One of the best classes IΓÇÖve ever attended. If you go in there with OK aim they can make you elite. Their knowledge and experience exceeds all others. Their classes surpassed all my expectations.

I attended the AP2 pistol class this past weekend. I'm a fairly competent handgun shooter and the AP2 class exposed me to numerous ideas, manipulations, and processes that I'd never dreamed of before. Even the basics are done in a way that pushes your skills and mind for improvement. I'm looking forward to the release of next year's training schedule to a polish up on my rifle skills and probably take AP2 again.

Recently took AP1 for the third time, as a repeat student, the curriculum is ever changing and adapting as techniques and technology change. IΓÇÖve taken several classes at DSA, and the Cadre is incredible; patient, understanding of differing skill levels, and above all keen on maintaining a safe and fun environment. With this being my third lap with AP1, I had different goals coming into this than other students, but the pace of the class was fast enough to keep the more experienced shooters engaged, while being conducive for newer shooters to learn the fundamentals. The best to the basics better, and DSA does the basics the best. The dedication, compassion, and care they put into each student is incredible. If youΓÇÖre looking for a safe, fun environment to take your shooting skills to the next level, look no further.

As a retired police officer of almost thirty years, I have had LOTS of firearms practice, but little actual training after our police academy. My son, as a new shooter, hadn't had any formal training prior to DSA's Advanced Combat Pistol I class (Oct 26-27, 2024). Their focus on fundamentals, including stance, grip, and trigger control, tightened up my groups quite a bit, and gave my son a good grasp of the basics, as well. The classes aren't cheap, but they're well worth the cost, and I'll be back for more.

I'm a Army veteran that was trained on an M-16, but never received training on a pistol. I have not had any other training until I spent the weekend of 10/26-27/2024 taking Marshall LutonΓÇÖs Advanced Combat Pistol 1 course, MarshallΓÇÖs training took me to a level I didnΓÇÖt know existed in myself. Marshall and Jeremy Snow did an excellent job of training a group of 13 men. IΓÇÖm looking forward to attending another class in the spring of 2025 as my skills still need honing to become the best that I can be. 5 stars just does not seem to be enough for Marshall's Defensive Shooting Academy, I'd give it 10 stars if they were available.

I took the Combat Carbine course this past weekend. It is a fantastic course. Marshall and Billy are top notch instructors. I would recommend this course for anyone wanting to learn how to run an AR-15 platform carbine.

My husband and I took a private class from DSA and we learned a tremendous amount. Marshall is extremely knowledgeable with all things guns related. He was patient with us and he adapted to our knowledge and skill level. By the end of the day, we had a lot more confidence in handling our gun, and we are very grateful for the experience! Definitely worth the time, money and effort! Thank you, Marshall!

If you want top of the line firearms training, this is the place to do it. I only ever take classes from DSA so I may be biased, but for the right reasons. You can tell that Marshal has genuine care and love for his students. I will be taking more classes in the near future and urging my friends and family to do the same.

Marshall and all the staff were awesome! They were very attentive to all the ladies that showed and were very fun, funny and engaging. You could tell they had deep respect for each other and were a team. I felt there was no stupid question. I will definitely sign up for more instruction to keep my skills and confidence progressing. Great job to all of you! I don’t remember all names but Marshall, Kai, James, Charles and Maggie I remember …but there were many others that helped and were so informative!

My third course with DSA and my second time in the Advanced Combat Pistol course. How highly do I recommend it? Well, the second time thru I brought my kids, brother and a friend. Seven of us in total. And I even paid for some of the tuition costs for my kids. All different skill levels and every single one came out of the course a better shooter. Only the best get that kind of access to my family. If youΓÇÖre on the fence about any course from DSA, stop thinking about it and literally pull the trigger!

I learned so much going through this. And I also learned that I need to do more practice and training. Marshall's way of teaching and training was spot on. I highly recommend this course and I plan on going through the next one.

I had the pleasure of attending Advanced Combat Pistol Level 1 on September 21st in Bennet Nebraska taught by Marshall Luton. Class started with a prayer (which I really appreciate) and a thorough safety brief. The safety protocols were enforced throughout the class and Marshall did a fantastic job of catching any infractions or potential infractions before they happened. I have personally taken over 300 hours of professional handgun training from various instructors most of whom are well known in the firearms industry, and this was by far the best handgun shooting class I have ever attended. If I had to summarize the overall focus of this class, I would have to say that by far the main point of the curriculum is accuracy which in my experience often takes a backseat in pistol training to other things like proper grip, proper stance or even presentation from the holster. In some classes as long as students can keep the majority of their shots inside an FBI Q target at 5 yards the instructors will focus on ensuring that students simply look proper doing it. While I believe stance, grip and presentation are important, and the DSA instructor did a very good job in covering and critiquing those areas as well, they placed a huge emphasis on getting your hits first and then quickly preparing to deliver a subsequent hit. Roughly 85% of the rounds fired in this 2-day class were fired at 3-3.5ΓÇ¥ circles at 5 yards. While Marshall was expecting your rounds to be inside those circles, he also encouraged you to push the speed and drive your gun to find your limitation. If you werenΓÇÖt using all of that little circle, then you could and should try to do it faster. The step-by-step class progression was absolutely perfect for the new and experienced shooter focusing on one thing at a time and then adding to the primary tasks once the students had a grasp on what was covered in the previous block of instruction. Regardless of your ability level, taking this class will make you a better, and faster shooter. Chaz Macrander Owner/Lead Instructor Concealed Carry Omaha

