Eagle Peak Shooting Range

Q: How much is it and do we need a license or something like that?
A: The present rates are $25 for a lifetime range card and $25 for all-day access. There is no membership; the range card indicates that you have taken the initial safety training (which is a short video). You can shoot as many or types of weapons as you want on as many lanes or types of lanes as you want. You can come and go. Range does not charge by the hour, by the lane, by the weapon, or by the shot (some clay ranges). First time there it costs you $50 and every time thereafter it is only $25. No licenses are required. You will be asked for something so that they can look you up if you ever lose your range card. A replacement range card is only $5. I have seen foreigners without US identification there who are able to rent and fire a weapon, because there is no legal reason that they cannot.
- M I (3 years ago)
A: $30 for your first time and $15 any other time you visit. You get a range card the first time which you'll have to pay for again if lost. You'll need your ID the first time to register but won't need it any other time. I think passports are also acceptable.

Q: Does this range have tactical bays? Can you put up your own targets, some forward some way back.
A: There is an LTC bay for use with an instructor. Pistol lanes are 7, 15, and 25 yards. Rifle lanes are 50, 100, 200, and 300 yards with several combination lanes. Eight shotgun clay throwers. One shotgun box range for checking patterns, rapid fire, or fun. Lanes and targets are lit at night. You can use your own targets but they must be paper or cardboard. No metal downrange. Targets can only be placed on the frames provided at the set distances mentioned.
- M I (3 years ago)
A: No tactical bays. They have one bay where you can shoot 50 and 100yds. You can replace targets every 20 minutes. Very good range people and counter people. All areas are very well maintained. Don't put up with dangerous jerks. I give the pace five stars.
- Tom Sandvig (5 years ago)
A: No it doesn't 100-300 yard rifle , shotgun range and pistol range
- thomas Blackard (5 years ago)
A: I don't remember tactical bays here. There are set distances for rifle and handgun.
- John Beebe (5 years ago)
Q: What are the hours on Sunday's?
A: Not sure what people were expecting, Eagle Peak is a great range that has no frills just shooting. If you want some pretentious frapachino gluten free pompous range full of wanna be commandis and operators doing fancy gun drills join the military if you want a great range to hone your shooting and dial in your sights with a employees that know their stuff come to Eagle Peak.

Q: How long is the rifle range
A: 50, 100,200, and 300 yards
- Chris K (9 months ago)
Q: Can you shoot green tip 5.556? And what are thr range fees? Also can you do pistol and rifle in the same one?
A: No green tip, fmj....the actual owners can't even respond correctly to their own rules. What a joke.
- Cory Larson (a year ago)
A: Yes and yes. Go to web or. All them for info
- Eagle Peak Shooting Range (2 years ago)
Q: Can I use your weapons in spite of being foreign? Thanks
A: Yes.
- M I (3 years ago)
Q: Been a while since I've been here, do they allow black powder?
A: Yes.
- M I (3 years ago)
Q: Do they allow rapid fire, binary trigger etc..
A: One second between shots on the pistol and rifle lanes due to a ruling by a Travis County judge who does not believe that one can control a weapon if shooting any faster.
- M I (3 years ago)
Q: Are there instructors on site for me and my wife?
A: No. The Range Safety Officer can answer questions and help if you have problems, but they do not instruct. Folks just arrange with their own instructors and meet them at the range.
- Max Ironpaw (3 years ago)
Q: Williamson County Marine Corps League Detachment 1022 would like to use your pistol and rifle range for our competition shooting once a month from March-Oct. 5 to 10 shooters. Pistol 25 yrds, Rife 100 yrds Would this be possible? SF TC Moyer
A: Did you call the range to ask?

$50 to get yelled at for shooting fast into a burm and no fmj 5.56 makes zero sense. The burm is going to be shot either fast or slow. IΓÇÖll take my guns back to az where thereΓÇÖs no BS to deal with. This range loves the liberal agenda.

