Jim Shanahan of Advanced Performance Shooting, drove 11 hours to SE Louisiana to teach their Deliberate Responder Quantified Skills Class. He was welcomed by 9 eager to learn students, all with varying levels of experience, from not quite beginner to advanced. The two days of training were packed with information that was relayed in a way that was easily understood and processed. All drills that we shot where chosen in a particular progression pattern to help us understand the ΓÇ£whyΓÇ¥ we need to do things we do, and to help us ingrain a process to help us validate the results that we want. The information and processes that you learn from this class and the manner in which Jim delivers them will help take your shooting abilities to new levels. It does not matter if you are just beginning, have been shooting for a while, or even a competitive shooter, this is a must take class. Last year I had the opportunity to train with Hunter Freeland, formerly of Modern Samurai Project, and at the conclusion of his class, I told him the direction that I wanted to go, and he replied, that there was no person better than Jim Shanahan of Advanced Performance Shooting that could help me reach the levels that I wanted to be, not only as a shooter but also as an Instructor. As an instructor, I feel it is our responsibility and duty to help raise the standards in training so that our students receive the very best information that can be processed and validated, that may one day need to be called upon. If you are serious about wanting to become better, there is no better person than Jim and Advanced Performance Shooting to get you there. When you see this class pop up in your area, do yourself a favor and sign up, spots go very quickly as Jim keeps class limit to 10, which allows him to be up close and personal to help coach you to success.

Deliberate Responder Quantitative Skills class did not disappoint! Jim and Steve had a wealth of knowledge and expertise to share and all we had to do was listen & implement. Knowing these two instructors I had some high expectations regarding the content and they truly delivered everything I was hoping to learn & more! I highly recommend this class to anyone who needs to refine their skills and push to that stretch goal.

My review of the: Deliberate Responder Quantified Skills Course The Deliberate Responder Quantified Skills course offers a unique and immersive experience for anyone looking to elevate their shooting skills with a focus on measurable, data-driven improvement. The course provides hands-on training that emphasizes precision, speed, and consistency under real-world scenarios. One of the courseΓÇÖs standout features is its emphasis on quantifiable progress. Rather than vague assessments, each session is designed to track and document specific metricsΓÇöreaction times, hit accuracy, and decision-making speedΓÇöallowing participants to see tangible results and identify areas for improvement. This data-driven approach helps reinforce what youΓÇÖre doing right and where you might need to fine-tune your technique. The instructor Jim & Steve are highly knowledgeable and attentive, providing personalized feedback that really enhances the learning experience. TheyΓÇÖre adept at breaking down complex concepts and techniques into manageable steps, making the course accessible for both beginners and more experienced shooters. Safety, as expected, is a top priority, and the training environment is structured to ensure participants feel secure and supported throughout the entire course. Overall, Deliberate Responder Quantified Skills is an excellent course for those serious about measurable improvements in their shooting abilities. ItΓÇÖs engaging, challenging, and rewardingΓÇöhighly recommended for anyone looking to take their skills to the next level with a clear and quantifiable approach.

Any solid professional shooting course will have a focus and a curriculum designed around that focus but many, if not most, have a very specific focus. This course certainly has a well thought out and proven curriculum and a focus but this is not a hyper focused pin point course. I have taken several courses over the years and this course has the most all around practical application. The instructor has extensive experience in law enforcement, personal defense and competition oriented shooting and is able to demonstrate throughout the course how each period of instruction can apply or relate to each of the disciplines.

Fantastic class with a great balance of skills set offered while not overburdening with time spent on merely statutes. Yes, the important ones were covered well, and in a way that helped immensely with retention. But handgun safety, range time, and real life scenarios were also a huge benefit of the class. I left feeling like I really learned something rather than just complete a requirement to obtain my CCW permit. I also left with a clear understanding that ongoing training is necessary in order to best protect my loved ones from harm.

Awesome Instructors. For my 1st time touching a gun, their instructions gave me the tools to fire the gun with confidence. Would recommend for any 1st timers that would want to learn how to handle and fire correctly.

I haven't been able to attend any classes so I can't speak for those, but they make some of the BEST holsters I've ever owned. I'm on my 4th holster from them (for different guns and configurations). Great retention and concealment.

Excellent class! So many times you come across people that are very proficient in their craft, but they can't teach. Jim is one of the rare professionals that can perform as well as teach. Jim has such a passion for his craft, and sincerely wants his students to excel. If you're looking for training, definitely give APS a call.

