Blackcreek Gun Club

Q: Is this place open? Tried to call but the number is disconnected
A: It is still operating. The number was disconnected due to massive scammers and such, and Mr. Young's family is now revitalizing the operation. best bet is to stop by and have a conversation. Membership runs from Jan 1 to Dec 31 with no proration, and is completely worth it. More than a range, it's a community.

A: Wanted to see if the range is open? Also, do you sell rifle ammunition?
- Barry Gauch (4 years ago)
Q: Hello, I have heard only great things about this place and was wondering how I would go about seeing the range and getting a membership. Any information you can provide would be much appreciated
A: Call the office at 804-781-1945 for details. Thanks.
- Blackcreek Gun Club (2 years ago)
Q: WhatΓÇÖs the range distance? Looking for atleast 3000 yards??
A: You're never going to find 3,000 yards in Virginia unless if you own a lot of land. They're are no ranges in Virginia which offer 300 yards that are publicly accessible.
- Robbie C (3 years ago)
A: Four range alleys (pistol range 7 to 15 yards, 25 yard range, 50 yards and 100 yards) and an open field with very nice trap setup
- Rather LiveInKeyWest (3 years ago)
A: The ranges are from 15 yards to 100 yards.
- Blackcreek Gun Club (3 years ago)
Q: Are there any rules regarding bi-metal jacketed ammo, literally every gun range around me has banned it even though I've never seen steel pitted any worse than standard 5.56 by the ammo I run.
A: As Mr Kay C used to say, shoot what'cha brung except tracers.
- Rather LiveInKeyWest (3 years ago)
A: Bi-metal jacketed bullets are made from a softer iron which may spark on impact and potentially start a fire - which is probably why they are not allowed at other ranges. Tracers are not allowed at the range, but you may want to check in person to see if they are allowed.
- Robbie C (3 years ago)
Q: I'm from out of state, and probably won't come there more than once. Would I be able to just pay a range fee for a days pass?
A: Sorry, no.
- Blackcreek Gun Club (3 months ago)
Q: Why is a NRA membership required? Why not accept a VCDL membership?
A: Blackcreek is a NRA affiliated range, and gets insurance through them. VCDL is a good organization. But you have to support those who support you.
- Blackcreek Gun Club (9 months ago)
Q: I have to send a donation twice. The letter has been returned both times. Are you using a box number? Please let me know where to send donation. Stan
A: It was received. Thank you.
- Blackcreek Gun Club (10 months ago)
A: Don't know if the gun range takes donations.
- David Kirby (10 months ago)
Q: I'm mainly looking for a range to scope in my new 7mm. I know the range is 100 yards, do you have a caliber limit? I understand you don't want something like a 50 cal.😁. Thanks
A: Calibers smaller than 50 caliber are generally acceptable. If you have specific questions, please call the office five at 804-781-1945.
- Blackcreek Gun Club (a year ago)
Q: This is only for members club?
A: Yes, memberships run the calendar year and are available for purchase.
- Blackcreek Gun Club (a year ago)
Q: Are there private ranges people can rent?
A: No. We are a membership only range.

As long as there is no snow it's a great place to shoot.

The Audacity to charge my guest with Negligent Discharge of a firearm because she was accused of shooting the ceiling is crazy! There’s at least a dozen other holes in the ceiling. I asked to see the video and you refused to provide that. I’ve never in my life heard of being charged at a gun range for missing a target while shooting down range. I wish I never gave you my money. And the nerve to smile in my face like everything was okay… As if I were welcomed here. 👎🏾

This was my first time there as a guest. They have multiple range areas for different types of firearms you may have. I joined a friend as a guest. You do need a membership to go on your own which they do as a yearly cost. All their range areas are in the shade which is also nice.

My husband and I joined in October of 2022, and when we joined we were told that it was $350.00 for a year and they even wrote the expiration date as October 2023. We went there today 3/18/2023 and were told that our membership was expired. The man that signed us up told us that it would expire 10/23, Why the heck would anyone in their right mind pay $350.00 for 2 months of range time in November and December. If we had of been told it would expire on December 31st we would have waited for January to join. The people that work there are not the friendliest people in the world either, whenever we went there they always had an attitude. Please before you join check into everything and make sure you are aware of everything, because they sure as heck are NOT going to tell you. My advance donΓÇÖt bother!!!!!!

I've been to several ranges in Virginia where I feel like the person next to me is not qualified operate a firearm nor own one. I've seen seem really stupid things, and I don't always trust the air quality on indoor ranges. Colonial is a great range, but it's expensive, and someone is always watching you, and the distance is limited. Other ranges will limit the types of calibers you can bring. I feel safe at Black Creek, as everyone has gone through the same safety briefing, and everyone watches out and hold everyone to the same standard. I've made some friends at BlackCreek over the years. The outfoor range features a 15, 25, 50, and 100 yard range along with a special use range for matches or skeet shooting. Presently, the membership fee is $300, which may be high for some. However, given the amount of ranges available, the overall friendly nature of the staff and members, the safety of the range, and the frequency I go shooting - it's absolutely worth every penny for me.

This place is the best. Hands down you cannot beat the price. You can stay as long as you want, shoot your own ammo, everyone treats you like family from the minute you get there until you leave. Safety is their #1 priority with having a good time following right behind this. Other shooters are also very willing to help others out. No elitist attitudes that I've encountered. You get bad seeds everywhere,I just haven't encountered them. Thank you guys

While the grounds and everything look nice they need somebody else giving the newcomer briefing. I left after 2+ hours which could have been done in 15 minutes. It was slow, repetitive, and didn't give a straight answer to the people that had legitimate questions.
