Doug's Shoot'n Sports
Family-owned indoor shooting range with 12 25-yard lanes, a spectator area & classes.

Q: I have 2 questions, I was wondering with Utah being an open carry state, do you have to have a CFP if you're just going to the range? I don't plan on carrying on my hip at all. Also do you have a CFP today or when is the next class?
A: Not sure on classes but know they have them quite often. All you need to do is pay the range fee sign in and if you need eye protection and ear protection you need to give them your drivers license as collateral. I have my Concealed carry and not once have they asked for it. By the way these guys know there guns and if you have questions they are all very knowledgeable
- Paul Barnhart (5 years ago)
A: If you do not have a CFP you can still open carry as long as the firearm is two actions away from being fired. Our next CFP class will be this Saturday from 8am till 12pm hope to see you there!
- Anthony Fletcher (5 years ago)
A: A CFP is not needed to shoot at the range. You will just need to make sure that you bring the gun in some type of case. Or on your hip exposed, this will ensure you are not breaking any Cfp laws. Classes are usually every two weeks there for the cfp. I would reach out to them for specific data and get your name on the list.

Q: I got one question. Can i use my California id to shoot at your range?
A: Yes, We are happy to use your California ID. We Hope to see you soon. Dave
- Doug's Shoot'n Sports (3 years ago)
Q: What do I need to buy a firearm
A: Franky, Thank you for your question. We will need a Government ID that shows your name, address, date of birth and photo. So a State ID Card, Driver License or Carry Permit. If your ID does not have a correct address, it can be supplemented with another document. You need to be over 18 to purchase rifles and shotguns and 21 for everything else. If you are not a US Citizen, additional requirements apply. Come in and my team and I will take great care of you. We will help you find the right gun and make the process easy. We hope to see you soon. Dave

Q: I read that if background checks take 3+ days then you are legally able to complete the purchase just depends on the policy of the store do you guys wait for a yes or no or is there an amount of days till you just complete the sale?
A: Hello, Federal Law allows a dealer to release a firearm if the background check is not approved in 3 days. However, dealers generally will not take the risk to release a gun prior to the completion and approval of a background check. ATF has a zero tolerance policy, if there is a transfer of a firearm to a prohibited person, the license is immediately revoked. No questions. No appeals. In Utah, it is unlawful for a dealer to transfer a gun without an approved background check regardless of the time it takes to get it done. So, we will always wait for an approved background check prior to the completion of a firearm sale or transfer. Let me know if you have any more questions. Have a great day, Dave

A: Yes you can rent one there.

Q: I'm Australian and will be visiting Utah at the end of the year, are there any legal restrictions that stop us foreigners renting guns at your range?
A: Nicholas, Thank you for your question. There are no restrictions that would prohibit you from renting guns. We will need your passport for identification. When you visit Doug's, we will find you and your friends or family some really cool guns you want to shoot and give you all the instruction you will need to have a safe and enjoyable time. We will look forward to seeing you. Dave

Q: Can you go and get trained to proparly shoot and have control of guns here? If so how old would you have to be?
A: Absolutely! I have a great team that is happy to help you learn to shoot. Stop in anytime and rent a gun. We will give you the instruction you need to have a safe and enjoyable time. We also have a Doug's First Steps Class that will teach you all about the different types of handguns and proper shooting techniques. You need to be 21 to rent handguns. My wife and I took the Doug's guns 101 class so that she could become more familiar with gun safety, how guns work, and get hands on practice with professional supervision. The class was scheduled to be 4 hours long, which should have been more than enough time, but ended up taking 6 (with only one small break after class was already supposed to have finished). The cost was double what is shown on the website and did not include ammo or a voucher to use towards a gun purchase (which still shows as of Feb 2025). I will be frank, if that time was even reasonably filled with good instruction, we could have lived with the other issues, but the instructor had an absolute disregard and disrespect of everyone's time! I can understand a story or two here and there to give a little break from information overload and to keep the lighten the atmosphere, but there was at least 3-3.5 hours of class time that was filled with completely irrelevant stories that had very little or absolutely nothing to do with firearms instruction. Add to this the fact that the 'instruction' was also heavily sales-focused, very opinionated instead of factual, and most information could have been condensed significantly. It felt like we paid money to be targets of sales pitches, propaganda, and boring stories. I also felt bad for the one girl that volunteered to demonstrate for the instruction because he had her standing in front of class for nearly 2 hours awkwardly left standing as the instructor veered from one pointless off-topic story to the next. My wife and I weren't the only people frustrated by the instructor's inability to stay on topic and waste everyone's time. There were many people that left early, were falling asleep, or I could see them rolling their eyes and groaning in annoyance with each new 'story.' As this was an evening class, many people had to work the following morning, and many people had to get a range pass so that they could come back another time to actually practice, and mind you, at the point that the lesson should have finished, they HADN'T EVENT GOTTEN TO PROPER GUN GRIP YET! Then, when getting to actual demonstrations, the instructor ignored one of the three golden rules of firearm safety - never point a real gun, even if unloaded, at anything you wouldn't want to destroy, and absolutely never at yourself or at another person. He taught as if this was optional, literally saying he didn't agree this that rule, and constantly pointed real guns from the store towards/against himself and pointed it near others. There's a reason they make blue guns, and there were blue guns present in the classroom, yet they sat unused for demonstration. Finally, after 5.5 hours and close to midnight, we finally moved to the range, which was a mess of it's own. There was very little supervision, especially at first, because the one staff member was also dealing with rentals for those who weren't able to bring their own. This meant that there were many brand new or inexperienced shooters on the range on their own COMPLETELY UNSUPERVISED and with no prior instruction of what to do and any information on range etiquette, which should NEVER happen with brand new shooters present. Bottom line, if you're looking to take a beginner class, or attend one with a loved one, I absolutely cannot recommend doing so here, especially if you want a safety-focused class with straight-forward information to help you get started.