First time I went to this range was last year. Pretty good experience, it was a Wednesday, slow day. Had a nephew with me. I am 54, prior military, prior LEO and grew up shooting on cattle ranch since I was 5. About 20 minutes later, the other people were done, and RO stated he would not stop every 20 minutes due to us being the only ones. Cool. Shot 5.56 w/FMJ's. No problem. He walked past us several times as we shot. Onto my second visit with my wife about 2.5 months ago. Assigned my pistol range lanes for spouse and I. Front desk gentleman stated when we were ready to go to rifle range, come in and let him know. We finished shooting pistols after about 45 minutes. Range was cold. RO stated of we wanted to go to rifle range, go inside, let front desk know, and we could gather firearms and wait behind red line, just like when you enter range when hot. Remember, he checked our firearms as he did with the others, range is cold. Came back, grabbed safe firearms, all unloaded and in cases, and walked down to assigned rifle lanes, BEHIND RED LINE, and laid cases down and was just about to take a seat. This RO decides to jump my shit in front of everyone, and berate me, and asked what I was doing by moving down to rifle land with firearms. I started to respond by repeating what he told me, in front of my spouse, about moving down to rifle lane after assignment and I was behind red line after he inspected our pistols, which again, were all in cases secure. He continued to yell and stated I was not allowed to move down firing range until range was hot. What? Range was COLD and I was doing what he originally requested. He than berated me stating rules and safety. Then after setting targets, range went hot. I started shooting (AR15) AND on my during my second mag, approached me and stated "I need to inspect you ammo". I cleared and gave him a round. Proceeded to stated no FMJ's at this range. What? I stated, being respectful, in ALL OF MY years of shooting at ranges, indoor, and outdoor, I have never seen no FMJ rule. I asked what am I supposed to shoot with AR 5.56? After going into lawyers and reasons why, due to dirt going down to limestone, and the possibility of fragments coming back at shooters, AND, possible fragments ricocheting due to homes being within a mile, that their "lawyers" stated it would not be allowed. WTF? I have NEVER in my life seen or had a 5.56. or any other round ricochet back on an outdoor range, ranch, desert, or anywhere and hit me, much less a house 1 mile away. I stated stated all my time in military, police, and shooting since 5 (now 54) this has never occurred in my presence nor anyone else I know. He then began to be real nice to me (probably realizing how much of an ass he was before) and started talking about safety, complaints for new neighborhoods since they have been built etc etc. Then stated I can continue to shoot if I purchased their HOLLOW POINTS. WTF does range time with HOLLOW POINTS? (Unless you are sighting in new hunting rounds etc). I stated no thanks, and we left. The condescending attitude and the outburst was very unprofessional, uncalled for and not only that, I did what he told me to do. Never going back, ever. Went to Austin gun club with a friend, and shared my experience with several people, and they ALL stated, been there once, will never go back. Find another range. Austin gun club was awesome, and, you can shoot FMJ's ALL DAY LONG. Same terrain.

We hadn't been to this range in a couple of years, so we were excited to return to the 100-yard lanes on Sunday. We had a great time, and I felt very safe. Reading some recent reviews, I can see that many complaints come from people who simply donΓÇÖt follow the rules and donΓÇÖt take the safety requirements seriously. HereΓÇÖs an example: While I was there, a group showed up just after a ceasefire was released, meaning they had to wait until the next one in 20 minutes. During a ceasefire, you use this time to set up your station. Once the next ceasefire is called, everyone unloads and secures their weapons, the range master checks for safety, and then people are allowed to walk downrange to switch out targets. Anyone who stays back has to remain behind the yellow line for safety. However, one of the guys in this new group ignored these rulesΓÇöwhile others were downrange, he crossed the yellow line and picked up his rifle. The range master saw this and immediately yelled over the PA for him to get back. Some might think the range masters are strict, but they're there to protect everyone. The range is not a place for socializing or bending rules. ItΓÇÖs a serious, controlled environment, and following the rules is crucial for everyoneΓÇÖs safety. In my opinion, the range masters donΓÇÖt owe anyone extra politenessΓÇöyour life is more important than someoneΓÇÖs hurt feelings. This range is a fantastic place to practice, as long as everyone respects the rules.

