Q: 1000 yd range?

A: Answers are 4 years old. Is this place still in operation? The website seems to be down as well.

- Mr. K.C. (a year ago)

A: Yes they have a 1000 yard range, but not everyone can get on it, you will have to talk to the Range Officers. They're pretty good about answering email as well (off of the website).

A: I have only been to (2) of their ranges for a couple of courses. They have some steel placed at known distances and we used another range for the 1000 yard. Call them for more details.

great range and great matches. expect dirt roads to get there and their not responsible for how graded or nice they are so don 't complain. Great time and great RO's

This is a great place to shoot sporting clays, skeet, and trap. There are two clays courses: the South Course is on a flat ridge top, and the North Course is in an arroyo, so between the two, there are lots of different target presentations. The North Course has tower targets thrown from a ridge top, making for 50 feet high clays to challenge advanced shooters. DNGC offers handgun and rifle target shooting, too, although I have never done this there. DNGC is a membership club, maintained Wednesday mornings by members. Thus, it is closed from Tuesday evenings through noon Wednesdays, but open otherwise. Members may escort nonmembers to shoot with them. DNGC is gated. Safety rules are strictly enforced. It's my favorite NM shooting facility.

Quite chilly this morning, but the E-Targets were working well and the wind and mirage made it sporty at 1000yds.

Great range. Wide variety of options

My biggest gripe is the location: you cross through some treacherous dirt roads to get here! The range itself is nice with ample space for parking and places to shoot.

Great range. It's way out there but the road is decent enough. Facilities here are much better than the other private range. Sporting Clays course is very well done and the Archery range is just perfect for some realistic southwest desert shots.

Nice range. Too much restrictions and real bad road leading to the range.

First off, I am a Life Member of the Del Norte Club. I have been a member, in some capacity, for fourteen years. I enjoy the variety of shooting opportunities and variety of ranges at the club. That is where my appreciation of the club ends! The leadership of the club is anything but what someone would expect! The current president of the club, and the board of directors, fail to grasp the basics of leadership with regards to the club, its' volunteers and members. That is that leadership is not a position, a title or words. It is defined by actions and the example set. Last week, I found myself being harassed by a person I found was a Range Safety Officer (RSO) at Del Norte (volunteer position). He neither was wearing his position of rank nor identified himself when he approached me. I knew who he was from a previous encounter, which I had mistakenly failed to report to Del Norte Leadership. I brought this recent encounter to the attention of the Del Norte President. She knew exactly who I was speaking about, due to a pattern of complaints about this RSO. I told her that I expected action(s) to be taken, and she assured me that action(s) would happen. To the date of this posting, I have not heard a thing. For the record, I'm a retired Marine Corps Officer and current DOD/DOS Contractor. I know what right looks like on a range, and the actions by the RSO and the Del Norte President are anything but! They are in direct contravention to the Del Norte Range Rules and Member Code of Conduct. The RSO at Del Norte is an accident waiting to happen, and the Del Norte President will also be a responsible party when this occurs.

I've been here a few times with friends. This place is by far one of the top shooting clubs in the Rio Rancho/Albuquerque area. I'm going to join as well.
