Great place for clay shooting practice without hype.

This place sucks. Incredibly expensive especially for an outdoor range, along with a ridiculous pricing system. Extra charges to bring multiple firearms. Poor customer service skills at the counter, and rude and arrogant attitudes from the RSOΓÇÖs. Packed when we went. Judging by the holes in the ceiling many of them were new shooters. Would not recommend.

Great outdoor place for shooting, love it,

It's an outdoor shooting range with friendly staff. More importantly though, you can shoot shotguns here! Alot of ranges dont allow it, or have ammo restrictions, or in the case of a popular indoor range club on I-10 were fully booked. ASC has plenty of lanes to spare. You do have to sign a waiver, which sounds like a no-brainer, but there are ranges around town where you aren't (or previously weren't) required to do so. No big deal.

Jeremiah at the sporting clay center was super helpful. He helped us pick which package of clays fit our group size and even helped us get a few clays at the end when the machine ate all our remaining tags throwing broken clays. Would come back again

Range officers using foul language towards customers. 1st rifle is free for the range but charge 5 dollars for each additional rifles. Boy I miss Hotwells.

Too many rules that takes out the fun of shooting

I was nervous about heading out here after reading the reviews, but I had an excellent time. Louis at the front desk was friendly and helpful. He got me signed up quickly and helped me find extra gear I needed. Gave clear range instructions and I was at the range within 10 minutes. Range MarshallΓÇÖs were friendly and helpful. Other shooters were also friendly. Rules were clearly started over a megaphone so there was no confusion as to when the line was hot or what you can and canΓÇÖt do. They provide staple guns and rangefinders on the 100 yard stations which helps for dialing in. All in all a great for only 28 bucks. I recommend and would come again.

I am an annual member of the pistol and rifle range for many years. The facilitates have been going downhill for several years. The standing areas have holes in the asphalt which make it hard to stand. The target stands are falling apart. At the rifle range, the rifle supports behind the shooting positions are missing cross supports for spare rifles. A very good area is the personnel at check in and the range officers. One other complaint is when there is a major Sporting Clay event all the parking at the pistol/rifle range is occupied. I know this must be a very profitable event but please let us know so we don't waste out time coming and can't shoot.

Hours need to be updated, tried to show up for trap and skeet just for them to close a full hour before posted time. Very unprofessional.

I like it a lot Professional employees always help to keep the safety at a high level ItΓÇÖs not cheap but few ranges areΓÇöabout $25 for the first firearm then $5 for each extra so pick a day when you can take two or three, a lunch, and make a day of it Even the ammo from the store isnΓÇÖt crazy expensive I recommend the placeΓÇöalways had good experiences there

Bunch of sassy office staff that acts like toddlers having a temper tantrum in a play place like cry babies when you take their ABC blocks away from them. My vietnam veteran grandpa didn't like em either. Avoid this place and dont waste your money there either.

Well maintained range, friendly staff and they had steel targets! I drove in from Austin to visit family and had a great time. My guns had cans on them so when I shot too quickly I got a tab but they are much cooler about it than at the ranges I frequent. Amazing place!

I've only come here once, so basing this review off that experience (pistol range). I had a good time and will be back. It's an outdoor range, so dress for that and understand it might get muddy if it rains. There are also no barriers between you and other shooters, so if someone is unsafe in shooting or one of those guys that can't get laid decides to shoot up people at the range, then you just hope you can run or someone else gets the bad guy first. That part is a little different than most indoor ranges with the siloed shooting lanes. Another reviewer said the staff was rude. I found them friendly but they are not over-the-top friendly like your bubbly Aunt on Christmas. Basically, if you have low self esteem and need someone to brighten your day, it's not going to be them. That being said, they were friendly and efficient inside the office and I was literally out shooting in just a few minutes. Ammo prices were comparable to Academy for pistol. You need to sign the waiver at the Kiosk (near the door), so do that before you get in line. I went when they first opened, so not a ton of people. There's a decent amount of diversity at the range. I'm a pale White guy, but I always look for "safe" ranges to bring my Black wife to. This range had good vibes and a mix of people. From what I understood, the pistol range fee seemed like an all day fee. I only shot for like an hour, but if what I'm thinking is true, that's a real good value for the money. There is a cease fire every 30 minutes. That's when you can hang your target, so plan ahead. For example, if you show up at 9:05am then you are waiting until 9:30am to be able to hang your target and start shooting. They have range officers. And they do have staple guns to hang your targets, but it wouldn't hurt for you to bring some duct tape as a backup plan. Targets were $1 for each extra. Again, any pricing listed here is for pistol. Lots of parking and unlike other ranges in town, where people break into your car, I didn't feel unsafe at all at this range. You can also literally see your vehicle from where you are shooting. Your pistol needs to stay unloaded in the case until you get to the shooting lane. And it needs to be cleared with the slide locked if you are not shooting it and also during the ceasefire. Pistol range was 1 shot every 3+ seconds. That being said, I had a few shots that were faster and the range officer gave me some leeway. I think if you are actively being mindful of it and if you do a few rapid shots and then pause for like 10 seconds before the next one, the range officers give you a break. Technically speaking, they could probably kick you out but everyone is there for safe fun. If you are a jerk then I'm sure they kick you out. Differences between an outdoor range like this and an indoor range for those that have only done indoor. 1. You will deal with the weather. I chose a sunny day to shoot. Plan accordingly. 2. No walls between you and other shooters, so there is a lot of trust being placed in strangers. That being said, the type of person coming to an outdoor is usually a more experienced shooter and not someone coming just because they watched a movie Friday night and now want to be John Wick on Saturday morning at the range. You see the latter more with indoor ranges. 3. There are the ceasefires. The pistol, shotgun, and rifle ranges are all in the same general area, so the ceasefire is for everyone. 4. Tell them it's your first time there and ask what you need to do. Closed mouths don't get fed.

Decent facility for outdoor shooting not the best but good for sight in your scope , the customer service itΓÇÖs horrible and the front desk staff itΓÇÖs extremely rude and definitely not a place friendly to beginners. The range safety officers are friendly . The shooting benches and the target stands need a little bit of maintenance but like I said a decent place for outdoor shooting , specially rifle.

I had a great time here. We recently had a work event here. We were clay shooting. It was my first time clay shooting, and I'll definitely be back. The instructor was great. She actually took her time to show us how to shoot clays, and she gave us pointers throughout. I've shot down range at this shooting center before, but for my first time shooting clay, this was perfect. I'll definitely be back, and I'm looking forward to buying my own shotgun to see how I fair with my own.

My son and I are members. We come every weekend for rifle shooting. I had a free afternoon so I drove over an hour to get here. After waiting a few minutes to check in, I was turned away by the front desk because they ΓÇ£donΓÇÖt check in shooters after 4.ΓÇ¥ (The range closes two hours later at 6PM). I pointed out that it was precisely 4:00. His response was ΓÇ£you have to get here before 4:00ΓÇ¥. I honestly thought he was joking, just trying to be funny. After a second, I realized he was serious. He refused to check me in. There is nothing online that would point to this 4:00 policy and I have seen nothing in the office that shows it either. There were no shooters in 200-600 yard ranges at the time that would delay setting up a target. I gotta say, for months, I thought the harsh online reviews of the staff were overly critical. While not especially friendly, they were functional, reasonable people. DidnΓÇÖt see it before. I see it now. I canceled the membership. WeΓÇÖll go to Navasota.

Most places want to nurture kids love of the outdoors and shooting. Not this place. Not kid friendly. Carters Country Spring will let your kids watch you shoot as they want to nurture that love of shooting in the kids.
