Chetola Sporting Reserve

We had a fantastic time shooting clays on a gorgeous February day! Grace and staff were amazing! Treated us like we knew what we were doing even though didnΓÇÖt:) Wish we remembered to take a photo!

My wife and I had an incredible experience shooting clays at the 5-stand station. We are Chetola condominium owners and it was our first time utilizing this resort amenity. All the staff were knowledgeable, attentive, helpful, and very friendly. The warm, inviting club house and multitude of activities offered makes the Reserve a hidden gem and true mountain oasis for singles, couples, or groups, just 30-minutes from the resort. Sampson Road is the best means of access, which is reduced to one lane in two sections due to washout repairs. The last leg is gravel but is currently undergoing upgrades to be fully paved. We will definitely continue to use this amenity and bring friend groups to share the experience. Already looking forward to our next visit.

We recently visited the Chetola Sporting Reserve as an add-on activity to our mountain trip, while staying at Chetola Resort. Since itΓÇÖs private (members or resort guests only), thereΓÇÖs plenty to of space for everyone. We booked a guide at the Sporting Reserve, which I highly recommend. Our guide/instructor was very knowledgeable and helpful and the environment was private, safe and enjoyable. We brought our young children and felt comfortable with them onsite and participating. The guide ensured everyone knew what to do and where to stand for safety and was helping and instructing the whole time. We especially enjoyed the archery! The lodge was warm, welcoming, and very family friendly. The free hot chocolate, board games in front of the fire, and the ManagerΓÇÖs friendly dog were also big hits with our kids. Every staff member we encountered was professional, friendly, helpful, extremely knowledgeable, and everyone we encountered (staff and guests) seemed to promote a family-friendly environment. We will definitely be back!

SIX STAR REVIEW. Last year I took my teenage son to to learn how to skeet shoot. The Director Brett made us feel like we were family and he taught my son how to shoot. HeΓÇÖs hooked now because of Brett. In fact, it was so awesome that I made a deal with my son that this will be an annual F/S trip and we just finished y2 and it did not disappoint. The entire staff embraced us not knowing it was a repeat from year one and we received the best instruction and advice from Matt too. Brett remembered us from Y1 which tells you all you need to know. Go here. ItΓÇÖs the best.

Just wanted to post a review for Chetola Gun Club. I have been a member now for 3 years. Chetola has a wonderful and friendly staff who operate their facility. Brett, Grayson and Grace are the mainstays and are almost like family the way you are treated. I have shot at many, many other clubs that have a clique or snooty feel to them. Not so at Chetola. I am so pleased and impressed by the way you are treated. The clubhouse is gorgeous as well. I hope improvements continue to be made for this to truly be an experience that is absolutely first class. I would easily recommend this place to anyone who wants to come experience shooting of any kind. Whether itΓÇÖs pistol shooting , rifle shooting or sporting clays with shotguns, Chetola is a 5 Star facility with a 5 Star staff !!! Wife and I have been very happy members for three years now. The staff and facilities are top notch. The training support and patience in the learning process has been extraordinary. The staff is always eager to assist in assuring safety and a wonderful time is had by all. Every guest I have brought over echoes these comments.

Pretty cool place. Went here for a clay shoot fundraiser. They did a good job of keeping the clay shoots interesting. ItΓÇÖs a beautiful place and the cabin is really nice. Great facility.

Great place to learn different outdoor games. The staff was really helpful and accommodating. I even had car trouble when I was about to leave and the staff helped make sure I was safe to leave. Would highly recommend!

Great time with the family. Staff were very patience with our 8 grandkids under age 10. Great experience. Adults had fun with a shooting clay shoot out.

FANTASTIC experience with Brett, Grayson, Ryan, and Caroline. They were tremendous in teaching our kiddos and set up a terrific adult shooting experience. Amazing time at the Reserve and we are so grateful to their excellent service and hospitality.

Great place for a group shooting activity, with beautiful surroundings. It's a quick walk between the clay course stations, but they're far enough apart that you don't feel like you're on top of each other. The pistol range was fun too.

