Questions & Answers

Q: Open for public?

A: What are the steps I need to take to become a member ? Thanks

- Thomas Clement (8 months ago)

Q: I put in application a year ago. Any word on how to know that the line is moving and when I might expect to hear something? I'm afraid I'll miss an email so anxious to find out. Thx.

A: It took me several years to get a notice. I put myself on the list and completely forgot about it and then got the notification one day. We had a members meeting in 2019 where it was decided to increase the cap of total membership so that should speed things up a bit but it's a long wait.

- John Byun (5 years ago)

A: There is a long list. I think it might be a couple of years, maybe longer.

- Gene Alston (5 years ago)

A: According to my friends who are members the current wait list is about two years. O believe they purge and update the rosters at the end of the year. They did up the total number of members good 1,100 to 1,300 I believe and may increase it again.

- Matt Flyer (5 years ago)

Q: Gary, Thanks for the quick response. I have applied for range membership last year and I am on the wait list. I know that the distances are for chickens is 40 meters, pigs are 60 meters, turkeys are 77 meters and rams are 100 meters

A: I have been a member for 12 years and have seen tremendous growth in the facilities and membership. It is a very safe environment because all members know and follow safe shooting practices and the rules.

- Gary Crispens (5 years ago)

A: Once you become a member and see the layout and talk to some senior members they can help you understand some land restraints and time but all in all it's a great range just fallow the rules. Good shooting

- Carl Bradley (5 years ago)

Q: Can smallbore (0.22 caliber std velocity) silhouette metallic targets (chicken, pig, turkey, and ram) be used on any of your ranges?

A: Yes they can, but there is a minimum distance for them the be set up down range. The ranges that allow them has this information posted with the range rules sign at the range.

- Gary Crispens (5 years ago)

Q: Do I need a gun permit to come have fun ? I m trying to bring my dad and my brother ?

A: You need to be a member or a guest of a member.

Nicest range I've ever been a part of... Great clubhouse, courteous members & guests, fantastic facilities. Actively promotes shooting sports for ALL.

The club itself is OK and provides a variety of ranges for different types of shooting. The pistol ranges can have drainage problems which provides good breeding grounds for mosquitoes in the summer. The club used to replace the wooden frames reasonably frequent so you could find a frame to staple your cardboard to, but not so much over the last couple of years or so. Most of the frames have been shot out, and if you needed cardboard, you had to cut your own to fit. Paper targets can be hard to find at times. It used the be the atmosphere of the range was more laid back, and people would discuss what they had brought to shoot and allow others to shoot their firearm. That has changed with the increase in membership. At times certain ranges can be so crowded that people become very possessive of their space. You quickly learn the least popular times and start shooting then. If you join the club, you need to know that DPRC is serious about their unwavering support of the NRA. If you accidentally let your membership lapse, they will cancel your membership to the club almost immediately and then invite you to go to the back of the line an reapply for membership. It seems that the board at DPRC does not care about the NRA mismanaging money, they want to make sure you are on top of giving your fair share that keeps the execs at the NRA living the lifestyle to which they have become accustomed.

You can clearly tell from when I started and finished ! 😅 SigSauer P226 .40cal, 50rnds, 25yds. Definitely need work. But what great fun!!! Great place to shoot. With ten well laid out ranges, there is something for everyone. Private club Get on the waiting list. Go to the website, follow the membership instructions, and wait for the invitation. Takes about two or three years, but it is worth it. The orientation process is well organized with very nice people. They have the benefit of years of experience and know what shooters want, and more importantly, they know what shooters need. I filled out their membership application in September 2016, and they contacted me in April '19 to join. I am very happy to now be a member. Special shout out to Miss Kim, the club secretary. She's one of the nicest, most professional, and helpful people I've ever had the pleasure to meet. Thank you for all that you do and have done to make my membership the best it can be. God Bless.

Great ranges... great facilities. They have a dedicated 22LR range, several pistol only bays and a rifle range out to 300y. All with permanent steel targets! The Club house is air conditioned and has restrooms. Hard to beat. Wait list is long, so get on early!!

"Durham is a nice club, but there are things you should be aware of. From the moment you drive through the entrance to just about anywhere on the ranges, you will be video taped. What they do with the video tape recordings is beyond me..." The cameras insure that if someone leaves something on the ranges it gets returned to its rightful owner. Not that it would not anyway. They also eliminate he said she said incidents.

I have been a member of DPRC since 2011, this is a great community and would recommend to shooting enthusiast of any level. Covered shooting locations, multiple ranges per caliber and distances. Frequent CCW Classes (also available to public), paper targets of multiple sizes provided/stands, members all respect and take care of property as their own. 5/5

Once a year mid July they hold the tarheel championship which is a 2 gun rimfire, sort of unique in different circles. It was a blast. Mind you they do run the rimfire every month this was just the championship that brought in a lot of shooters. Everything was professionally run and their clubhouse is phenomenal. Compared to bigger championships I've shot with steel challenge in other States in past year, this brought more than I expected from this location, with local feel. They do a great job there and everyone was friendly. Pretty much every shooter got to walk the price table and they did a great job with awards-this was the 1st time I was recognized/placed. 😁

Had no idea this place existed, until I attended Sheepdog Response classes here. Great place with 10 different ranges, dynamic options, all well maintained. Membership has a wait list, but they do have instructional programs that are open to the public, (Ladies of Steel, etc).
