Questions & Answers

Q: Do they allow 10 gauge shotguns? Target loads are near impossible to find for that caliber, if so what type of 10 gauge shells can I bring?

A: Hi Ryan, Thanks for reaching out. Yes,10-gauge shotguns are allowed at the Cache Valley Shooting Range. If you're going to shoot clays, you will need to bring target loads #9, #8 and #7.5. These shot sizes will stay within the range's shot fall area. If you just want to shoot the gun, you can shoot it at the pattern board or on the pistol bay into the dirt. If you have any more questions, please call the range during their hours of operation (435) 753-4600.

Q: If I am over 18 and I bring a friend that isnt 18 will they need parent permission such as a signed form?

A: Thanks for reaching out, Ryan. Anyone 16 years old and younger must have adult supervision. A good reference for checking the regulations at this shooting range can be found here: https://wildlife.utah.gov/lee-kay-rules.html

Their rangers are always nice and helpful. They are very willing to share their knowledge about shooting techniques and firearms. The hunting class here is also very good.

This range has friendly staff and nice facilities, but the rules need to be updated if this range would like to stay relevant. A few examples of these rules are: 1. "No human-like targets." Spoiler alert: firearms are mainly meant for use against humans. (Your staff doesn't agree with this either). 2. "No rapid-fire." There are ways to incorporate this. Proficiency with rapid fire creates a safer gun community. I can understand a concern with people shooting over backstops, and again, this can be managed. 3. "No drawing from a holster unless sworn Law Enforcement." This by far is the most ridiculous rule. Any safety concerns with civilians drawing from holsters are nullified by the reality that civilians in the gun community are generally more proficient than their LE counterparts. This looks like typical LE gatekeeping. Should this rule be abolished, I WOULD recommend a restriction on holster types, such as "OWB only" or "non-leather/fabric IWB only." The 2A community is modernizing. Your card-carrying NRA members that shoot twice a year to prepare for deer season are now a minority. It's time to get up to speed. If you have an issue with any of these points, I have a feeling you're unable to run a sub-8 minute mile.

Great range! Many lanes, where you can shoot any anything here. They host competition. Friendly staff. Well maintained. Fair price to shoot. There are so many lanes I've never been here when it felt crowded.