I have been attending DSA courses for over a decade now and they just keep getting better. Every time I am a part of the ACP I class, I learn something new and get a chance to refine my fundamentals under the all-seeing eyes of Marshall and his cadre of instructors. The curriculum Marshall has developed brings something special to the training. The methods of instruction make the information easy to retain and provide a basis for continuing training long after the class is complete. This continues to be my go-to place for pistol instruction. These classes are worth the investment of both time and money and you will learn skills that might just save your life.

I had a blast at Marshall 16 hour pistol training. Marshall has cracked a code of bringing a fun but serious environment to a shooting class. His best qualities is his discernment. He can recognize what level shooter you are and knows what to help start correcting instantly. DoesnΓÇÖt matter if youΓÇÖre a grandmaster or a beginner, he has a quick assessment and knows how to make you a better shooter no matter what. If youΓÇÖre nervous or a beginner like me, donΓÇÖt worry his jokes will break the ice, and his one on one coaching has a way of showing you how much he cares. Take this class with and open heart, open mind, and open ears, and you will leave with something money canΓÇÖt buy. I canΓÇÖt wait to be in this class again.

Was one of 18 students for a 10 hour training course designed and taught by DSA. IΓÇÖve been carrying a gun for a living for 18 years now. IΓÇÖve been a firearms instructor for 9 years. Of the 18 of us most of us are instructors and/or experienced shooters. Marshall and Billy taught us a ton in the time we had allotted them. Good quality, professional instruction is always worth it. Find some money somewhere and see what itΓÇÖs about! This was my second time training with DSA and I will be planning a third time soon. If you think youΓÇÖre ΓÇ£good enoughΓÇ¥ you are wrong, get humble and get professional instruction and get better. Your life, the lives of those you swore to protect, and the lives of your teammates are worth it.

I can't say enough good things about Marshall and his instructors but, it's worth every penny! I highly recommend you get some training if you are going to carry for self defense. You will learn how to shoot properly, efficiently and accurately. I have shot rifles and pistols for years and went to this class with an open mind knowing I had bad habits or incorrect form. They quickly diagnosed and corrected my bad habits, they instructed the class on proper form and technique and got everyone to show improvement on technique and accuracy. Thank you DSA I will definitely be attending more classes to improve my skills.

I recently took the AR-15 Level I training at DSA and I must say it was an experience that I will look back on as a checkpoint in life, one which moved me a bit closer towards becoming a more capable individual. Marshall and Garrett possess the dispositions that made the course an enjoyable and open learning environment for all levels of previous knowledge, while simultaneously bringing a seriousness towards our education and training that forced you to realize the weight of your actions when handling a firearm. They were a deep well of knowledge and experience that allowed me to trust their direction. I cannot imagine learning under different instructors. They have set the gold standard. Though it was only a 16-hour course it felt like brotherhood when I was leaving.

My 14 year old son and I had the pleasure of spending two days recently with Marshall and Garrett while they taught the AR-15 Level 1 course to a group of about 10 students. I had trained with DSA a couple of times before, but this was the first opportunity to bring my oldest son along. We had a blast learning about our new rifles, (thank you for building them for us Garret Grover) and getting the chance to really practice the fundamentals of safely handling the rifle. We will definitely be back for more training. I cannot recommend this class enough.

I believe that 5 star reviews are life altering experiences not just something to give out just because a service or product was good or met expectations (that should be 3-4 stars). But every one of my courses with Marshall, his cadre and DSA has been a 5 star experience hands down. The level of training is typically only accessible to professionals or competitors so as a civilian anyone is lucky to be able to get access to this level of training and skills. The courses are fun and a great time but hard work and draining as well because you are learning alot in a short time and applying it as you go day by day. Marshall is one of the best coaches or trainers I have every met. It's one thing for a coach to be a great tactician themself. It's another thing if they are a great tactician and also a great teacher (organized, prepared, clear about instruction, feedback driven, easy to understand, approachable, articulate, etc.). I've driven 500 miles round trip & every time I've gone it's been worth it without pause or question. Whether you are only wanting to learn or hone new or existing skills and fundementals (which for civilians can be hard to find from family or friends), whether you want to really up your game, whether you are a professional that your day to day job or life depend on this training every time you go to work, you won't be disappointed and you will be coming back time and time again because it's an eye opener and game changer! Every course I've been to has had professionals in it and it shows that I'm getting the chance to get the highest level of training from the same people they trust and go to for their coaching. As well as most of those professionals will attend the same course multiple times over the years which shows how impactful and helpful it is to get repetition and keep honing the skills and absorbing more knowledge each time with out it seeming boring or redundant to do so.

