Cheyenne Mountain Shooting Complex

Q: How much to shoot if you have your own rifle and ammo
A: $13 dollars for civilians $9.50 for active duty $11 for retired military $7 for kids ages 6-12 This is an all day fee
- Cheyenne Mountain Shooting Complex (2 years ago)
Q: Probably a stupid question but you don't have to actually go on base in order to go to this range correct? It's available to civilians without military connection?
A: Like others have said, *just before* the sentry post, there's a gravel road that heads south. Can be a bit tricky as you're coming off SB I-25, need to get across a couple lanes of traffic into a very short left-turn cutout, watching your rearview mirror while yielding to traffic coming off base.
- Scott Blake (6 years ago)
A: The entrance is not on the base. It is just South of Gate 20. And, the facility is available to civilians.
- Chris Lewandowski (6 years ago)
A: As you approach gate 20 turn left on lane You don't go through gate onto the post but the range is on the property of the post
- Aaron Gatton (6 years ago)
A: Correct. The entrance is just prior the south gate (gate 20).
- F Gonzalez (6 years ago)
A: you are correct. there is a road turn off right before the base.
- lance mcwilliams (6 years ago)
Q: How much is the rental fees and how much does the ammo cost?
A: Rifle rental is only like $12 and ammo is +/- 25 a box. Reasonable.
- John Olynyk (5 years ago)
Q: Do they have sporting clay range
A: There are trap and skeet ranges currently under construction but no timetable for completion avaliable yet. They will not have sporting clays as there is not enough land avaliable for it.
- Z K (6 years ago)
A: Not now, but soon, they say. In the meantime, check out Pikes Peak shooting range. They have multiple shotgun ranges and for shotgun you don't have to be a member, I believe.
- Scott Blake (7 years ago)
A: Not at this time. I did hear that they are trying to get one setup.
- Casey Monson (7 years ago)
A: I do not believe so. Ive only ever shot pistol and rifle there but I've never seen a shotgun range.
- Robert Kirkham (7 years ago)
Q: Hi! Do we have to call ahead and reserve a spot? Or is it "walk-ins welcomed"?
A: ItΓÇÖs all on a walk in basis, no reservations needed
- Cheyenne Mountain Shooting Complex (2 months ago)
A: Thanks so much
- Gabriela Severino (2 months ago)
Q: what is the closest handgun distance? thanks
A: 7 yards
- Cheyenne Mountain Shooting Complex (4 months ago)
Q: What type of guns can you rent?
A: We have rifles, pistols, shotguns
- Cheyenne Mountain Shooting Complex (2 years ago)
Q: What day is less shooter there ?🤔
A: Probably Wensday
- Craig Doremus (5 years ago)
Q: Is there trap/skeet/ sporting clays range? If so, is it two person or voice activated? Are there competition/ classes?
A: Ernest Payton We do have trap/skeet ranges. We have two combo ranges which are nice activated for trap and for skeet you can put it on delay if you are shooting by yourself or have two people so the other person pulls for you. We do not have competitions at the moment but it's something we are looking at doing in the near future. We do not have sporting Clay's range. We do have a certified NRA instructor who provides classes at the range.
- Berto Viorato (5 years ago)
A: No. To close to the highway and Fort Carson...
- Craig Doremus (5 years ago)
Q: What is the exit number of the turnoff coming from the north ?
A: Exit 132B

The time I spent today at the Cheyenne Mountain Shooting Complex was fantastic! I enjoyed every part of it from receiving a good safety briefing to sending rounds down range. The range masters were extremely professional and helpful as they continued their movement/supervision up and down the firing line. I haven't been there in some time but I guarantee I will be going again soon. Thank you again to all the range personnel!

Look Dave, a woman learned how to use Google too! This was our first time at this range and boy was it a rough start. We walk in and Dave greets us and asks if we brought guns, I am the gun person in our family, so I take the lead on the conversation. I say yes, to which he says "very good." He asks what kinds and I start to answer then look away to my husband to see if i forgot any and Dave says "don't look at him, I'm the one asking you." I was stunned that he must have mistaken me, a 30yr old woman, for an army recruit and just stared at him. He then instructs us to read the rules on the wall to our left, then come back and sign the waiver. HE LOOKS RIGHT AT ME and adds "if there are any words up there that are too long or confusing, ask him (looks at my husband) to Google them for you." 2 more people came in, and we were still staring at the wall trying to decide to leave or stay when good old boy Dave shouts to us "you two are the slowest readers!" My husband tried to lighten the mood and said "we're just trying to be thorough." If our friends hadn't already been out there waiting for us I would have left with a certain finger in the air and gone to Magnum. But I kept my mouth shut and we worked with the other guy behind the counter WHO WAS ACTUALLY NICE. And the range officer was AWESOME. So it was quite surprising that Dave was such an ass. I don't know if he has a problem with women or just picks one person in every group to belittle. It's 2024 dude. You need to do better. Especially if you work with customers and want them to come back or leave a good review.

I adore this place; it's clean and safe. The staff are pleasant and helpful. In fact, I'm new to pistol red dots, and the range safety officer took time to assist me. in zeroing my red dot. Prices are competitive and fair. After making a single payment of $14, you can return throughout the day. If you're searching for a new range or your first one, this one exudes a positive vibe and doesn't intimidate or overpower new shooters. This is your place.

DonΓÇÖt come here as in inexperienced shooter hoping for tips and insight. The staff inside was very friendly, and supportive but these RSO must be ex military as they are all on one huge power trip. The rules they rattle off to you are not posted anywhere to my knowledge as it was not brought to my attention but they scream at you the second you do something. Go indoors if you want support and comfort.

