340 Defense

Q: What are the rates
A: what are the daily rates?
- Ronald Kelly (4 years ago)
A: Current rates are listed on our website on the "Membership Application" form. Feel free to reach out to us at 304-725-0340 if you have any further questions.
- 340 Defense (a year ago)
Q: Can you shoot any gun?
A: So long as the weapon is in good working order, clean and can safely be fired, we allow up to 50 BMG on the range.
- 340 Defense (a year ago)
Q: My 9 old son would like to come shoot. Is he old enough? Do you have training available for shooting BB guns? (I am not experienced).
A: They offer all levels of training. From basics to advanced long range rifles.
- James Newman (5 years ago)
Q: Are gift certificates available?
A: Sorry I'm not sure...
- rob cane (6 years ago)
Q: Do that let you use a gun
A: You can rent guns and buy ammo there. The fees are a little high for ammo though. You have to purchase their ammo if you use their gun. They also offer training.
- Joseph Buckles (7 years ago)
Q: Do you have to become a member or can you shoot per day cost
A: It is a meber its 20 rollers 1 hour and amo is usley 20 and gun is usley 20 to rent if your a meber and evryfriday its woman free
- Savage family Sav (6 years ago)
A: You need to become a member and then pay the hourly range fee. That said, the prices are very reasonable and if you plan on shooting at all regularly, it's worth the cost. Edit: If you're shooting pistol only, there are cheaper alternatives. Range 340 really shines for the rifle ranges; by far the best ones in the Maryland/Virgina/West Virginia area.
- Thomas Dubyak (7 years ago)
Q: Do you have an indoor shooting range? Are you open Labor Day?
A: Open every day except Christmas and New Year.
- Derek Morrow (6 years ago)
A: No indoor range. Outdoor only.

The time and resources Matt & the RSO's put in to this facility is second to none. 340 Defense is making it's mark as a premier training venue both professionally and recreationally. I'm proud to be a part of the 340 Family and I strongly recommend this facility to anyone who's looking to take their training to the next level. Thank you for all the hard work team 340!

I cannot say enough good things about this shooting range. From the moment you step in, youΓÇÖre greeted by a team that truly understands professionalism and hospitality. The RSOs (Range Safety Officers) are not only highly knowledgeable but also incredibly approachable. They ensure everyone is following the safety rules while still making the experience enjoyable and stress-free. Their attention to detail and commitment to safety are unmatched. The management staff deserves a huge shoutout for their excellent organization and promptness. Whether itΓÇÖs check-in, answering questions, or managing the lanes, they make everything seamless. The range is kept impeccably clean, which immediately sets the tone for a top-notch experience. I also love the range availability here. ItΓÇÖs well-organized, and IΓÇÖve never had to wait long to secure a spot, even during busy hours. The upcoming arrangement for a 300-yard lying-down shooting position has me especially excited. ItΓÇÖs great to see the management investing in improving the experience for shooters, and I canΓÇÖt wait to try it out. What really makes this range stand out is the serenity of the environment. I always leave feeling refreshed and relaxed, which is a testament to how well-run this facility is. The combination of excellent staff, clean facilities, and well-maintained rules makes this the perfect place to spend some quality time honing my skills. Thank you to everyone at the range for creating such a safe, peaceful, and enjoyable environment. ItΓÇÖs truly the highlight of my week, and IΓÇÖll be recommending this place to everyone I know!

Great outdoor range that is just over the border in WV which is a really convenient location from Leesburg. I have shot/competed extensively in the area, SEG, X-cal, Shadowhawk, Echo Valley, Peacemaker, The Crucible, and Blue Ridge(when it was still around). For the money of a yearly membership it is by far the best place in the NOVA area if you're a regular shooter who is tired of the tourists at SEG, the backblast of X-cal/indoor ranges, and the contract bias/distance of Peacemaker. Bonus if you need training bays for running drills which are a flat rate for the bay instead of per shooter.

It is a very nice range. I have only a couple critical comments. The price per person/hour was expensive and no military discount..... but I understand they have to make money.... the safety briefing. The man spoke wayyyyyyy too fast........ safety has to be the most important thing..... too easy to not understand anything he was saying. But.... the safety briefing was part of your range time, so that's why he probably talked too fast. I would suggest they make the safety brief inside, in kind of a class room, and not so fast but also not count as part of your range time. I loved that they let us pick up our brass. Every other range that I called, once it hits the ground they own it! For reloaders like me that is a deal breaker. They are definitely safety focused on the range. The RSO watches everyone like a hawk...... so I felt safe the whole time.

!!!!Not worth the money!!!! Non member rates are $45 for a single hour or $100 for the day. One must spend an additional $10 to be allowed to shoot steel targets. The design of this range is such you can only shoot sitting at 50 and 100 and static standing at 15 due to the low roofs. The range is nice, but not 2 tanks of gas for a single day nice.

