Calverton Shooting Range Inc

Q: In between shooting your rifles can you fire pistols on the same range, or do you have to pack up and move to pistol range?
A: Yes you can
- Stella Lambros (4 years ago)
Q: IΓÇÖm 18, would I be able to bring my 16 year old brother to shoot with me?
A: Yes but you are responsible for him. Before you go talk about gun safety Always keep the firearm pointed in a safe direction Always keep your finger off the trigger until your ready to shoot Always keep the gun unloaded until your ready to shoot Unpack & pack up all gun cases at the line only Be safe and have fun👍
- Anthony Dagostino (5 years ago)
A: You should consider signing up for the hunter safety course. You can find locations near you on the DEC website and you can both learn about firearms safety before going by yourselves.
- Christian Bacigalupo (5 years ago)
Q: Do they give active military discounts?
A: As of this date, no they do not.
- Mark Franks (6 years ago)
Q: Do u provide rifle lessons for beginners, and if not, can u recommend a place that does? Thank u
A: They do not on a day to day basis (although range officers will help you if they have the time), but third party classes are often held at this range.
- Joshua Tyte (5 years ago)
Q: What is the age limit a youngster can shoot a rifle accompanied by an adult at this range.
A: 12 in new york but as long as it's safe no one cares
- thomas castellano (3 years ago)
Q: Are shotguns allowed? 12 gauge?
A: Yes they have a separate area for shotguns however if you want to shoot close range like home defense practice bring your own stand and target. And be prepared to take it back with you when you are done I personally bring wood pallets and stack them. Some people bring wooden stakes and hammer them into the ground. They do have stationary target stands at the back of the shotgun range back stop but for me that's only good if you are running slugs since they are pretty far away
- Marcus Agosto (4 years ago)
A: Most likely in the skeet shooting area of the range, I've only been at the Rifle area personally
- Dan Spitzer (4 years ago)
Q: Do you guys rent out range bays? So one can practice on their own or group?
A: There is a back range, call the main number and contact Harry for more information
- Anthony Dagostino (5 years ago)
Q: Do they allow you to shoot 12 gage 00 buck
A: Maybe not at the clay targets. Mut you can shoot targets with any load
- deric windus (5 years ago)
A: Nobody ever said you couldn't to me
- big mak (6 years ago)
A: Yes- there is a dedicated area next to the pistol line where you can pattern a shotgun. It is against range rules, however, to fire scatter shot on the rifle line. It's also pointless and will hit other lane's targets since the targets aren 50 yards minimum and right next to each other.
- Joshua Tyte (5 years ago)
A: No
- Virginia Gianni (6 years ago)
Q: Do they take credit and debit cards?
A: Cash only. Store and entry
- greg herbst (7 years ago)
A: No cards
- gary haller (7 years ago)
A: No cards. Only cash. But I think that Brookhaven does.
- JAE CED (7 years ago)
A: Cash only pretty sure!!
- DJ ANZ (7 years ago)
A: I don't think so to enter but the store inside might if you want to buy ammo and stuff.
- Matthew Hart (7 years ago)
Q: IΓÇÖm 25 can I bring my 16 year old nephew with me and is he allowed to shoot?
A: No

Love shooting here. Best part is backing up my pick-up right to my shooting table. Follow good rifle safety rules and practices, and have a great time. I bring my targets already mounted to cardboard and then just screw them to their target boards with a couple of 3 inch deck screws and a screw gun. Their target boards can be beat up where it's hard to mount a target with a staple gun.

The place is like the Wild West….. I stopped going here many years ago because the horrible customer service, and how careless everyone is. After 10 plus years I just recently tried going, to no surprise it’s still the same. I’ve been handling firearms since I was about 7 years old, and am now 42yo. I was taught weapon safety from a young age and it’s imbedded in my brain. Ive never had so many loaded firearms point at me or in my general direction until I went here. There needs to be someone watching the line at all times, and I mean really watching. The place definitely has potential…… It really needs some people who care about their job, and the safety of others. Wish I had something better to say as I hate to leave negative reviews of local businesses, but this is the reality.

Waited forever before that old dude in the jeep drove up. Garbage individual with zero respect for anyone, even worse as an SRO. Yells out instruction over a bullhorn, which if you are on the opposite side of where he is, you will not be able to hear him. Then he gets upset at anyone that canΓÇÖt hear the pathetic bullhorn and starts berating and insulting the shooters, insinuating they canΓÇÖt speak or understand English. Guy is a total douche and IΓÇÖll never waste my time or money there again

Calverton shooting range is by far the best shooting range on Long Island. Has everything for rifle, shotgun, handguns and even archery shooters. Everyone there is super friendly. Plus if you run out or forgot to bring ammo, hearing protection, targets exc they have store to get all of it. Every time I leave there itΓÇÖs always with a smile.