One of the most professional ranges I have ever been to. The staff there is top notch. Stephanie was our RSO at range 3. It was evident that safety was a top priority.

Awesome place to go shoot with killer Mountain sights in the background. For morale day, my unit brought us all in the morning to go skeet shooting. Thank god for Warrior Adventure Quest (WAQ) because this experience was a lot of fun.

Great public range. I chose Cheyenne Mountain so I could get scope settings for 200 and 300 yds for my hunting rifle. They run 30 min shooting sessions before target changing so plenry of opportunity to pit up fresh targets and let the barrel cool down.

Judge this place by their bad reviews. You'll find that the complainers all bellyache about the strict enforcement of reasonable range safety rules. I much prefer a range with this level of dedication to safety. The range safety officers can be a bit gruff, but they're just doing their jobs. Being outdoors, this range is a bit weathered from the elements, but the infrastructure is mostly in good shape. Firing lines are protected from sun and rain and you'll find typical barriers between shooting lanes to protect you from flying brass. This range allows the firing of "green tip" NATO rounds as well as large-caliber cartriges, both of which are prohibited at most other ranges in the area. Unfortunately, those permissions mean that the range experience can be much louder and more intense than at an indoor range. Expect to sweep up your own casings. For the downsides: the access roads are unpaved and include a crossing that is subject to high water after intense weather, so if you have the option, bring a vehicle with a higher clearance. There's no running water, so the bathrooms are portajohns, which some people aren't keen on using. Online pricing doesn't mention the requirement of a target stand, which will cost you $6 or $9, depending on which one you buy. This range doesn't update their hours on days when the employees are on leave, so call ahead if you plan to shoot on or around a holiday (example: they were closed the Saturday that was two days after July 4th). Ranges are in full sunlight, which is nice for general shooting, but lousy if you want to zero new optics using a boresight. This also means they can be muddy after rain or snow. I also thought some conditions in the mandatory range waiver were a bit excessive, but whatever, lawyers gonna lawyer. 🤷 Update: I recently bought a 10-punch pass at this range. I was admitted to the range for free on the day that I bought it, making it technically an 11-punch pass. You can use punches to admit people joining you at the range, which is a great benefit. The one downside is that unused punches expire after a year.

Excellent range with a strong focus on safety. I spent nearly 5 hours on my first trip. Everyone from the front counter to the RSO were welcoming and respectful. They did ensure people followed the safety rules though so if you can't you may as well not go. See the 1 star reviews for not following the rules examples.

Absolutely love this place I wish I knew about it sooner! Staff is very kind and accommodating to first time shooters, very knowledgeable and of course stern with their rules which is expected when it comes to dealing with guns! I felt very safe shooting for my first time and staff remained helpful and always willing to answer any questions we had! Prices are great and the area is quite nice. Hope to come by again!

I appreciate having a safe and controlled area for shooting and taking kids out. However, the staff is excessively overbearing, which makes shooting here extremely uncomfortable and stressful. They constantly yell at everyone and micromanage everything you do. I'll stick with Magnum and public outdoor shooting areas instead. You guys considering shooting here should seriously consider Magnum or other shooting ranges. Since these guys are attached to carson they run it like drill sergeants. And yeah of course your over bearing safety staff would say that it's not their fault. I would be willing to come out there and sit down with the specific staff member I'm referring too and have a discussion with you guys

It's your typical vet retiree that's upset all the time. They barely support the 2nd amendment and will very quickly condescend your new shooters. The range facilities are nice otherwise.

I recently went shooting at the Cheyenne Mountain Shooting Complex and had a great experience. The check-in process was quick. First time shooters have to read a waiver of liability and purchase a target stand which becomes yours to keep for future visits. Everything was very fairly priced, although I did bring my own ammunition and targets there were options there to purchase. I fired my rifle at range 3 and found the RSOs to be pleasant and helpful, they even gave some advice on sight adjustments which helped me get dialed in on the 300m steel target. They gave clear instructions and weren't pushy or rude. I've been shooting for over 25 years and I know some of the other comments mentioned the RSOs being "Fudds" but I found this range to be no different than any other range I've been to where safety is paramount, and if you follow the RSOs clear instructions you will have a great time. I'll definitely be returning in the future.

Still relatively new to shooting and firearms. Came here and was properly informed of the rules and safety regulations. Rso was friendly and informative. Was able to purchase targets and ammo. Definitely recommend for new/beginner shooters.

Shot a few rounds there today. Even as a tourist (also beginner) you can rent a gun and shoot there (so no membership needed). Everyone was very kind, especially Kara - thanks Kara 🤠 Gun safety has prio #1 I am not familiar about prices of guns and ammo in the US, but I guess the prices are fair.

Amazing facility, and absoluteky wonderful staff!!! My 14 yr old son had his first experience shooting clays last weekend and he had the time of his life! It was a struggle for his first dozen shots, but then hit his first, then another until he started hitting more than missing. What a smile on that kid! The range personnel were so kind and helpful to us novices who will be back tomorrow--and probably every weekend!!!

Facility is clean and orderly and the Range Safety staff are courteous and informative and firm when directing the firing line. I appreciate their assistance and knowledge, from the reception area to the range staff. I had to re-zero a rifle for use here in Colorado on December 9th, 2022. After achieving my 200 yard zero, I harvested the biggest buck (5x6) of my life the following day. I don't believe I would have made the shot without the help of Cheyenne Mountain Shooting Complex Staff.

Nice outdoor range, a little pricy upfront as you must purchase a target frame but the frames are smartly constructed for your targets

Great facility!!! The range officers are fantastic and very safety conscious. The staff and volunteers on the range speak very loudly because shooters have ear protection on and canΓÇÖt hear them unless they yell. I appreciate the staff because they are friendly and keep the range safe.
