Questions & Answers

Q: Does the gun you bring have to be registered?

A: No. It is not illegal in California to own unregistered fire arms. Just make sure itΓÇÖs a California legal gun. No banana clips, no full auto.

- JonEnowhere (4 years ago)

Q: Do you allow plinker plates, or is it paper targets only?

A: Paper only

- Dylan Ketchem (6 years ago)

Q: Can I bring my 12ga out? First time going here!

A: Yes, just remember to be safe.

- ThrawnCCB (4 years ago)

Q: Is this a skeet shooting range and do you have traps? Or do we need to bring our own trap?

A: The skeet area is no lead. They also require a certain size shot. I believe 7 1/2, but may be wrong. The Walmart in Rohnert Park often runs low as everyone buys that size for Circle S.

- jared burk (5 years ago)

A: You need to bring your own and a way to throw them.... But there is a skeet range there

- RedMamba The original (7 years ago)

A: Steel shot only

- David Mellor (2 years ago)

A: You do need your own thrower. Yes it is a range as well

- Michael Abegglen (7 years ago)

Q: Is Steel cased ammo allowed?

A: Yes.

- Duncan Alexander (a year ago)

Q: I would like to start shooting..but need help. Do you have teachers available?

A: Darlene, I just saw your post of 3mo. ago; and saw no response. I am planning to go to Circle S in the near future and would be happy to walk you through safe handling and range procedures if you would care to. Do you have a firearm to use? I can provide one if not. ΓÇö Dennis

- Dennis Quigley (10 months ago)

Q: Are you open to shoot even if its raining.

A: Yes. 10 spots are covered. The pistol range is not covered.

- RedMamba The original (6 years ago)

Q: Does this range rent firearm out for range usage or is it being your own firearm

A: No rentals, bring your own

- David Cormany (7 years ago)

A: Cool kidz only bro, sorry I'm sure you're pretty rad but you need to pay the cool kids fee and the 10 day wait period and you get your membership and firearm

- Cody Whitney (5 years ago)

Q: Is membership required? Thanks,John

A: Nope

- David Cormany (7 years ago)

A: No membership required just a $15.00 fee for each day of shooting

- ally marie (7 years ago)

A: Nope, but they are $15 cash only

- Jeremy Rosenblum (7 years ago)

Q: Are there target stands at the 300 yard line?

A: Yes, there are stands at 20 yards, 50, 100, 200, and 300 yards.

I have been a customer here since 2008. In a word its funky. It's partly the place and partly the ownership. I can agree with some that give it 5 stars and also with some that give it just 1. I do think whoever the presiding rangemaster is,Safety is well demonstrated and adhered to. If you do anything out of line you will hear about it. If you can't take that you shouldn't be there. My criticisms would be too long of periods when the line is hot/need more cycles per hour and the place is a swamp. Rubber boots mandatory until late June (not changing anytime soon). Bring your own everything. It's Cow Mtn south but a good time. Some of the best shots in CA shoot there. Great place to learn a thing or two

Only option around. What are you going to do. Website is from the 90s, not open all week, they don't update hours for closures, and it's muddy most of the year. But if you get there and it's open, it's a fun place to shoot if you know your stuff.

Nice range, terrible management. The RSOs hate everyone and everything, and just look like they're fed up with you no matter what. Trying to pay? You're bothering them. Asking for a target? Bothering them. The "one shot every two seconds" rule is ridiculous. It completely obliterates the possibility of accomplishing any meaningful training. So far, I've been yelled at for "rapid firing" a lever action .22, a pump action shotgun, and a bolt action 30-06, and my semi autos. The only reason this range is around is because it's the only one, and there are no better options. Honestly, if they got rid of the "no rapid fire" rule, I'd change my review to at least four, maybe five stars.

There are lots of nicer places to shoot in the Bay Area, none that have 200 & 300 yard targets. Set your expectations low, and then lower them again, and then go and shoot at 300 yard targets. If you have hearing protection in your ears, you might not know when the cease fire happens. Or when it is time to resume shooting. Bring everything that you will need with you. Everything. Nothing is provided here. Want to shoot on a rest or sand bags? Bring some with you. Bring a blanket or piece of carpet with you unless you are okay with setting your guns down on dirty gritty splintered bench tops. The shooting stations are old, uncomfortable, not well suited actually seeing your targets unless your head is literally ON the bench.

