This range needs complete new staff. Everytime I go there it's something new and I'm done with this place! Today I was informed that when the range was cold that I needed to point my firearm down range (100yrd rifle) after unloading an removing the magazine an locking bolt open I turned gun pointing into the concrete wall away from people before walking down range. They informed me I needed to place my rifle pointing down range an the range person would look to make sure the gun was unloaded. Ok well do I trust this person!? Hmmm! So 3 people 2 of which tell me they are board members tell me that if my firearm was to discharge the ricochet could possibly hit someone ok as opposed to taking a round directly to the back as I'm walking down range with 5 rifles pointing at me. Are you kidding me!? This is safe? I couldn't believe what I was being told and the worse part was as a child growing up I was taught to ALWAYS keep my gun pointed in a safe direction an taught my kids the same. Assuming I trusted the range official I do not believe walking down range with rifles pointing at my back is the safe option! This place gets worse everytime I try an support this place because I believe everyone needs a place to practice shooting and or sight in hunting rifles. So if you don't mind having firearms pointing your direction as you walk down range then enjoy! I will not be going back! An all they could say is that is the rules. Well if that's the rules an you believe it's safe to do that then good luck! My father, myself, wife, son, an his girlfriend, an our grandkids will NOT be back!

I would suggest getting to know the particular range manager that is monitoring your shooting lane. I had been shooting for about 30 minutes, the range officer called for a cease fire and clear chambers. Range is cold, I proceeded to change my paper target which was at 100 yards and moved said target closer to the 50 yard line. The range manager watched this whole process. He readies the line and declares the range is hot. I set up to shoot and then the range manager approaches me and said that it is against the range policy to move the targets. I would have to move the target back to the 100 yard line and he would have to assign me to a dedicated 50 yard range and I would have to move to the far side of the range in order to shoot. I thought this was a little silly considering he had watched me move the target and I have moved targets in the past and no other range officer has said that was a no no. I wouldn't had been upset if he had stopped me while I was in the process of moving the target but he decided to wait until I was prepared to shoot and then stopped me. I think he was inconsiderate at the least. He did say he could make the range cold so I could move the target back. I packed my stuff and went home, why bother. If the targets are not suppose to move then permanently fix the targets in place. It's easy. You can have the best facilities in the world but if your staff treats people rudely then it doesn't make a hill of beans now does it?

Had a great experience. Took my grandson so he could learn to shoot a shotgun. Great staff and range. Only complaint is that the state used taxes to build and volunteers to staff but still charges to use. I suppose they want more money to fund parks in western Kansas.

This is one of the cleanest, best-run Range I have ever visited. My only disappointment was in their recent price hike from $10 to $15. Otherwise I would easily have given them a 5-star rating. I hope they reduce the fee back to the original $10 fee as most patrons only stay long enough to sight-in their firearm which generally takes less than an hour. Many thanks to all the volunteers that staff the facility WITHOUT PAY!

Great place to go if you want your range time interrupted for unsolicited advice on how to shoot your gun (and I will add it wasnΓÇÖt because anything being done was dangerous.)
