Q: Ive never visited. Are there bench rests at the 100 & 200yd lanes or do visitors shoot prone ?
A: There are benches to shoot from, you can move them to different distances or call ahead to make sure they are set up where you would like to shoot from. Often I shoot off the bed of my truck or prone.

I absolutely love this place!! Staff are friendly, professional, and competent. They do not tolerate BS behavior and it's refreshing to see them protect good shooters by correcting (or ejecting) bad actors. Staff are very clearly PROUD of where they work and what they do. The facility itself is fantastic. It's near the river so, astonishingly, you may encounter some mud. It's part of the experience so harden up. You get clear blue skies, safe and well-sized shooting areas, and the ability to REALLY train. If you're a retired LE, a comp shooter, retired MIL, or an otherwise experienced pew-pew-er..... you gotta give Brazos River a chance.

What a great and relaxing low-key place to keep your skills up. My son suggested this club and it was good suggestion the gentleman and his staff are very very Texas friendly folks. All I wanted to do was confirm my zero on my deer rifle which I did I was in and out fast because I had things to do that day before I went hunting. I'm glad I did cuz a few days later I had a nice deer come out of 170 yards and I was confident in the rifle and I knew I could make that shot. And I did folks if you're going to go hunting be ethical get your zeros on your rifle so you don't gut shoot or wound our precious wildlife that the good Lord gave us

i recently visited this open gun range that i looked up in google and thought to pay for a visit and was thoroughly impressed! The range fee was like $20 (i think) and $10 per gun. The range was incredibly spacious, allowing plenty of room to move around and shoot comfortably, they provide paper targets and set it up for you if you don't have one. The cleanliness was top-notch, and the overall atmosphere had a peaceful vibe that made for a really enjoyable experience. But what really stood out was the exceptional customer service, the owner and staff were all super chill and helpful, taking the time to answer questions and offer guidance. Whether you're a seasoned shooter, veteran or a beginner, this range is definitely worth checking out.

I went last week. The range is divided up very well. So you have own little spot and it is private. So you can work on your skills uninterupted. They are big on safety and challenge you when you dont have the right gear on. So be mindful and respectful when the remind of your short comings. I thought they were very professional for being just old country folk.

My son, who is active military, was visiting after being deployed to Iraq for 8 months. I called the other shooting range but was not wowed by any until Brazos. Veterans, Active Military is free. Not the $5 discount the others offered. Thank you for the acknowledgment and RESPECT of our military. They went above to assist and made sure we had the best experience. Right down to bringing us gun oil that we forgot. I would highly recommend this place. We felt like family. The property is spacious, large, and beautiful. Felt like home. We will be back.

The best experience I had at a local gun range. It's about an hour from downtown Houston. Mr. Leigh John (The owner) and his staff treated us like family even though it was my first time there. What I love about it here is you get your own independent spot with just your group. You don't have to worry about other people and waiting for a cease fire like other outdoor ranges. Free paper target is a plus! Be smart, use common sense here and you will have a great time. Can't wait to go back! Tip: bring a canopy if you have a big group with lots of guns. It will help keep you shaded during the rough Texas summer heat. Remember to pack drinks with a cooler and stay hydrated.

Been to 3 outdoor ranges here in Houston area. This is the best so far. Free target papers and would even let you borrow their staple gun. A lot of shooting bays. The most memorable incident with me was when the owner was not at the reception area and he told me just go inside the house and his wife is there to help me and I told him that but your dogs are near the door and his reply was you are not afraid of guns but you are afraid of dogs? Lol

Visited this range for the first time on 03/30/24. Drove over an hour just to experience this range due to all the positive reviews and scenery. Where do I even start. Getting there we were warmly greeted by several of the staff members, including two dogs and a cat. Checking in was very easy, we got a run down of everything and how it was going to work, and then we got taken to our shooting bay. Tons of bays to accommodate tons of people. Free paper targets were provided which is also a plus, and pricing for 5 people and 7 guns was great. Had a blast with everyone and the scenery was beautiful. Would definitely recommend if you are looking for a change of pace from an indoor range.

Still malding over this tbh. Owner came by and pestered me, about 20 minutes into my stay, when I was going to leave. Informed him I had just showed up and won't be leave for at least another hour or so. Drove off mumbling something to himself. 15 minutes later, same ordeal. Pestering about when am I gonna leave. I told him again, that I just got started. He cut me off mid sentence and called me a word that rhymes with trigger, and proceeded to berate me. I saw red, but held my cool, packed my stuff up and left shortly after. Best of luck shorty.

Would not recommend this place to anyone. Cash only place! No steel target/paper target only. Poor target setup. They are using broken wooden pallet as target setup and they just change their policy for the weekend. No explanation for the weekend policy change when sign in. It took me and my friends 45min to setup our OWN target and after shooting for less than 30min range staff come by and told us ΓÇ£Oh you guys have 5min left on the range. We just change our weekend shooting time policy.ΓÇ¥ I plan my day having fun shooting with 2 of my friends and this just ruin everything. This is the last time I will go to this range. I rather go to American Shooting Center now. Updated Response to the Owner (3-15-2024) Owner statement was base on description from the range officer. If you consider hard cardboard paper as steel and aluminum rod that holding the cardboard was steel also then you can have your range officer out using magnet to test them instead bluntly accusing us of using steel. We ask you if we could use aluminum and you said Yes. We only use aluminum rod to hold the target. Now you flip the story. Also donΓÇÖt worry I will definitely NOT coming back.

I have spent a lot of money here. That will change in the future. The cost is less than $1 different than American Shooting Center for me and my son combined. The cost for Carter's Country is half of that. Both have far superior facilities and neither have a time limit. Today I was rushed through with the owner and the attendant both coming to ask when I would be finished. The first time I was visited was less than an hour from the time I started shooting. There is only 1 100 yd lane. It is also the 200 and 300 yd lane. I have been here several times when it was being used and never had anyone tell me that they would expedite the people in front of me. If I had been told prior to today I would be spending $40 with the expectation of shooting for 1 or 1.5 hours and being interrupted twice to see when I would be finished , I would never have come. Be ware! UPDATED 3/12/24 - The owner's response is completely false. The fee at the time of the incident was $20/head. That was what got the total to $40. Only me and my son were present, and we only had 1 gun each. We had been there several times before with the same fee for the same number of people and same number of guns. There was only 1 complaint and that incident was bad enough to be accompanied by a review on Google. That was the original review. Interesting that the owner's memory is good enough to remember these false accusations 4 years after the review. Shooting over the berm???? Give me a break! Did it really take him 4 years to think of that false statement or to request that I not come back? I haven't been back since and I had no intentions of even thinking about this place again until I saw the owner's response today. Creating a response after 4 years that is full of false statements does not change the validity of the original review.

First time here I was honestly skeptical given some of the negative reviews others have left but I’ll definitely be coming back. I called ahead and the owner reserved a lane for me, and answered my questions for targets - I was told they no longer offer steel targets but provide free paper ones. The gentleman that lead me to the range also helped me zero in my red dot for my weapon. If you’re new to firearms and have never shot I would not recommend this range. However If you’re an experienced shooter and prefer outdoor ranges without a RO counting the seconds between your shots and breathing down your neck then this is definitely the place for you. Thank you Brazos River Sportsman’s Club, I had a great time and you’ve earned a happy repeat customer 👍