Went here for the first time and the staff was very friendly and helpful. Went to use the range and love the pricing, it's one of the lower costs out there for 2 people. The target tracks are automatic so no guessing on your yardage.

Bought several guns from DougΓÇÖs and had only one issue, bought an AK that was missing itΓÇÖs cleaning rod (dumb of me not knowing when I bought it) but after going to get ready to field strip it to oil the gun noticed it was missing and had to go back. Dave was great at helping me get a new one and apologized that it was uncommon to sell a new gun with parts missing and was able to get me take care of with another one that fits.

I went and Alex helped me with a 5.7 pistol he was great to work with. I asked him about red dots and we went through all of them and IΓÇÖm waiting on purchasing the sight. I was called later by Alex and the gun I bought has a rebate green dot and he walked me though what to do and when I get bring it back and he will mount it for me. Alex went above and beyond just selling me a gun. Thanks Alex

Can't say enough good things about this place. Had an excellent experience here as someone new to firearms in general. Signed up to take the First Steps course which did wonders in eliminating a lot of jitters and nerves as well as removing a lot of the mystery and stigma that comes with ownership and shooting. After the course, I returned to rent some handguns and rifles for shooting in the indoor range, which is well-maintained. The highlight however, has to be the service. Everyone working here, including the owner Dave, are phenomenal down to earth people that really make interacting incredibly welcoming and friendly. Want to give a special shout out to Christian who helped me and was profoundly professional and informative. He answered all of my questions (even the dumb ones) and made sure I didn't feel rushed or pressured at all, which I value greatly. Great place and great people.

Wonderful experience here tonight with a group of 4, ended up renting a firearm and everything went well. The signing process took under 5 minutes and had no issues with purchasing ammo, the staff were patient enough in teaching us how to safely use everything and we had a couple laughs listening to some stories before we headed into the range. All in all I would recommend, a fun little place if you're looking to do some recreational shooting.

I had an absolutely incredible experience at this gun range! Shooting full auto for the first time was a thrill I'll never forget, and the team made it even better. Special shoutout to Burgess, who was an absolute gemΓÇöfriendly, knowledgeable, and super chatty in the best way possible. He took the time to explain everything clearly, made sure I felt safe and confident, and his enthusiasm was contagious. ItΓÇÖs clear he loves what he does, and it made the whole experience so much more enjoyable. If you're looking for an unforgettable time at a range with top-tier customer service, this is the place to go. IΓÇÖd give it 11/10 if I could. Highly recommended!

Doug really deserves this 5 starts. 5 starts is the limit of this scale system but not the limit of Doug. The owner is very friendly, and he notice that I was a little bit nervous, so he taught me the proper standing position/which arm should I put more pressure on/the best way to hold a gun...literally everything. He believes that this is the necessary knowledge that everyone who goes to his range needs to know, so he thought it for free before letting you go into the range. On that day, we practiced for 4 hours in the range. At the end of the session we asked for two fully auto machine gun, and they were able to do it with the help of a retired SWAT member!! Super cool experience and I am much more confident about going to the range for next time!

We had a great experience at DougΓÇÖs! We rented a booth, a couple of small caliber weapons and 200 rounds for about $50, well worth the price. Burgess was very friendly and helpful with helping us getting things sorted out, and theyΓÇÖve definitely got a customer for the future.
