Caswell Shooting Range
Over 1,600 acres of forest, featuring hunting, fishing & NC's largest population of wild turkeys.

Q: I shoot big bore air rifles up to .50 that produce 700 ft lbs of energy would that be allowed? Secondly would there be an electrical outlet to plug in my very small compressor for refilling my air rifle reservoirs?
A: They may have an outlet, but you'd probably need a long extension cord to reach it. It's perfectly OK to shoot air guns at this range.
- Nick LaSpaluto (a year ago)
Q: Do you have archery range and shot gun
A: Yes, they have a new archery rang they just opened, a 100 yrd rifle and shotgun range and a sweet little pistol range but get there early they only have 5 lanes on pistol and rifle ranges not sure how many lanes on the archery range.
- Kofi Bates (6 years ago)
A: They recently opened a 3D archery range. I posted a couple of pictures of it if you look on Google maps.
- Jake Vickers (6 years ago)
A: Shotgun yes. I've never seen an archery range. Only pistol n rifle.
- Rocco Principe (6 years ago)
A: Yes
- Florencio Garcia (6 years ago)
Q: I just drove from durham to find out the range was closed for a youth hunt. Is there a place i can findout this info before i drive 45 mins again?
A: It is posted closed Mon-Weds and open Thurs-Sat 9-5, Sun 1-5
- Edgar Almeyda (6 years ago)
A: Try the website they have a listing of closed days such as special permit hunting.
- Al Bracey (7 years ago)
Q: IΓÇÖll be in the area on a Saturday coming up soon. How busy is the range on a typical Saturday when they first open?
A: They are usually very busy. Best advice is be there prior to opening 30 to 45 minutes. That should get you into a lane. They only 5 positions for rifle and 5 for handgun. If you dont have a range a card you will have to take their 10 minute video class to get the card enter range. If your not first 5 in line prior to gate opening, it can be a wait.
- Tony Baker (2 years ago)
Q: Do you have to pay to enter there?
A: Nope!
- Jim Craddock (3 years ago)
Q: If we bring our own thrower can we shoot clays?
A: No
- Chris Schema (4 years ago)
Q: What are the present days and hours.I have used the range before but I am assuming there may have been some changes
A: Thursday through Saturday (9 a.m. to 5 p.m.); Sunday (1 to 5 p.m.). Closed Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, State holidays, and during Special Permit Hunts
- Nick LaSpaluto (a year ago)
Q: Is it possible to use steel targets at 25 yards at pistol range and 50 beyond for rifle ? people waste lots of time moving their torn up targets around at 50 to 100 yards. Safety should be a non issue at that distance.
A: No they do not allow steel targets
- Dean Morron (3 years ago)
Q: How much for the range?
A: There is no fee to use the range. It is paid for by NCWildlife. Be sure to check the website for days and hours - they are normally only open part of the week, and sometimes close for special events.
- Jake Vickers (5 years ago)
Q: Do they open when is raining? Thanks
A: They answer the phone when they are open, the staff keeps people in the loop.

Our family went there the day after Christmas and enjoyed shooting at the pistol range. The Range Safety Officers are extremely helpful and are very strict, but friendly about adhering to the safety rules. We had a great time.

Best Firing range IΓÇÖve been to in a long time, the staff are so friendly and they provide a free range safety course, free safety equipment and targets. ItΓÇÖs outside in the wilderness which I really like. Anybody looking to have a good time without any hassles then you need to come here ASAP!!!

The range itself was great. I love shooting outdoors, and they have a 100yd rifle range. What I didn't like, however, were the conversations and language the range safety officers were using. They were having completely inappropriate conversations and constantly swearing. For this reason, I wouldn't take my wife or daughter there unless things changed.

Nice little Archery practice range. And, it's free! The place seems pretty well regulated too. They give anyone going to the archery range a bright vest to wear, and make everyone visiting sign in and watch a quick 5 minute safety video. There were 3 RSOs on-site when I visited.

One of the best ranges I ever used. Appears newly renovated and clean. Very impressive safety procedures with the red and blue lights and signs. Marqus and all the range officers are knowledgeable and friendly. Would be happy to pay for this level of quality and service, but it's free!

The place says itΓÇÖs open till 5pm but wonΓÇÖt let you shoot after 4:30. That pretty much means you close at 4:30. I donΓÇÖt know if itΓÇÖs because the RSO wants to go home at 5pm, but if that is the case donΓÇÖt deceive people by writing you are open till 5pm. Just put in your website no shooting after 4:30 if thatΓÇÖs what you are going to do. Very deceptive and unprofessional.

My husband. I love coming to this range to practice and learn. It is so clean, both pistol and rifle range so nicely laid out and under shelter. Best of all so well managed and run. I feel very safe as I know that the range masters keep an eye on everyone and are there to help if you have any questions or need instruction- which I welcome! All rangers so extremely knowledgeable on all guns. Have also gotten such great suggestions and advice from rangers which has been extremely helpful. We so appreciate you all! We will be back for sure!

Barry is a great Range Safety Officer here at Caswell County Shooting Range. I appreciate the laid-back atmosphere of this range. Caswell Shooting Range has a rifle, pistol, shotgun and archery range. About an hour from Raleigh - it is free. Update: Thursday, July 14th, 2022 I shot at the Pistol range today and everyone was being safe & courteous. I really appreciate the opportunity to use these public resources. A+ :-) Update: 5 stars