I typically don’t feel compelled to leave reviews, but the way the staff treated my friends and I was absolutely appalling. We came in and were immediately met with the nastiest attitude from shop owner. He talked down to us like we were children, and at one point he even scoffed at one of my friends about whether she had “completed elementary school”. The prices for admission and ammo were pretty insane, and the shop owner made it seem like checking us out was an inconvenience to him altogether. Now, after the completely sour experience in the shop, we began walking towards to lanes with our UNLOADED & BOXED firearms & one unloaded rental and was immediately screamed at by a man outside (Dan?) like we were about to shoot up the place. He made us walk back to the shop porch, place our weapons down, leave all of our bags, and step away from them while he went to inspect them. It wasn’t until I began to audibly complain about how horribly rude and disrespectful that the staff were towards us that Dan & the shop man began to slightly change their tone. The icing on the cake was the fact that they told us that they would “allow” us to stay until 6pm to shoot, as if they were doing a favor for us.. which absolutely made no sense to me considering they… close at 6? If you close the lanes before that time it should be stated that all shooting ends at 5:45 instead. Three of the members of my group were experienced shooters while me and another were very new, and I can’t stress enough to stay away from this range ESPECIALLY if you are a beginner looking to learn. Regardless if you are or not though, you will be treated like a complete child, yelled at, and insulted. TAKE YOUR MONEY ELSEWHERE!

Great range for outdoor shooting. We shot paper targets with pistols and rifles, then clays with the shotguns.

The range officers have an atrocious attitude. The staff is condescending and acts like they have no interest in your business. Most gun guys are very cool. ItΓÇÖs interesting they act like anti 2A liberals but operate a firing range. Not to mention the guy didnΓÇÖt even know the rules and kept mixing the verbiage up just to be right. DO NOT GO HERE. They donΓÇÖt deserve your business.

It’s a shame how you get treated at this Range. My family comes out from as far as San Antonio for my father in laws birthday only for Ron and Richard to leave us with the worst range experiences I’ve ever had. Just like Bidden it’s time for those two to retire or be somewhere not around the customers. Rude…Disrespectful… just to name a few of the attributes they displayed to me and my family.. Unless I see some accountability from this posting we definitely won’t be back. The right thing to do is show me y’all care. How about an apology and maybe even a refund for my terrible experience?

This is my kind of range. Rustic. Has character. Outdoors and large so you never feel cramped. Lots of pistol and rifle lanes as well as shotgun area with trap shooting and "the box range" where you can run some 00 Buck or slugs. If you want a flashy, slick, anodyne, antiseptic range, this is not for you. Never had an issue with the RSOs - always friendly but no nonsense - that's what you want in an RSO. Pay attention and follow the rules and you'll be just fine.

I do feel safe at this range, however the staff are horribly disrespectful and I felt like leaving before I even hit the range. I didnΓÇÖt feel welcome, I didnΓÇÖt feel appreciated, it felt like a bunch of power hungry old heads that just want to tell you what to do. Yes I understand they need to enforce safety, it feels like much more than that, I can handle them MANUALLY CHECKING EVERY SINGLE FIRE ARM, after every cease fire.. but I cannot handle the anger and the belittling demeanor. 0/10 will never go to this range ever again.

Was looking to find a place for long distance shooting. This place was close by, so we went. Did not read any of the reviews, but I should have. Every negative comment is absolutely true word for words. As soon as we walked in, we were talked down to. The tone of voice was grizzled, unprofessional and rude. We watched the safety video which was about as dry as sandpaper, then paid our exorbitant entry fee. The only positive thing I can say about this place is that it's nice to be able to take your time when shooting. The fee is good all day long. Now, I am not a novice shooter, or gun owner. Just by looking at the clothing we were wearing and the gear that we were carrying could have told anyone that. Yet the way we were talked to by ANY member of the staff made me feel like they thought it was our first day to ever touch a firearm. We walked out of the reception building to a cold range. We proceeded to the yellow line behind our lane assignments. I heard the RO yelling "HEY! HEY YOU!" I did not think it was toward me, as I JUST got there and haven't even put our gear down yet. But, it was directed toward me. He yelled at us because we were carrying our CASED and BAGGED and even UNLOADED gear during a cease fire. Now, that wasn't in the video. He made us walk back the ten or so feet to the building where we had to put our gear on the ground and step away from it. Even with their poor demeanor, I was respectful and calm. This did not seem to make a difference as I was instructed to use the golf cart to retrieve my target during cease fires. The instruction was given to me as if I was a seven year old in trouble and repeated even more harshly. The golf cart... a mechanical wonder in it's own right, had a flat tire, and no matter how gently you tried to start moving would jerk you forward like the General Lee over a bridge. THAT made me feel as if I was doing something wrong... but no. Here's the kicker, of which is why I will NEVER return to Eagle Peak... period. During the next cease fire period, the RO walked to each bay and physically picked up our rifles and worked the actions, as well as inspect the magazines and ammunition without our permission. This is a class action HELL NO for me. And again, I watched this happen, complained silently to my shooting partner, threw a few more rounds down range and called it quits... permanently. So, if you are looking to be treated like a child who has never done anything right, you will fit right in here. Otherwise, go to Copperhead or literally anywhere else.