I think it's an okay range. Definitely better than most indoor ranges in my opinion. I really enjoy being able to shoot at 100y with a 10 minute proximity from my house. Those two things make it a great range to sight in a rifle. There are some things that would otherwise convince me to go to Peacemaker's though. - It's $50, with a time limit. Peacemaker's offers unlimited time for the same price, and allows non-members to shoot their steel for free, at 100 and 300 yards. - To shoot at 300 yards, you need to be a member (I THINK. I really don't remember), and you need to be able to shoot 1 MOA at 100 yards to qualify. I get that they are trying to find qualified shooters for their long range, but 1 MOA is not achievable on the majority of rifles and is much less a test of skill than it is hardware related. Peacemakers does not require this prerequisite and has a 1000+ yard range. - They charged me $3 for the cardboard backers for paper targets. These are what, $0.10/each? Just include them in the price of entry like everyone else, please. It makes the customer feel nickel and dimed. I will say, I did really like the lane autonomy; the four bays were separated, and you can call your own bay cold, go hang a target or whatever, while the other bays are hot. It was nice to not have to rely on an RSO to call the entire range cold in order for you to do your stuff down range. I think this is a good range for sighting in things, and I enjoy how close it is, but for an extra 45 minute drive, Peacemakers has more amenities for the same price. Staff was kind. I would like to see the 300 yard range open to the public with the 1 MOA @ 100 yards exemption eliminated.

Decent range. Employees were outstanding. Would have given the range 5 stars but think the cost to use the range was a little high. I shoot in an inside range for a third of what an hour here cost me. They need to post range costs on their website

A fantastic range over all. Friendly staff in the club house and on the range, observant RSOs that care about safety for all but don't power-trip. Bench-rest style set ups for the 50, 100, 200/250/300y range. You have to pass a 100y/1 MOA accuracy test before you are allowed to shoot on the 200/300y range and it makes sense. You have to prove both you and your firearm is capable of staying on target at distance. I go as often as I can and in over 15 trips, I haven't had a bad experience with staff or fellow shooters. Matter of fact, I've made several friends at this range. Overall, fantastic and would throughly recommend this range.

Awesome outdoor range with good membership plans. The RSOs are helpful and courteous without hovering over your shoulder (Like you have to deal with at most indoor ranges). This is the best range in the area by far.

We recently moved to the area, and I have been searching for a good range. I visited 340 Defense today for the first time and was impressed. According to range manager Matt, 340 Defense has been under new ownership since September 2022 and has been working very hard to improve the facilities. Matt and Range Safety Officer, Steve, were great, very personable, professional, and eager to assist. I had no problem joining the required range membership which, in the end, helps maintain a more diligent shooter atmosphere. So, I highly recommend 340 Defense!

Was visiting relatives from Texas, called before I went there and the told me the rules and that they would help me in any way . Arrived and was handled like I was a regular member. Very professional by the staff especially Pete who helped me and educated me. Best service I've ever had in 25 years of going to a gun range !!

If I could give them 1 star I would but I was treated horribly today by the range manager in the office. I was looking for a new range and thought I'd check these guys out. On the membership page of the website it clearly states word for word "ATTENTION LADIES!!!! Every Friday range time is free for women. No membership required! - THE ONLY EXCEPTION TO THE MEMBERSHIP POLICY" I then called to double check that this was for real. The person I talked to seemed super nice. I was sold on this place already. He confirmed that it was correct, every Friday is free without membership for ladies only. I asked if I needed to sign up or go with someone else. He said nope, just show up between 9am - 5pm and check in at the office and you're good to go. A friend and I both checked it out today and the way I was treated today was completely unacceptable on so many levels. Two men checked in before us and they were treated pretty harshly as well. The man who said he was the "manager" told us that we had to have a membership. When I showed him what was on his website he said he didn't care and he wasn't going to let just any lady off the street into one of his classes. He said "have you ever even been to a range?" ... He assumed because I was a lady that I didn't know what I was doing. Completely ridiculous! HONOR WHATS ON THE WEBSITE! He then told my friend and I that we could get a membership or leave. He was completely rude. I went with an intention of joining if I had a good experience today, I left with a horrible taste in my mouth. I asked for the owner and he wouldn't give the info. I can't send an email on the website it's not working, there's number on the website where I couldn't leave a message because the mailbox was full and when I call the other number listed I get the same grumpy manager. I wonder if the owners even know he treats people like this. I will NOT be joining 340 Defense and will never recommend it to any of my friends because of this experience with poor management.

I took my wife and two boys here for the first time today and we all had a wonderful time and are looking forward to coming back. The staff were very friendly, patient, and helpful, especially for relative newbies like us. The range facilities were also clean and well-kept. Highly recommended!

Best Range in the area in my opinion. The staff members like Pete, John, and Spencer who are very knowledgeable and professional make it what it is. If you want to shoot from 25 yards out to 300 yards on 4 independent ranges at the facility then this is the place for you, from a yearly member. Highly recommend!

My first day there, after checking the internet for local ranges it felt like this was the best choice. The staff was very helpful and informative. The RSO was wonderful, he gave me some pointers on my technique and offered some advice. I greatly appreciated it. Looking forward to my next range time.

Costs too much to shoot your own gun and ammo. (Which is already expensive to begin with) Walked away after reading the prices.

I am a career law enforcement officer and visited the range today with a friend that had never owned a firearm to provide safety and handling instructions. The range safety officers were extremely disrespectful and when I mentioned it all three surrounded me and became upset when I pointed out they were not respectful of social distances rules. Ur safety officers should act like gentlemen and not try and bully ur customers. They will get a lot further in life and ur business will do much better.
