Q: Did I read correctly that BCPSR has a 500M range, and what's the information on that?

A: Yes there's a 500M range with over 60 pieces of steel ranging from 200M to 500M. Animal silhouettes as well as various sized gongs.

- Derek Bibber (a year ago)

Q: They have a new case policy. Does it need to be a hard case or can it be a soft case?

A: BCR allows both soft and hard-shelled cases. Holsters are acceptable as well. BCR does not allow gun socks or scabbards.

Q: What is longest shot possible at this range?

A: The 500M range offers shots at 500M (547 yards). The main range is 200 yards maximum.

- Derek Bibber (a year ago)

Q: Are you allowed to bring and set up your own steel targets on the range?

A: As of January 2023, private steel targets are not authorized.

- Derek Bibber (a year ago)

A: I've seen other people set up a small set of dangling steel targets at one of the nearer berms, but I haven't personally seen the hard-mounted kind set up here

- Michael Carr (3 years ago)

Q: I'm a little bit new to this range what do they mean by no steel is that casing?

A: Great question. "No steel" means no steel jacketed, steel core, or bi-metal ammunition. The casing isn't the issue, it's the composition of the bullet itself. Steel ricochets and sparks, producing a fire hazard. Copper ammunition splatters and has a reduced spark potential.

- Derek Bibber (a year ago)

A: Do they make reservations???

- Ross Wilkerson (3 years ago)

Q: Blackcreek range sight in day? Any discounts for seniors?

A: No discounts. $10.00 per shooter is not expensive, is it? I should say that I have never received any as either a senior or veteran.

- Michael Black (5 years ago)

A: 1 June - 31 October 8AM-6PM: Thursday thru Sunday 1 November - 31 May 9AM-5PM: Thursday thru Sunday

- Derek Bibber (a year ago)

A: Late May or early June I believe.

- Michael Black (5 years ago)

Q: Do they allow magnum rifle calibers?

A: No steel

- Michael Black (5 years ago)

A: Yes we do. As of 2023, we do not allow .50 BMG or derivatives of that cartridge.

- Derek Bibber (a year ago)

A: Yes. It's an outdoor range.

This is a good, managed range. There are enough benches that you should be able to shoot without waiting. There are also 3 other ranges for classes and a staged Cowboy Action range for competitions.

Wanted to give Blacks Creek 5 stars. But there are just a couple of things they can work on. 1. Since BLM took over, they have made a lot of really good improvements to the entire facility and infrastructure. Even little things like a dedicated pistol bench. They now have concrete footings to place your targets in and are labeled to line up and sync with the table you are at. You can rent things now too (like steel for 200yrd shots), among other improvements. Thumbs up here. Lots of other improvements as well, too many to list. 2. Things seem to be a bit more organized and safe, with more RSO's assisting. 3. The majority of the staff are really cool people and enthusiasts and are always willing to provide tips and assistance. 4. It goes a long way with the staff if you follow the range rules, bring your ammo at check in for inspection, ask questions before assuming you can do something, it all makes for an enjoyable experience. Things that can be improved: 1. As I mentioned in point 3 above, the majority of the staff are super cool. There is one Range Master in particular that is a huge blow hard, overzealous, and takes himself too way too seriously. On more than trip when he is walking the line while the range is hot, he likes to spot check ammo in the middle of lining up a shot. I'm totally fine with ammo spot checks, and this being a public range, I agree with it. But don't do it while someone is concentrated and focused on dialing in a firearm. 2. I have, on occasion, over heard staff talking about not answering the phone so people will think they are closed. Why? Why does the staff want to stand around on an empty range? Do you want to talk shit? Cool, do it away from people paying to be there. Just my .02, not offended, just have a better attitude. 3. Get better at messaging. On the website and on site. One example. For winter hours/season, public shooters check in down at the public range. Not the main building. How about at least putting that sign on the main gate and not the door of the main building. This goes for updates to the website as well. All in all, Blacks Creek public range is a great place for everyone, provided everyone has the right attitude and respects each other.

Very nice range and great staff just be aware that you can't shoot .50 BMG here. The owner was really great about it and hopes to be able to in the future but still highly recommend this place for sure.

Although I like the range it has changed and my experience has been negatively affected. The ROΓÇÖs are a little annoying giving advice that is not asked for. The vibe for me was not good. The lower range used to have a few small steel targets hung at 200 yards to verify zero and hit a smaller target at range, now thereΓÇÖs nothing. Could be more fun with small amount of effort. The new target holders do not keep the target stable even in the smallest wind.

This shooting range is a very safe and clean facility. At $10 per visit for unlimited shooting time it is a bargain! Included with the range fee is a target frame and target. The staff is knowledgeable and courteous.

Excellent range. Plenty of parking, plenty of lanes, and clean bathrooms. Their hours are very limited to the public, but it's a great experience once you're here. It's FAR from the center of town, but you already know you're in for a bit of a drive before you leave to come here. It's well worth it.

Very nice range, highly recommend it. Have some ammo you can buy and ear plugs and safety glasses. Cannot use ferrous metal ammo due to spark danger of a fire. Very friend employees.

This is really a premier public shooting range. There are lots of options for various weapon systems. They also have a Single Action Shooting Society (SASS) range run by the Oregon Trail Rough Riders (OTRR). It had 12 stages with dedicated unique old west style facade buildings.

This is the best shooting range in the Boise area, bar none. Only wish it was open during the week.

This area has really been improved. Last time I went out here to shoot is was a bunch of old refrigerators. Fish and Game has taken charge and made it a first rate facility. Staff is strong on safety (very important), shooting lanes were safely spaced, and the other guests were safe as well. Highly recommended.