Thoroughly enjoy the holster I recently purchased! Very comfortable, after wearing for just a couple hours I forgot I even had it on. Easily concealable with little effort as well. Craftsmanship is second to none!

Great class great experience. One of the most comprehensive training courses for a ccw out there, informative, interactive and hands on. This is a great class for beginners to advanced individuals seeking a ccw permit in Missouri!!! I would recommend this program to any Missouri resident who is looking to obtain a ccw permit and carry with more ease in mind around their home state. I also highly recommend this program for obtaining a ccw for folks who are carry conscious and have just moved to Missouri. Great program with great a instructor at a great shop as well! My best wishes to all the folks at Ozark sporting goods and Jim from Advanced Performance Shooting. A great course with quality behind it.

Taken several shooting classes from Jim and I own one of his holsters for each of my pistols. Absolutely top notch! Very easy to work with and extremely knowledgeable. DonΓÇÖt let the reasonable prices fool you. The quality is absolutely amazing, not only in his holsters but in the training provided. He provides great instruction to all skill levels and will absolutely make you a better shooter without breaking the bank. You canΓÇÖt go wrong if you choose APS!

I have taken several different courses with Advanced Performance Shooting over the last few years. Each class has consisted of extremely high quality training in a very safe environment. This is world class training at unbelievably reasonable prices. These courses could easily be filled at twice the price. With that being said, if you are a new shooter, donΓÇÖt feel intimidated, Advanced Performance Shooting has courses that are perfect for new people that want to make progress.

*******Very, very, Disappointed…………….With Myself!!!!************ I was stationed at Fort Leonard Wood for a year and a half before I picked up my concealed carry permit (which i wish was taught from APS). After I received my permit, I continued to shoot at the local ranges for the time being. I had some friends that trained with the APS training group and they told me I needed to check it out!! I will admit I drug my feet , a little nervous and intimidated. I mean, Check out the name….”.Advanced Performance Shooting”. These dudes must be some of the best, Rooting Tooting, CCW Shooting, son of guns, in Midwest Missouri. I signed up for my first class “Holster and Handguns”. The level of training far exceeded my expectations!!! Very professional and approachable. Upfront, No BS, no bragging about being the best Instructor in the world. Downright gave the building blocks on the fundamentals of defensive pistol marksmanship. I would later go on and take the Holsters and Handguns three more times and train with the training group weekly averaging 1,000 rounds an month. Great training, Great training, Great training. Would I recommend the training and the holsters the Advanced Performance Shooting has to offer??? You bet your bologna’s I would!! Do your research on what other companies are charging.. I currently carry the EDC 1 and Epitome and love it. Won’t carry any other. ******For the record****** The Training Group is the Best Rooting Tooting, CCW Shooting, son of guns, in Midwest Missouri. Such a bummer I had to leave due to Military orders.

I could write a book on all the wisdom APS has given me. I can't count the hours of training I have received or the amount of skills learned through APS's courses and training groups. I currently have 10 holsters for various handguns, 2 of which date back 4years or more. I will not use another holster as long as APS is still making them.

I have purchased APS gear and training for about 10 years now. Quality materials on both counts from a quality team of professionals. Highly recommend APS products and services.

The holsters and magazine pouches Jim makes are a part of my EDC gear. I have several holsters, including the new EDC-1 and cannot tell you how much I like wearing them. I have had the opportunity to wear several of the different styles and find that each of them are superior to any other holsters I've purchased. The holsters ride comfortably and sit very close to the body (which is what a guy wants with a concealment holster). They are not mass produced, but every single one is made with care. That being said, the friends I know that also use holsters from Advanced Performance Shooting were amazed at how quickly orders are filled. I have carried using APS holsters almost exclusively for the last 5 years (occassionally, my attire requires a shoulder holster). I did have to contact Jim when a belt loop cracked, but replacement pieces were in the mail and delivered way faster than I expected. He didn't just send one replacement loop, he sent a couple...the spares are still sitting in the gun room on the off chance that I might need one. Living in Montana, I've only had one opportunity to attend one of the weekly training group sessions. That one evening taught me a great deal and I will heartily recommend that anyone looking to improve their skills and knowlege would do well to work a trip to mid-Missouri into a family vacation (that's what we did).