It's a pretty nice outdoor range. The people that I interacted with are all very nice. From the range officers to the people in the office. It's outdoor and has different places where you can shoot things like handguns shotguns and rifles. And it has different distances for rifles as well.

There is no room for childish unprofessionalism in our shooting community. The owner of Calverton, who is ashamed of posting his name, responded in a most undisciplined way to Ryan Berg's review his gun range.

Now that Brookhaven is so great this place really stinks. Good luck sighting in a new rifle and scope at 100 yards, for the longest time you could set up your own targets, so if you need to get on at 50 and then dial in at 100 you could, not anymore. Also you can only shoot shotguns at the 50 yard.... How am I supposed to pattern my shotgun at 15 yards? You can't, because they yell at you for bringing your own targets. There are a few gun nuts who they let do whatever they want, but treat others differently, that's wrong. They put up wood targets 10 yards away and blast away at rapid fire, and the range guys say nothing. I try to set up at target at 50 Yrds and I'm yelled at that I can't do that, what is it??? Absolute BS. Brookhaven is worth the money, plus they have steel targets and I don't get yelled at for shooting for than one shot every 10 seconds.

First time here. Lots of freedom to do / train as you wish. Wasn't sure how it worked because the were wasn't much guidance so I simply asked a local and he helped me out. I bout my own guns and ammo and bought a few paper targets from the shop. Also Idk why some of these reviews are trash, it's almost like people are complaining that they're "too free" lol. Some people say they had issues with the older dude who drives the green jeep and calls the ceasefire. But I think he's the man! He was very respectful. And he means business( after all , he's got a shop to run) just Be respectful and leave the guy alone. It's as simple as that. Overall great range. Drove an hour and a half to here will probably be back. Cheers.

There is nothing to complain about at this price. The only negative is that the old man is a little arrogant and discriminating.

Range is a joke. Old boomer range officers will yell at you for shooting more then one shot a minute but are perfectly OK with people flagging others with loaded fire arms. They'll call a cease fire and not verify the range is infact cold or safe and call the range hot while people are still down range walking back from there targets. That's just the rifle side, pistol side has no range officers and calls there own cease fires which often results in someone almost getting shot walking down to or back from there target. Someone shot there finger off a few years ago that should tell you all you need to know about this literal dust bowl of a shooting range. If you want to go to the wild west and risk getting shot by some dope then this is your range. If you want a safe, pleasant experience with Arsoa's who actually care about your safety, go to Brookhaven, 15 minutes north of this range.

### Review I recently visited Calverton Shooting Ringe Inc and was extremely disappointed by the discriminatory treatment I witnessed. It's disheartening to see such blatant racial bias in this day and age. I observed a significant difference in how customers of different races were treated. Non-white patrons, including myself, were subjected to longer wait times and received noticeably colder interactions from the staff. In contrast, white customers were served promptly and with a friendly demeanor. This kind of racial discrimination is completely unacceptable and undermines the values of fairness and equality that every business should uphold. ItΓÇÖs shocking and upsetting that such behavior is allowed to persist at Calverton Shooting Ringe Inc. I urge the management to take immediate action to address this issue. Implementing comprehensive anti-discrimination training for staff and establishing clear service standards would be a step in the right direction. All customers, regardless of their race, deserve to be treated with respect and dignity. Until significant changes are made, I cannot in good conscience recommend Calverton Shooting Ringe Inc to anyone. Discrimination has no place in any establishment, and it's time for [Shooting Range Name] to ensure that all its customers are treated equally. Sincerely disappointed,

I love Calverton Shooting Range with all my heart. I would love to give them five stars, but I just can't with that grumpy old dude in the green jeep screaming at people with bull horns kicking people off of his property for rules unknown and reasons unknown. Learn how to treat customers, better yet, PEOPLE. What happened to this place :(

This is a shooters paradise. Love this place very chill and for people who know they're guns. I saw one review where some guy gave it 1 star and complained because he got kicked out lol. I been going here for some time now and let me tell you it's safe and that the owner harry doesn't play games you have to listen to his instructions simple as that.cause any fool anywhere could cause an accident if they are an idiot with a gun and that's what you don't do cause if the owner here catches you he will remove you and you won't be welcomed back.

