Had a great time here with my brother in law. People are respectful of the facility and itΓÇÖs a beautiful mountainous place to be unkind to your target.

Great range, but those deep potholes in the road on the way in really need to at least be filled with small rocks or something. It's a one lane road and if someone gets stuck, everyone will. Nice range for breaking in a new gun. Do remember it's only wood, paper and cardboard targets.

Best public range I've ever been to. Even made a few new friends while I was there

If you pull up and thereΓÇÖs a Dodge Challenger in the parking lot, maybe wait for the kids with the high capacity Glocks to stop spraying before you set up but other than that itΓÇÖs a nice safe place to shoot.

I'm glad the range is here and appreciate the volunteers who clean up brass! Be sure you communicate whether you load your own and only pick up the brass fire. There are teenagers who regularly visit the range during the week and indiscriminately firelocks into the distance without a target, but none of them have ever actually endangered themselves or other people just youthful silliness . God bless America.

Secluded area with lots of benches under a covered section. Great if you can get there in a slow day. Otherwise you might be waiting a long time to get to shoot.

Love the free (donate) outdoor ranges. Much better than dealing with heavy restrictions, having to use in store ammo, and breathing in the fumes at the indoor ranges. Big bonus on being able to practice your draw, fire from the hip, and use/operate the firearm as you would in real life and in an emergency, not staged and prepped. There are several comments on here seeing people are unsafe or you should wear body armor while there... how many people have been shot at any of these outdoor ranges and when was the last time it happened here. I imagine never otherwise it likely would have been shut down already

Bring some kind of shooting stand. No boards to set a target on.

Great place, youΓÇÖll meet some of the nicest and weirdest people here, you just gotta keep your head on a swivel. When itΓÇÖs a busy day I recommend wearing body armor but canΓÇÖt complain for free. Please just clean up after yourselves.

It was a nice secluded range for the public with many shooting stations! I loved my time there, I was able to focus and have fun!

This place cannot be public anymore. Twice now I've been present when someone has started shooting while one or more people are down range still. Ive seen people handling firearms while others are down range multiple times as well as people with terrible muzzle discipline flagging other shooters. Somethings got to change out here.

Simple, yet entertaining outdoor gun range! If you're in the mountains in Virginia and wanna shoot some rounds, this would be the place to go. Only complaints I would have is: 1.) You have to bring your own targets if you want to use any, although there is some cups and bottles you could use too LOL; 2.) there is a separate range basically for shotguns only, while rifles and pistols can be used on the main one; 3.) There is an EXTREMELY steep road leading up to the main range, thus I would recommend parking at the base, grab your gear, and walk up the road to the range to have your explosive entertainment. Despite these minor issues, I and my party had tons of fun. Everybody at the range were polite and well coordinated when making cold and hot calls. And, if I were ever back in the mountains, I would absolutely return again.
