Q: Do i need to have gum permit to go there with my wife to shoot thanks
A: If you legally own your firearms, like if you legally bought them while living in another state etc. you can shoot them here without a permit. However, in order to buy ammo, a firearm, or rent one of our firearms, you do need a pistol permit. You can also accompany a friend that has firearms and shoot with them, there is no limit on how guests a permit holder can bring. If you do not have a permit, or someone you can go with, you can call and schedule a private instruction, where you can use our rentals while accompanied with one of our licensed instructor.
- Blue Trail Range Marketing (3 months ago)
A: You may not shoot without a permit unless you are accompanied by a permit holder or an instructor. Permit holders can only bring 1 person each. Be sure to bring your permit card along with you.
- Chántel Francis (2 years ago)
A: Permit not needed but must be transported legally.
- Ralph Solli (6 years ago)
A: I believe you do need to have a permit to shoot but you can bring an unlicensed person and they can shoot and you're responsible for them!
- Theresa Ruelle (6 years ago)
A: I dont think they require a permit to shoot, but you need to transport your guns there legally.
- Troy Marrotte (6 years ago)
Q: i have a valid pistol permit. my brother dosen't, can he shoot with me off my permit?
A: Yes he can!
- Blue Trail Range (6 years ago)
A: Yes
- Tony S (6 years ago)
A: Yes, he can come with you to the range and use your firearm. Both are charged the daily fee of $34 (we no longer charge by the hour). We are also running a winter special of $19.99 per day Monday thru Friday for the months of Jan and Feb. Visit our website at https://www.bluetrailrange.com/shooting-range-winter-specials/
- Deborah Lyman (6 years ago)
A: Yes he can. Permit is to own and carry not shoot. Bring him up let him enjoy and get his own permit.
- Greg Peck (6 years ago)
Q: my pistol permit is expired. am I allowed to use the range with just a valid drivers license?
A: As long as you can legally own and transport the firearm, you can shoot it here with just a driver's license, but keep in mind you do need a permit in order to buy ammo in Connecticut.
- Blue Trail Range Marketing (3 months ago)
Q: Will your 200 yard range ever be opening back up?
A: Unfortunately as of now, the 200yrd range will not be opening back up.
- Blue Trail Range Marketing (3 months ago)
Q: Are we able to still use our pistol brace on our rifles? Under 16in at the range
A: You can shoot whatever you are allowed to legally own in Ct, Blue Trail Range is not responsible for verifying compliance. Anything with a pistol brace though would have to be used on the rifle lanes shooting at either 50 or 100yrds.
- Blue Trail Range Marketing (3 months ago)
Q: What Ammunition is allowed for Shotguns?
A: When shooting at paper targets on the rifle lanes, you must use slugs shooting at either 50 or 100yrds. When shooting clays on the shotgun field, you must use target or bird shot. Buck shot cannot be used anywhere on the range.

A: Thank you for the response

Q: does Blue Trail Range sell amunition
A: Yes
- Gregg Prior (a year ago)
A: Yes, we have a large selection of commonly used ammunition. We do sometimes carry some more obscure calibers, but give us a ring ahead of time to check if you're looking for something out of the ordinary.
- Blue Trail Range Marketing (3 months ago)
Q: Can you setup and shoot a steel target on the shotgun field? Or are you limited to clay only?
A: On the Shotgun Field you are limited to clays only...

Conneticuts best puplic, outdoors, shooting range! Easy to get to, a cheap place to shoot, a great full service gun shop and just a legal place to shoot...no hassels... Highly recommended! Pete Thompson

Excellent outdoor range with benches for shooting rifle at 50-100 yards and standing bays for pistols. The shop is pretty good with all the common (and some less common) calibers and a decent number of firearms for sale. They have an indoor .22LR range as well that I haven't used but appears to be very good.

Awesome place! Plenty of firing points with pistols on one half and rifles on the other plus a shotgun field across the street! The RSO's are knowledgeable and very helpful. They also have a food truck on weekends. If you enjoy shooting I highly recommend Blue Trail. Where else can you shoot all day for $38?

Had a great permit class with Mark, he went through everything in a very entertaining way! It made me listen and pay attention. So much info was given in a condensed way. I also recommend doing the MA and UT classes. Joe went through everything very quickly and made sure we had all the info we needed. And Jim was awesome leading me through the firing test. I struggled a lot getting it within the black circle but he helped me through about 4 mags until I got my shots. Will definitely be back to shoot!!

Booked a permit class, showed up late which I take full accountability for. However the instructor was immediately disrespectful to me as soon as I walked in the room. I had no problem rescheduling but thereΓÇÖs no excuse to talk to someone like that especially a customer. My husband was also spoken to rudely when he went in to explain the situation on my behalf.

I chose Blue Trail for CT Pistol Permit class because of their reputation. Mark our instructor & Deb the owner was excellent. You leave with everything needed to get your permit!

I visited Blue Trail Range to take the pistol certification course. It was a great experience. The instructor, Mark, was awesome. I don't know where he gets the energy to talk for almost 8 hours straight, but he is able to convey a ton of knowledge and has a great sense of humor. The day went by fast! Looking forward to getting my permit so I can return to Blue Trail to buy my first pistol (and read the manual 105 times), shoot, and take more classes.

I came here for the pistol permit class and it was better than I EXPECTED! Plus affordable! My instructor mark was very informative but also had a great sense of humor that made the 8 hours go by fast. The employees are very professional and willing to answer all of the questions you have. I learned so much today and had a blast. I will now only choose this range to up my skills. I highly suggest Blue trail range!

A great place for a relaxing day of range therapy, this range has a one price for each range. That's right, you pay one reasonable fee for either the pistol, rifle or shotgun range and you can shoot all day long without an RSO breathing down your neck because your time is up. They also have a great snack bar in case you get hungry (I eat lunch there). The staff are always super nice and helpful! You can also get private lessons for more advanced training. The rifle range has target points at 25, 50, 56 and 100 yards. The pistol range goes out to around 25 yards, and the shotgun range has skeet shooting. You can also rent metal targets at the shop, as well as buy targets and eye/ear protection in case you didn't bring your own. They also sell firearms in the shop (they have their FFL) and the prices are fair. The range is family friendly (I bring my 12 year old son to play games of battleship with our .22s.). So if you are looking for a great place to enjoy the day honing your skills, definitely give Blue Trail Range a try!

Best outdoor range IΓÇÖve been to in Connecticut. Facilities are great - the new pavilion is very nice. Unlike other outdoor public ranges - range Marshalls at Blue Trail are respectful of patrons while maintaining a safe environment for all in attendance.

I wish this range was closer to home. I used their outdoor range, and the only issue was that it was hard to hear the office ranger calling the ceasefire using a megaphone. They have to fix their mic systems, but overall, they have excellent service and reasonable price for the range pass. I would come back anytime.

I haven't been here just yet, but from reading the reviews it sounds like a great place to get in some target practice! I just was wondering if this range allows for pcp rifles? These are pre-charged pneumatic pellet air rifles! I have a .30 caliber Ed Gun Leshiy2 that I would like to use for target practice. If anyone can answer this question, that would be great!