Great space, not for novices. Range master is a gruff, funny, no nonsense dude. You're left to your own devices so don't expect anything more than a target and a staple gun The closest lane is 25yards so smaller caliber hand guns would have trouble. But the rifle and larger caliber lanes look like a lot of fun. And seriously $20 for a whole day is an absolute bargain!

Everyone exercises safety. They have targets if you forgot your own for a small fee. ThereΓÇÖs areas for all guns. 25,10,20, and 300 yard targets. Tables arenΓÇÖt the greatest for the rifles but get the job done.

The person in charge is not polite at all, you ask questions he just looks at you like you owe him something.

Great Place Considering The Area. Bought my first rifle today and noticed this was the only range on the area and got scared by some of the reviews but It was honestly pretty fun. The short range benches got taken up so I had to shoot on the 100 yd targets but eventually space opened up and I got to shoot on the 50 and 25 yard targets so I got to zero my sights in a little bit more. This range definitely caters more towards rifles so if you have a handgun just hope there is a spot open. Cease fire every 20 ish minutes to put up targets, but make sure you bring boots as the walk up can get muddy. The rules are reasonable and the price is very fair considering you could be there all day for only 20$. Bring all your equipment and ammo as there wasnΓÇÖt a store and be comfortable with your firearm before going as it doesnΓÇÖt look like they offer training. ItΓÇÖs nice knowing there is a range close by if you want to shoot for a couple of hours rather than driving all the way up to cow mountain. CanΓÇÖt wait to go back!

Short-tempered range master. No rapid fire. Wood target stands barely standing. Pistol range at 25 yards (can't see hits without Bino's). Rifle Range is bench rest shooting only (no standing or prone allowed). Steel ammo for trap shooting (I didn't see anyone shooting clays). No pathway to targets (wear boots). The only thing for sale is targets. Bring your own staple gun, ammo, snacks and water. And chair for bench rest shooting (the log stools are wet and unstable). Single porta-potty, no hand wash. Never answers the phone. Very rural secluded location. Very windy. But it's the only range in the county and they act like it.

ItΓÇÖs alright I guess if you really donΓÇÖt have anywhere else to go but they could do WAY better. Looks like the guy taking the money from shooters is pretty much all he likes to do.

The guy who runs the range It's very rude, would not recommend going there. Unless you like to be talked to like you're a dog.

Overall great shooting range but you can only shoot one shot every four seconds??? So if your into quick accurate bursts itΓÇÖs not the place for you. Only snipers :/

It's a decent range, very low key. I wish they had more pistol placements as it was nearly full when I got there and there started to be a queue. Target backings could use a refresh. During a cease fire I really wanted to screw a new particle board back to the target (probably a 2 minute job) because there was nothing much to staple your targets to. Speaking of: bring a staple gun because tape doesn't cut it on the windy range. While the visitors were all friendly, the range staff wasn't particularly. They had their friends they would chat with (some regulars) but didn't really seem to want to chat. Unless you were a woman. Fairly diverse crowd there which was nice to see. I didn't time the cease fires but it felt like it was called every 20mins or so. A spotting scope is nice in that regard if you want to see where your shots went.

Definitely the best range in the Bay Area, which isnΓÇÖt saying much. They have 100, 200, and 300 yard targets for each lane(which is nice), 3 second rule kinda sucks, but thatΓÇÖs every range out here unfortunately. Have to bring all your own equipment and amenities, aside from the portapotty, 20 dollars per head, staff can rub some people the wrong way, but IΓÇÖve not had an issue. Benches are shaded. Overall, a good time. Be aware that I have gotten a tick every time IΓÇÖve been there, so just check yourself after.

This place is perfect for me I much prefer outdoor ranges this place is down and dirty and it's just fine for me. They are strict about safety which they should be I like it here. It's a big 20 bucks if you can handle it bring your own targets because the ones they have for free are made of recycled toilet paper.

Great local outdoor range. Good for long guns. Pistol range requires a good target and stand. $20 cash and a fun time!