I have had the opportunity to train with Jim several times over the past several years. He is dedicated to self defense training and is always trying to improve and stay up to date. This is a guy who never says "this is good enough". He is also never still. HIs training has been very safe and all levels of shooters are welcome. I also had the opportunity to have Jim make me a special purpose holster and he did a fine job with that. Floyd Baker

I have had the pleasure and luxury of using APS products and attending more classes than I can count over the last 4 years. Like most gun enthusiasts I have the drawer (or five) full of holsters I have tried over the years for various guns. Without fail the holster I wear every day and have worn every day since I got it in 2014 is my APS elite protective series holster. I can not say enough about this holster. One of them I wear my duty pistol in every day. Finally 4 years later I got a small crack on one of the belt loops, and before the end of the week I had my holster replaced and was good to go. The training I have had as both law enforcement and military does not compare to the level of training I have had with APS. Hands down APS is the best firearms instruction I have ever had. From the 2 hour training group sessions to 1,000 round 2 day 1-100 class. I cannot say enough about APS, their products, their training. Their Glock modifications are second to none. My Gen 4 G19 is a a performance Glock done by APS and is my EDC. Hard to articulate just how big of a difference the modifications are in the ergonomics and performance of my beloved G19.

The owner Jim is a top notch instructor, business owner and guy. He pours his heart and soul into everything he does, classes or holster building! Every holster is personally signed (with a Dremel!), so he literally puts his name on his products and stands behind them 100%. I had the privilege of helping him test one of his new designs in a class. Countless hours of testing and reworking them on the range so when they hit the shelf, they are the best possible holster you could buy, because he knows you are TRUSTING IT WITH YOUR LIFE! I now probably have 4-5 of his holsters, and all of them are purpose built for what they need to do, and SUPER COMFORTABLE! He is probably the most patient instructor I know, he or one of his helpers is on the line with you, making sure you learn it right the first time and to create a safe and FUN learning environment! He has an ability to explain stuff in a way that everyone can understand, I know he has something like 20+ years serving our country with firearms, but I do not. And he can make everyone who just wants to protect their family and make the world a safer place learn to perform in the moment to save lives. You will leave one of his classes knowing the "who," "what," "when," "where," "whys" and "hows!" But especially the "whys" so you truly understand what to do and why it is important! He does not want to be famous, just offer a quality product and service at a super reasonable price. The first time we talked, he spent an hour on the phone with me, knowing I had not given him a dime or if I would ever take a class or buy any of his great products! So stop in and ask him questions! You will not find a better guy to help you with any of your firearm needs around America!

I met Jim the owner about 10 years ago. He was my instructor for an advanced law enforcement tactical entry team course. Since meeting him, I've taken numerous classes with him and shared his teaching and instruction with many of my colleagues. Jim is a fantastic instructor with a passion and drive for firearms training improvement I have not seen in any instructor at any school over these last 10 years. He takes training and the quality of his products seriously because he knows you're taking these skills home to your family. His pricepoint is remarkable for the level of care, attention, and knowledge you will receive. Other companies charge over $500 a DAY for far far less than what you'll get from Jim. Take his classes, buy his goods, seek out his experience and instruction. You will not regret it.

Advanced Performance Shooting is probably the mid west's best kept secret, both in high quality instruction as well as price. Beginners and advanced shooters alike can all benefit from Jim's expertise. He's well versed in the competitive arena as well as over 20 years military. I can't speak highly enough about this company. Send him an email or phone call with any questions, he always responds.

Carry nearly everyday with an Epitome holster. Comfort and quality are unmatched. The customer service is the best in the industry. IΓÇÖve got a drawer full of holsters and business cards from other companies IΓÇÖll never use since I found Advanced Perfomance Shooting.

I have been using an Advanced Performance Shooting inside the belt, outside the pants holster for over a year now. It simply works, conceals my firearm, and is comfortable. I have also been shooting with Advanced Performance Shooting for over a year, and I have seen vast improvements. If you would like more training, then come out and shoot with us. If you have more than enough training ΓÇ£you thinkΓÇ¥ then come shoot with us!

If you are in search of a holster that is comfortable and disappears when carried inside the waistband the EDC2 has you covered. I am using this holster for everyday carry with a Glock 19 MOS and RMR. The firearm is secure and at the same time easy to draw. Plenty of room for suppressor height sights. The holster can also be worn inside the belt outside the pants if you desire. The quality is top notch as with all the Advance Performance Shooting products I have purchased.

I have had many holsters in the past but the EDC 2 holster I got from advanced performance shooting is by far the most comfortable and practical holster I have owned. I also shoot with Jim Shanahan in his training group and have taken his Holsters and Handguns course. There is no where in the country you can find this quality in training for the prices that advanced performance shooting provides.