Absolutely the best instructors with exceptional experience, knowledge and patience to teach all ranges of skill from newbie to professional. I've take 3 classes with DSA and each one surpassed all of my expectations!! The range of topics covered in detail and the experience on the line provide great takeaways that are immediately applicable outside of the class. Thank you DSA and instructors for holding a high standard for yourselves, your classes and your students!

Took the AR15 Level 1 class in June 2024 with Marshall and Garrett, the team was awesome. I'm a citizen who believes in 2A, and wants to be the best gun owner I can be. I actively go the range several times a year (approx once a month). Still learned a bunch from the DSA team, the two are wealth of knowledge, who are very open to share. Light hearted, goofy at the right times, made everyone feel comfortable while being serious when it came time. Always felt safe shooting with wide range of fellow students. We had newbies who had never fired a rifle and well experienced people who served/are active. I believe everyone was able to walk away with some new knowledge. NOT all classes are built the same. I can say I felt it was worth the knowledge and experience. Thanks to the DSA team!

If you aren't spending at least 4X the money on training that you spend on your firearms then you are doing your family and yourself a huge disservice. I thought I knew how to shoot and run a gun as I grew up around them since I was a young boy on the farm. But getting professional instruction from TDSA was by far a greater value than all of the firearms I have bought over the years.

In good hands! Thats the best way to sum up the instructors at DSA. My kids and I have taken many classes at DSA over the past several years. The instruction is consistent, relevant and applicable to real life. I trust this team to equip me with the techniques to keep my family safe. My daughter and I recently completed ACP level one. This was a repeat course for each of us. I couldn't believe how much we both got out of the class. These are perishable skills!! It was neat to see our progression and confidence build all the way to the final drill. Thanks Marshall and crew for everything you do!

I recently took Advanced Combat Pistol 1, and while I've been shooting a while and have taken several classes with other instructors, Marshall and his team helped me identify and correct several training scars from bad habits, some of which I was unaware I had. Safety was the #1 priority; at no point did I feel unsafe or witness any dangerous behavior from the instructors or the students. The DSA instructors are high quality and well worth the time and money. The class was challenging and after coming out of the two-day class, I feel more confident in my ability to shoot and in my equipment.

I am a retired Psychiatrist who had previously trained at Front Sight in Nevada some 14 years ago. Realizing that my skills had suffered from lack of practice I looked for training closer to home. On the recommendation of a local Gunshop I signed up for the Advanced Combat Pistol Level 1 course with the Defensive Shooting Academy in Tulsa. What a great piece of advice that was! I just completed the above course this past weekend, June 1 and 2, 2024. I was one of the least experienced in the class, but the instructors did a fantastic job of providing the appropriate level of instruction to everyone in the class. Being a beginner, I came away with an improved way to grip my pistol and achieve trigger control that I will be practicing until they become automatic. I will then be able to apply other skills I was taught to further improve my proficiency. I feel like I got great instructions in the basics that will serve as a platform for further growth and improvement. The class was superior to my previous instruction at Front Sight. I felt very safe in a class of people whom I had never met before, and there quickly developed a sense of comradery and ease, which was fostered by the instructors. The material presented was well organized and questions were welcomed and answered clearly. Corrections on the range as we applied the lessons were done in a manner to foster learning and improvement, I never felt negatively criticized or shamed. Overall, I had a great deal of fun and appreciated the humor and anecdotes that the instructors used to illustrate and reinforce the course material. I came away with a newfound enthusiasm for regular practice, and my wife seems to have caught some of my enthusiasm as well, as she is now joining me at the range. I would highly recommend the course and Instructors, and am planning to repeat the course in the near future to continue to sharpen my skills.

These guys are the best. I travel a lot for my job and am always wanting to get better at preparing myself for firearm use if needed. I've been through half a dozen handgun courses at other places, and I learned more stuff that I can use in 2 days from Marshall and Billy than all the others combined. These guys are very safe, fun to learn from, and kept the 2 day Advanced Combat Pistol class interesting. Lots of shooting too. And they practice what they preach - they are master shooters. I'll be signing up for more classes with these guys!

I'm a Marine Corps Veteran, Advanced Combat Pistol Level 1, May 6-7 at the Secure America Now Training Center. Marshall and Billy put on a first-class pistol class. For the beginner to Master- Precise instruction in a safe environment with a twist of fun and a splash of realism. I would recommend to anyone that wants to get started learning or anyone that is a "good" shooter that would like to be great.
