Beech Fork Shooting Range

Q: Does anyone know the actual shooting distances there?
A: Last I remember was around 75 yards but I haven't been out there in probably 20 years so that could've changed.

Pretty sketchy. Trash everywhere, normally from people shooting at it. People have shot up the benches and shelter. Probably enough empty shells here to coat the whole place in brass a quarter inch of brass . Normally someone here on a decent enough day, but hardly ever busy. Most are friendly enough but you get a few sketch folks that are all little lax on gun safety. Pretty much always a brass goblin looking over your shoulder (like, I've had folks pick up my brass before I was through a magazine). Only public range in the area though.

Awesome park! Swimming pool, campsites, trails! The full experience! My favorite spot is the shooting of range, kept pretty clean and no very crowded when I go. Oh, let's not forget the lake! Canoe rental, fishing, nice docks! I learned the hard way I'm to old and fat to use an inflatable boat 🤣 but fun time!!

No rules. No enforcement. Bring anything you want to shoot at. People actually shoot the benches and the roof structure itself. It's part of Beech Fork state park. Once a month they bring a front end loader to gather up the junk. A couple of people hang out regularly to pick up any brass casings. Usually not crowded. If so wait a bit. Ammunition is expensive so most people don't shoot very long. Be wary! Some shooters do not understand firearm safety. Do not leave loaded firearms unattended. Most people are friendly and well mannered.

I love this place. Every time I've been here, there's been other shooters. At first, I was nervous but they were very polite and a few were even helpful when my Father in Law's rifle jammed. Awesome place. Clean and quiet. The parking lot does get muddy during the spring and rainy times, so wear an old pair of shoes. This is our favorite place

I have to be honest with you, the power lines crackling with electricity rather close to your head are pretty disturbing. Otherwise, I don't have much to say about the range itself. A bit small, but I haven't seen it crowded. Appears to be a wasp nest out there somewhere. The place is trashed, but that just comes with an open range like this. It shouldn't be that way, but it is, because people are rude, inconsiderate, irresponsible, and lazy. This range is a bit out of my way and I don't get much time off these days, and yet I'm still tempted to go out there just to try to clean the place up a bit one of these days. We as gun owners need to step up and show our appreciation for these open ranges. They don't have RSOs hounding you 24/7 and your ammo and your gun are your choice. Places like this are a great privilege that we need to take some responsibility for because I know that if we don't, they'll just get shut down. Because nobody wants to clean up after someone else's mess. Beech Fork does you a favor by giving you a place to shoot outdoors where you will be treated as an adult and left alone to handle your business. The least you can do is take your trash away with you - including whatever fruits you've massacred out there - and sweep up some of your casings and <not> shoot the benches, the roof, or the pillars. I know some think that's too much to ask, but it's really not.

This range is out in the middle of no where and isn't the easiest thing to find, even with a GPS. There are literally tens of thousands of shell casings laying on the ground. I believe there are around 6 tables/slots for shooters. Bring your own targets and stands because there's not much out there.

What you would expect from an unsupervised shooting range. The people who frequent the range are knowledge and respectful. I've never had any issues with any unsafe oper8tors.
