Echo Point Shooting Range

Q: Why is the range now closed Monday through Thursday? I drove down today from my home in Grand Rapids only to see locked gates.
A: Good question. What takes 4 days every week to maintain?
- Tony (2 years ago)
A: Just more Government making it harder to practice our God given 2A rights.
- Kiel Katz (2 years ago)
A: This just recently happened. Very stupid if you ask me.

Q: Why is this Range closed on Mon Tues Wed when it is getting close to Fall / hunting season to sight in guns? Ridiculous for tax payers not be able to take advantage of these sites. It causes for major congestion toward end of week & weekends.
A: Locals complain about the range everytime it's used . CO told me it will likely close.

Q: Closed on week days?? So IΓÇÖm forced to go to a packed range. it completely defeats the purpose of why I always came here. Deeply saddened by this I hope they change it soon
A: Join the club. Packed range = unsafe range. Too many people milling about. Hard to tell who called "ceasefire " and who's paying attention.

Q: Are you open 2-25-2022
A: Yes.
- Echo Point Shooting Range (3 years ago)
Q: What are the range distances. On the DNR website I see 25, 50, 100 yard ranges. Accessible ranges list 10, 25, 100 yards but nothing for 50 yards?
A: We do not have a 50 yard range. We can check the website to ensure it is accurate. Thank you!

Q: Why do clowns leave the range a mess then complain when they gotta close the range to maintain it?

Good free range. It's what you expect to have at an outdoor range. Just wish the pistol booths were up and running again.

This range does weird stuff like it closes down its handgun lanes. For whatever reason. Punks go there that like to shoot the wood that's used to create the booths. If you catch this just turn their license plate over to MSP or DNR. They're actually taking money right out of our pockets when they do this take their picture if you can safely while they're in the act. Most people there a very cool it's sad to see this. I had a guy help me sight in my new AR-15 then he gave me some ammo when I ran out. I won't forget that dude.

Great place to put holes in paper. Thanks DNR for providing a free place to shoot. Just wish everyone that uses the range would behave responsibly by cleaning up their own mess, using safe firearm practices, not using rifles or shotguns on the 10 yard ranges and (this fractures me), NOT shooting the structures! A few bad apples... they say. Join me and other regulars who enjoy this site by calling out the jerks abusing the range rules as this is a non supervised site. I'd hate to see this site close because of the behavior of a few morons. Update 6/17/24. After slow rolling the acoustical upgrades in 2023, the range was open for a short period before closing in mid December 2023-mid April 2024. Now, the 10 yard ranges are closed supposedly for planning upgrades to the existing berms. My beef is why do the 10 yard ranges have to be closed for "planning"? My guess is continued pressure from local landowners has influenced the DNR's decision. So, they "plan" the rest of this year and make the "improvements" during the summer of 2025? Will this range ever return to "normal" after spending taxpayers $$ on upgrades? I am starting to doubt it.

This is a fantastic state range. There have been lots of closures which while frustrating have all been because they were making the range even better.

DNR needs to open this back up to the public. Went there to shoot and it was closed website said it was open but guess DNR closed it for the season, Its free open it back up for people to shoot their guns. If they don't open it soon, guess I will have to get a membership to a club. I've been shooting here over 10 years. Its the only place I can shoot outside at 100 Yards.

I really appreciate the new sound Barrier thank you. The big guns got out of control over the years. It's a lot quieter now.

Closed several days before deer season! A lot of money spent on it and itΓÇÖs closed 3 days a week. I called the ASGA hq and got a message that the office for the 44,000 acre area is closed to the public and messages are infrequently checked! What a joke.

Used to be great until they shut it down 4 days a week. I guess the more we use it, the more we can annoy those that complained about the noise.

Was a great shoot at the range today. Nice covered stalls with pivoting seat and multiple bench rests. Fellow shooters were friendly and safe.

The residents are complaining about the shooting noise hence the reason why they've complained to the DNR to shut it down

They've been closed for the entire summer to put up a few walls. Literally a few days worth of work. First they said they'd be open by July, then August. Now it's almost September, and they're still closed. I don't see why they couldn't remain open during renovation since they're normally only open two days a week anyway.
