American Shooters Clarksville

Q: I would like to know the legal way to transport my pistle to and my ammunition to the gun range?
A: If im not mistaken if you have your Licenes to carry card card it's how ever you choose to. If you you do not have a License to carry card the firearm should be cleared (magzine empty and chamber cleared) and ammo have to separated. Example pistol in the glove box (no ammo in the magzine or chamber) and ammo in the trunk.
- Carl Williams (7 years ago)
A: I asked someone at the state police post in Sellersburg a few years ago. He told me to disassemble the pistol so that it was in a non-firing condition and carry ammunition separately. (Ammo in back seat, pistol in trunk).
- H (H) (5 years ago)
A: You can call them or look at the NRA website. There is some context to your question missing that will more than likely become apparent after doing some research.

Q: What are the range fees?
A: Hey James. We have a Standard Bay and a Premium Bay. The rate for the Standard Bay is $20 for the first shooter, $12 for the second shooter. For the Premium Bay its $25 for the first shooter and $17 for the second shooter. On the Premium Bay the target system includes 27 preprogrammed shooting scenarios. Target turn, tease, move different distances, etc. with red/blue flashing lights or white strobe lights for distraction-pretty cool and simple to use. Standard Bay targets go out and come back-theyΓÇÖre also simple to use. Our fees are daily fees, if there is a wait list we respectfully ask you to hold your time in the range to one hour, take a break, and recycle back in. You can even leave the range, and come back the same day with your payed receipt and get back on a lane at no additional charge. Otherwise if thereΓÇÖs not a wait list you can stay as long as you like.

- Rick Hauber (5 years ago)
A: I believe they only shoot guns
- Tracy (5 years ago)
Q: Can I shoot my 338 lapua Magnum?
A: I'm thinking yes as long as it's not a steel projectile.
- TBR, LLC (5 years ago)
A: Your best bet is to call and ask.
- Patrick Naville (5 years ago)
Q: What are chamber flags?
A: Small piece of plastic inserted into the chamber of a pistol or rifle that indicates the safety condition of the firearm. Usually orange or yellow to easily spot.
- TBR, LLC (5 years ago)
A: Chamber flags are great tools to indicate the status of a gun. They give a clear visual that a firearm action is not in a position to be discharged. ... The way chamber flags are traditionally used, the stem on the flag is inserted into the chamber.

Q: Just bought a M&P 2.0 9mm FDE Full size. Will instructor help me zero it in? Maybe use tools to do so? And are glasses and ear plugs all thats required to shoot? Thanks Rick
A: A photo ID is required as well as eye and ear protection. If itΓÇÖs a new fireside it should be pretty close to zeroed in-0ur instructors can assist you
- Rick Hauber (6 years ago)
A: I'd say it depends on who is there. Tools are doubtful. Glasses and earpro required.
- TBR, LLC (6 years ago)
Q: I have a box to transport my gun to the range but I'm not sure how to legally transport the ammo. Can I transport the ammo in the same box as my gun? As well as the clips too? And do the clips have to be empty?
A: Clips empty with the gun. Guns should be in a locked gun bag or box and put in the trunk. Ammo can be anywhere.
- Dave Wingfield (7 years ago)
A: Why would mags have to be empty lol if its a rifle or shotgun it doesnt matter you can transport it however you please same with handguns as long as you have your CCL's. There is no requirements for shotguns and rifles!! Unless your a felon and shouldnt have astud, look up your state laws and learn your constitution or simply join the NRA or go to their website and study

I've been there five or six times and have had good experiences. Prices are reasonable, it's on this side of the river, and the gentlemen who work there are nice enough. I greatly appreciate their ventilation system (an important safety feature). Glad to support this local business!

Range is nice but unfortunately I wonΓÇÖt be returning. First time shooting here and the staff is very rude. Bald older guy at the desk was extremely rude and agitated from us asking easy and simple questions. Definitely not a welcoming place and when I rented a rifle to shoot he pointed the damn thing at me like 3 different times and acted inconvenienced by me renting it. This is a shame because I was really looking forward to having a nice range close to home but I will not be returning here. Professionalism and courtesy goes along way and it would do good to retrain the staff here on these things.

Best bang for your buck (no pun intended) around. Pay for all day what some ranges charge for one hour. It's nice to be able to zero a red dot or scope without having to watch a clock. Employees are present if needed and to make sure everyone is being safe, but I can appreciate that they don't "hover". In-store ammo is a bit overpriced, but you can bring your own so not a big issue for me. My interactions with the staff was limited, but they seem friendly enough. I'll continue to be a regular customer there.

I go on a regular basis to keep my skills up on my hand guns. I have both revolvers and semi-auto calibers. The facility is clean and organized. The range controls have worked flawlessly. The staff is friendly and available for any questions and advice.

American Shooters Clarksville is hands down one of the best ranges IΓÇÖve visited. The staff is knowledgeable, friendly, and always ready to offer assistance whether youΓÇÖre a beginner or an experienced shooter. The facilities are top-notch, clean, and well-maintained, providing a safe and enjoyable environment for everyone. What really stands out is their wide selection of firearms and accessories, ensuring thereΓÇÖs something for every shooterΓÇÖs needs. I highly recommend this range to anyone looking for a great place to shoot or seeking advice from true professionals in the industry! -David Renna Wolverine Arms

Thought I would share my first and last experience at American Shooters Clarksville. Upon arriving at the location, I parked in an area designated for compact cars (I drive one). When myself and two others walked in, we stated we were there for my girlfriend to rent a handgun. She was trying to decide on a future purchase. The individual behind the counter interrupted me. "Before anything else, I will need you to move your vehicle as it's over the line." I complied and went and moved my vehicle to another part of the already completely empty parking lot. When I returned back inside, the individual behind the counter continued to be rude and dry. As myself and the other two people with me were filling out waivers, we all decided the encounter that we had with the individual behind the counter left us with no desire to spend any money or time at this range. We went back up to the front and waited as the individual behind the counter was speaking "at" two other guys there to shoot. Again he was showing the same dry, entitled personality to the two men about to go shoot. When we approached the counter to let him know we decided not to shoot and we needed our IDs back, his response was a very smug "Your choice," with a "hmph." The two people that were with me had never experienced an indoor range, and this interaction has certainly left a bitter taste for the future. This guy is in a customer service position to sell a service, and because of the way he treated us, I wanted to let others know what they may encounter. Hopefully people see this and decide to go elsewhere than to deal with an arrogant, pompous jerk.

Very fun experience! I came from Manitoba, Canada and had only previously shot 2 firearms but never loaded them. They helped me with everything and helped me find a good stance for my first indoor shooting experience as well as choosing a firearm. Definitely a memorable experience for someone who will likely never use a gun again 😅 Great service all around!