Chetola Sporting Reserve is awesome! The entire staff there is super friendly and knowledgeable. Our instructor was so patient when working with our family shooting a variety of guns. The facility and range is gorgeous! Thanks for an amazing experience.

Oh my stars, we had the best time ever. This place is great for archery in Boone, archery in blowing rock, riflery in Boone, riflery in blowing rock, target, shooting in Boone, North Carolina, target, shooting and blowing rock North Carolina. Thank you so much for holding our little post-surgical sock- eating Maltese while we had a blast. We did everything, and it was worth every penny. The archery was amazing. The instruction was stellar, the rifflery and other shooting were so fun… Left eye, dominant, who knew? You guys rock. Can’t wait to come back. Please get the same instructor for the little boys since they had him the last two years in a row. Thanks so much.

The shooting was fun but the customer service was awful, we sent an email days before and never received a response. Then we decided to call to make the reservation, and took my name and credit card number. We get there and they hadnΓÇÖt made our reservation, and didnΓÇÖt tell us that the range was 30 minutes away. The instructor the whole time acted like he didnΓÇÖt wanna be there, I then forgot my wallet at the place tried calling them multiple times eventually they answered and said they would go look then no call back for 3 days so I go too the range for them too just tell me they had forgot too call me back and tell me they didnΓÇÖt find it, shooting range is good but you can find better ones with better customer service. On average they DO NOT answer their phones and do not care about even the minimal customer service.

This is a great way to spend the day. Nice guys, good instruction, and a good, fun, challenging course. I have not been clay shooting other than one time about 30 years ago, but I thoroughly enjoyed it.

A very nice facility. The resort area is great, as is the food. The sporting reserve is amazing. Friendly and knowledgeable staff. Decent rifle range, and a great skeet/trap course. Definitely worth checking out, I'll definitely be back!

Outstanding experience with experienced and highly engaged instructors. My whole family, including tweens, loved it. The Italian shotguns we were provided were amazing and a joy to use while the facilities were very modern, clean and comfortable. For us city dwellers, the road to the facility was an adventure in itself.

Booked an hour of archery and air rifle and it exceeded our expectations. Staff was excellent, went above and beyond to make the day enjoyable. We arrived late for our reservation and were still allowed the full time. Amazing service all around - from the front desk to the range staff. Note: the sporting reserve is tucked away in the mountains and the road to get there is a narrow, winding one-way gravel path with steep drop offs on the side. Just FYI for those who don't do well on mountain roads.

My family and I had a great time at Chetola Sporting Reserve. First and foremost, Brett was amazing and went above and beyond with his service, skills and hospitality. We never shot guns before and started with shotguns and clay pigeon's on the 5 stand. Brett took his time and showed us everything we needed to know to shoot accurately and safely. We got ear plugs and a shoulder pad (for the recoil). We then went to another area to shoot targets with rifel and pistols. So much fun. The rifel was our favorite with the scope/laser which made hitting the targets more precise. I got 12/12! A must do if you're in the area. Thanks Brett, again, for making our trip amazing and for being so patient/understanding!

I visited Chetola Sporting Reserve for the first time over the Thanksgiving weekend and was really impressed by the whole experience. Our group only shot a round of sporting clays, but from what I could tell all of the facilities including the 12-stand sporting clays course were very well maintained. The staff went above and beyond to make sure we had a great experience. We had a blast and can't wait to return to shoot again!

I had a great time with the folks at Chetola Sporting Reserve. I went twice during a one week stay at the lodge and enjoyed skeet, archery, and the pistol range. The grounds and facility are excellent. The guys were great and very helpful with instruction for me and my son. I left knowing that I was a better marksman and had a lot of fun. The guys were very helpful and tops in making it a great experience all around. I look forward to going back again. THANKS CHETOLA SPORTING RESERVE!!!!

My family and members of extended family went there just today to go skeet shooting and the staff were very, very friendly and gave very useful advice, were professional, and overall gave us a fantastic experience, with safety being the msot important. Well worth the drive and wish I could give a higher rating.
