Questions & Answers

Q: Are steel targets allowed on this range?

A: Well, I've been using one and nobody has said anything...

- noodlenoggin (4 months ago)

Q: Are you open to the public I would like to come shoot

A: Yes but strictly rules only one round is allowed to be loaded and no rapid fire. The shooting club next door that maintains the range will kick you out for breaking the rules.

Q: Is this range open this time of year? And if so what am I allowed to sight in? I have a .30/06 i would like to get to know better and want to make sure its okay

A: Open from 9:00 am to 7:00 pm

A: Yes, all year round as far as I'm aware. No payment or staff. Outside on you own terms. Theres 3 hills at different distances and you'll need to bring your own targets, but most people have some they've left behind.

Q: Is this shooting range still open, during the Covid 19?

A: Yes

You can only load 1 bullet to shoot in a magazine at a time. If you fire multiple rounds, the neighbors will call the police on you.

One round per gun. Enough said.

DNR ruined this place, used to be one of best. Rules make it worthless to go, DNR lady hovers there like wicked witch of West. I bet they want to change it to a DNR training center.

Great place to be able to go and spend time teaching my son about firearm safety. I appreciate Michigan for having these ranges available for public use.

This is a decent place to shoot at for both Rifle and Pistol. People there are always friendly and more than helpful if you have any issues being a new shooter there are plenty of people willing to sacrifice their time to help you out. Every time I have been there I have never witnessed anyone act in an unprofessional or dangerous manner with their weapons and everyone is polite and friendly.

Every time I go I definitely follow the 1 round rule

I have a strict 1 star review policy, regardless of maximum star capacity. Unfortunately, this range lives up to its score in more ways than one.

The range is nice for a free range. No frills, nothing fancy. Just a field with some hills. Usually nobody there especially the dreaded Range Goblins. The one round rule is kinda stupid though.

Only thing wrong with this range is the people that leave it trashed. Will probably get shut down eventually like the 20 mile range. Sad.

Stupid rule for anyone with an M1 garand... but not bad for the rest of us with firearms that are magazine fed. Lol

ItΓÇÖs actually a decent range and it has lots of space. A lot of people litter and donΓÇÖt pick up after themselves. The DNR enforces the rules for sure. They gave me a ticket for rapid fire last time I was there. It came out to $100 dollars. If you just wanna plink some rounds and focus on your fundamentals this should be alright for you. If you want to break in a new firearm this is not the place to do it.

This place is GREAT! IΓÇÖm a United States Navy veteran and I brought a friend whoΓÇÖs from Germany who never shot a gun ever here cause they donΓÇÖt allow citizens to own guns there to come shoot he also is on his way to joining the US Army so this place will definitely see me again

What a joke only 1 round allowed at a time. Sound like Michigan DNR doesn't even know the difference between a clip and/or magazine!

A free and legal range? Yes, please. I will make the half-hour drive (for me) to not pay $50 for a shooting session. Being unsupervised, sure there's brass everywhere and the garbage can is always full, but it's no worse than you'd expect, really. Every time I've been there, other shooters have been decent. Never had an issue with unsafe behavior when resetting targets or whatever. As for the "one round" sign, what I've seen is people using their firearms as they were designed to be used, and avoiding the temptation to mag-dump. Common sense seems to outweigh a sign stapled up by a bureaucrat.

It's a fine place to shoot who cares if you only have to shoot one round at a time. Cry babies 🙄

Good enough for weekend shooting. Please clean up and pick up your trash when you leave.

How ignorant our so called legislators are. One round in gun only. Totally will NEVER go there. What is the point in that. I have never heard of anything like that. If someone showed up to do harm they would not care about that ridiculous order and would unload on all the ignorant people who follow that stupid moronic law. DNR ranges SUCK!