Love going to this place to practice. The staff is always nice and they remember us and joke with us all the time. They have minimal rentals, so it's best if you go with your own firearm(s).

First off, this was Not my first or second choice for outdoor range. I wanted to shoot outside of Burnet, but they were closed due to a festival. When I was researching this place, at first I was excited to check it out. At the end of my visit, definitely not worth $25 a day. My next visit to the area, me and my cousin are most likely going halves on a year membership to pay hourly someplace else. No rifle FMJs really?!?!? Luckily I shoot handload match rounds, cousin, not so lucky. First range I have ever been to that restricts this... usually steel core (because of provided steel targets down range) or tracers (because of dry environments) are the usual restrictions or large magnum caliber, 416, or 50 restrictions. fyi, even poly tipped, bthp, soft points, etc ricochet, ask me how I know, anyone that actually shoots knows. Even shooting competitions allow FMJs for rifle, I've used them for run-n-gun comps, just no steel core. Do they think FMJ = Steel core??? I dont know, I've read some funny reviews on Midway USA $50 for first time??? and $25 after that??? Where's the perks? shoot all day? meh. I pay $60 once a year at my local range and no daily fee and I go at least 3 times a week(or someone can pay about $10 a day for non-pass holders), this place makes my range look like it's for the rich and famous. For the price gouge, you think they might hire some proper contractors to build proper berms if they are so worried about ricochets. Quick shoot, once or twice a month, sure ok... but save your money and get a proper membership at a better facility. The facility is minimal compared to places I've been to. Only a back berm and no actual engineered side protection berms (layout usually seen on 500+ yard ranges not mere 300 yards) This is most likely a privately own range on a budget, no county or city assistance. Their shooting bays replicate indoor pistol bays. I'm a slender but a fit guy and I still felt cramped with my rifle. Stools are low and the benches are high. one plus, they provide you some pretty good bags at each bay. If you are ok with the "ROs" touching and inspecting your stuff during cease fire inspection without your permission, you'll be fine, well, I was not. My blood instantly boiled, because you wear a red shirt does not mean you can mess with my gear... even county official badged ROs at my range ask permission or request I correct something. I was standing right there, simply ask me and I will fix my mistake. I don't know you, don't touch my stuff. Cousin and I left shortly after that, we were done with their procedures. If you are use to the rules and procedures I guess its ok of a place, it's only 300 yards, but what I'm use to, this place is run extremely low budget, at high cost. Next time I drive 10 hours to shoot with my family, we are going to do it right and spend the extra money, if we are shooting custom rifles, we are going to a proper long range facility. $280yearly (Retire first responder/retired military family) at $7.50hr don't sound that bad now. If you (the consumer) made it this far on my rant (which i usually don't rant, that's how much of an impact this place had on me), after looking through some of the other low stars, the owner or someone will most likely come on and bash back and call me an idiot or someone that's unsafe... so, just in case, Last comment: This is an honest review and calling someone an idiot is unprofessional and not how to run a business and attitude like that does not deserve patrons at all.

Is range has ridiculous rules. Rules that make sense in an indoor range, but it's not. The fees are also ridiculous. Me and my group left as soon as we talked to range personnel. If you would like to go to a good range there's one about half an hour away.
