Q: My wife and I plan on visiting, and would like to know in advance what we need to bring. Also, how much help can the Range Officer give novice shooters, or can arrangements be made for helpful assistance?
A: Range users will need a valid GA hunting license, fishing license or lands pass. These can be purchased at GoOutdoorsGeorgia.com. bring eye and ear protection and of course your guns and ammo. All RSOs will can help a novice shooter get started, but their job is safety not shooting education. if you are interested in shooting check out GA Department of Natural Resources Give It A Shot Programs.

Great space for 100 yard shooting. No RSO but in my experience the shooters self-regulate and coordinate well.

Nice set up. Now that it's 'not manned' it gets little trashy, but I have seen people pick up other people's trash keeping it clean. Make sure to bring your own targets, backboards and maybe stands. The ones there are pretty beat up. The benches are nice and the seats swivel out to accommodate to your shooting posture.

***UNMANED range its not a bad range, the grass needed to be cut the day I was there, arrived at 9:15 am, the gate was open and not a soul there. I would bring your own target stands and targets, or bring some 5 ft. Wooden Garden Stakes for the bases they have there and some carboard, staples, etc. tables are perfect if you using a sled for sighting a rifle, they have two short height tables and the remaining others are tall (pistol/Rifle) between each station is a Screen so no worries about getting hit with hot brass from someone next to you, an they were in good shape too each table has a wooden seat that spins on a base or they also have stools to sit on. the covered area is not much wider than 12ft, so not a lot of room for spectators, or a wagon bring some bug repellent, it'll come in handy, especially in the summer if you have to use the bathroom, lots of flies, its a glorified porta potty, but def cleaner and better than a porta potty!!! and bring water, I didn't see a spout or fountain. overall def worth visiting

Only range in the area that allows paper targets. Make sure you take water because there is none there. Bathroom was clean. Range could use some upkeep-target uprights are most all broken and target netting is falling apart, I took my own target stands and targets. No steel targets allowed. This range is unmanned (no daily support), so make sure you know and adhere to all policies and range safety requirements. DNR staff do come by once in a while daily.

I last visited in Jan last year. The young range officer was very helpful and kept everything safe and structured. I hear it is unmanned now. I will see tomorrow.

This facility went from 5 stars to no stars because it is now unmanned. I think the person in charge of the state ranges is Trevor. What are you doing with the money allocated for this range? I guess control over the range should have been kept by the federal government and/or US Forestry Service which collected money to keep it up. I am willing to bet that it will be like the old Redlands range within a year.

Always a good experience, the range masters are a little strict but that is their job to maintain a safe range.

An really good staff member this Sunday. !11/28/21... I really enjoyed my stay. I got there with only 30 minutes to check how accurate I was NOT. Since there was no one else around, I asked if I could use 2 booths. One for the Ruger All American Nine and the other VSAK by Century. Please forgive me because I forgot his name but, he had no problem and was really cool with helping me setup the rifle target. The guys keep it well maintained and and is as professional as it looks. The rules are basic and easy to understand. The staff communicates very well and I was out of there by 5 minutes until 6. I bought the Land Pass which is $32.50 and it gets me onto just about any property here in Georgia. I really enjoy how many thousands of acres that are available to me for the next 365 days! I get to go to any rifle range for FREE! What a bargain!

My husband, son in law, and daughter went today. Two other family members met there ,as well. This was my first visit. The two young range officers were great. They met us as we exited our cars to explain what was expected. We signed in with hunting/ fishing license numbers. They reviewed the safety rules of the range. They remained available and seemed to enjoy being there. I felt very comfortable because of their attentiveness and the set up of the range. When someone in another party failed to comply with a safety issue, it was immediately addressed. The range officer was clear and firm, but absolutely polite. I thank him for that. I am happy to know that they were watching and holding us all to the required standard. Very clean , too. Thanks, folks.

This was my first visit to a DNR outdoor range, and I was very pleasantly surprised to see that Cedar Creek is staffed by professional safety officers. I brought my daughter (a student at Ga College), her boyfriend, and another friend of theirs along who all love to hunt and shoot as well. Many thanks to Tyler, the safety officer who greeted us when we arrived and briefed us on all of the safety rules and proper range etiquette, and offered us helpful tips and advice throughout the afternoon! Highly recommend!

First time there, or really at any civilian range, Tyler was the range guy, nice spotter, very knowledgable, very safety concious and a people person, good conversation. I saw him get several shooters, young and old, pistol and rifle, on paper. Overall good experience, zeroed at 25 then 50 then shot at 100 to test the drop on my 5.56. This is a WMR range, bring your own stuff, they do have stands for your paper and staple guns though.

Today was my second time here in 3 days and both days were great! Ross the range master was so polite and helpful, gave me some great pointers and advice on my new .380 that I was having an issue with. Safety conscious but not a micromanager or tyrant. Great person who loves his job and helping shooters! Place is very clean with a restroom. Make sure you have your Georgia fishing/ hunting license and it is free. 10 lanes with screens so your neighbor's hot shells don't land in your hair! Shotguns, rifles, pistols, black powder are all welcome. Know and follow the rules, don't be a jerk and rapid fire 13 rounds like you are in Lethal Weapon and you'll be fine.

Shout out to Ross! I had an amazing time at Cedar Creek Shooting range. I came in with about 1500 rounds of ammunition, took my time and shoot for HOURS. You canΓÇÖt beat the price. For many of the hours it was just Ross and I. I canΓÇÖt recommend this place enough. Get your fishing license and check it out.