This place is the worst range on Long Island New York. It gives every shooting range a bad name. If I could give this place negative 1000 Stars then I would. It doesn't even deserve one star but that's the lowest Google will allow. Like everyone else stated in these reviews that left a bad review, the grumpy disrespectful non-safety compliant old man in a green Jeep randomly meets you, belittles berates and disrespects you as if he is in jail as if you just are his ex-wife that he is forced to see against his will. Most disrespectful "range officer" in existence. There is no safety here. I've heard multiple reviews of this guy saying the line is cold then doesn't even check to see if weapons are unloaded or are on tables facing the correct way. And while people are still walking back from setting their targets up he says range is hot. I've heard he almost got people killed due to his negligence. Galatians 6:7 "a man reaps what he sows". Upon accidentally going to the skeet range instead of the pistols long range rifles and shotgun Target area, he proceeds to drive down the hill screaming like a maniac, gets out of his jeep screaming and belittling me and my friend then proceeds to tell us to get out that we weren't supposed to be down there that we were not supposed to be passed some imaginary line that was non-existent and that he told us to go to the other side meanwhile we told him that we were using paper targets. He didn't direct us where to go and then demanded that we leave and throw us out. I strongly discourage anyone from going here if they care about their life, gun safety, and actually want to get into shooting avoid this place like cancer. I will never be back ever again. If anyone wants a great range head over to Brookhaven range a few minutes up the road much more professional, safe, friendly and it's the same $25 range fee. The only downside is you can only shoot slugs with regular barrel length shotguns otherwise you need a 26-inch barrel for skeet and trap and clay shooting. other than that I will never be back to this range and I would tell everyone to not go here!

Went here recently. The previous time was a few years ago. The first time immediately entering we met with this severely angry and unprofessional old man. Completely condescending and snapped at us for no reason. Figured he had a bad day. Shot our fill and went home. Fast forward 3 years later... we go back. Driving up we passed a random green Jeep in the middle of the driveway. As we pass they'e honking at us and yelling. Geezus...its the SAME cranky ahole from 3 years ago. He yelled at us to "Back up, back it up!!". He lectured us for about 5 minutes. Honestly, how the heII were we supposed to know who he was?? What's the point of the booth ahead? After he had his fill acting like an absolute child, he asks "pistol or rifle range?". I said rifle since we were going to the shot gun skeet area. FYI: A shotgun is in the same class as a rifle, both called 'long guns'. Figured that's what he meant. We gave him our money and moved on. 5 minutes later he pulls up yelling through a friggen bullhorn about how we were "in the wrong area". I told him he only gave us two options. Turns out both area's are the same exact fee, so it made ZERO difference anyway. As we settled into the skeet area, we decided to move a table station closer to our other party we met with. It made no functional difference. Guess who comes by? Yep, same unhinged oldman in the green Jeep. On his bullhorn (which probably smells like cigarettes and regret) he again goes on a rage filled tirade about how we're "disrespecting his range" by moving tables like it was "his house". Really guy? Imagine a restaurant employee yelling at you for pulling up an extra chair or table to make room for guests. Listen dude, I just paid you a ridiculous amount of money ($50) to shoot MY ammo, in MY gun, using MY targets and MY clays. It costs you virtually zero overhead for us to be there for an hour since you ALSO make it mandatory for us to clean up after we're done. (Apparently the only perks that fee gives is a complimentary scolding by a shell of a man who hates life) So after your entry fee, you dont even get to move about to the other ranges after. (Yes, this butthoIe actually expects you to pay ANOTHER full fee just to use a different firearm). Fine. Your policy I guess. But the LEAST you could do is not be a full blown dbag about every single thing you deem wrong. Not actively pursue and stalk your customers just to gripe about the most minor of infractions. Talk about angry micromanagement. They have counseling for your type man. Get help. Needless to say I'll NEVER go back there. I dont care if he's "like that with everyone". If I wanted to volunteer my time to be treated like garbage, I'll join the Army. At least there I'll get a free education, food, housing and a career. Heres a big F U to the miserable C-sucker in the green Jeep. I also call total BS on these "5 star reviews". What range did you shoot at??

Great place to practice. They give you just enough freedom to become a better shooter but at the same time keep it safe. The people there are amazing. Not only the staff, but the actual people that are there to practice themselves. IΓÇÖve learned a lot since IΓÇÖve been going there. Lots of military and police.
