Questions & Answers

Q: Does the rifle and pistol range provide targets? or does the shooter have bring there own.

A: Targets are available for purchase. Target stands are standard for everyone.

- Chris Douglas (4 years ago)

Q: Do people here shoot on Tuesdays, when it's otherwise not open? I'd like to visit the Mima Mounds with my cousin, but he has PTSD and I'd prefer not risk bringing back ugly memories for him by taking him around here when there's a lot of loud gunfire. Got nothing against shooting, just want to make sure he has a good experience!

A: Evergreen Sportsmen Club is not open on Tuesdays. There may, however, be police or other special group's training. My feeling is you shouldn't have a problem

Q: Can we rent ear protection?

A: We have foam ear plugs for sale in the main office. At the Rifle Pistol range, we have over-the-year protection available for free to use if the foam plugs don't provide enough protection. (limited supplies)

Q: 7/1/20 Is your trap range open and what safety precautions do i need to be aware of because of virus

A: Ray, the trap range is open (not this weekend, as there is an event though). All of our safety protocols are listed on our website, www.shootesc.org, as well as our range calendar.

- Dan Solie (4 years ago)

Q: Can you shoot shotguns at this range? If so what types of ammo are allowed?

A: Ryan, At the rifle range, only slug and buckshot are allowed. At the shotgun range they allow up to 7-1/2. No steel shot.

- Dan Solie (5 years ago)

Q: Can 13 year olds help at the gun club and earn money still?

A: It's mainly volunteer run, no minors. There was a time where they would hire kids to help score during certain shoots, but that hasn't happened in a while.

- Dan Solie (5 years ago)

A: Only a couple of the admin & maintenance folks are paid, all others are volunteer members.

- Chris Douglas (5 years ago)

Q: does the club have shooting rests or do I need to bring one

A: But if you prefer a sled type you should bring one.

- Chris Douglas (5 years ago)

A: They do have rests for each lane, as well as bean bags to adjust height and the like.

- Paoakalani Naipo (5 years ago)

Q: How long of a shot can you get at this range?

A: The rifle & pistol range is 100 yards. Blackpowder/ muzzleloader range 50 yards. Pistol only bay is 15 yards.

- Chris Douglas (6 years ago)

A: 200 is there max

- Alan Frost (6 years ago)

Q: Is there an archery range?

A: YES

- Monique Davis (7 years ago)

A: From the website. "The Evergreen Sportsmen's Club is the West Coast's premiere shooting facility. Providing 36 trap fields, skeet field, a 5-Stand area, a 100 yard covered rifle range, covered 25 yard pistol range, Archery and Blackpowder Ranges, Cowboy Action Facility and a Sporting Clays range."

A: Not on the complex. There is one in that area but I haven't been. I heard that you have to be a member of the Evergreen Sportsman club to have access.

This was my first time trap shooting AND handling a 12 gauge shotgun. As a beginner, Jeremy was thoughtful enough to stop by with instruction about EVERYTHING. He was so incredibly patient and passionate about ensuring understanding about my weapon and how it's a machine that works WITH your body not controlled outside of you. After his instruction I ended up hitting the target on my second shot as well as over half my targets as a FIRST TIME SHOOTER! AND, was NOT sore even after several days because of Jeremy's instructions. I am grateful (as I only see TikTok videos of people doing the most stupid things at outdoor ranges) because they aren't educated. I will definitely be back! Grounds are clean. People are friendly! Had a great time shooting! Thank you JEREMY for all you do!

This was my first trap shooting experience and it was excellent. I didn't make it over to the pistol range or the rifle range, but others in the group said they liked it. They especially like the person at the pistol range giving helpful tips to the beginners.

Amazing Shooting Range! Today was actually my first time shooting at the rifle/pistol range and I couldnΓÇÖt be more amazed. The RSO was extremely nice and the range is set up perfectly. I will for sure come back here and recommend this place to anyone.

The RSOΓÇÖs were very knowledgeable and helpful. Friendly too, and they could smell how green I was from a mile away. Yet they still were respectful and I left knowing much more than when I arrived.

5/15/23 - Rifle and Pistol range is open Fridays 10-4 with credit card ONLY payment on the range. New member rate is $10 , non-members $20 & military $15 per day. 5/5/22 Update - Summer hours on rifle/ pistol range are now extended to 11-5 on weekends.. 5/28/21 Update - Rifle-Pistol range is open Wed-Th & Sat-Sun 11-3 by reserved two hour time slots by calling or stopping into the office. This range has had some upgrades over the last year. Payments for range time is done at the sales office, not on the range. Memberships can now be renewed online. This is a nonprofit, member run facility. It's one of the oldest around and many parts/areas are showing it. They are one of the few clubs around that do not require membership for range use. They do not require members to commit monthly service time, nor do they require NRA membership. Multiple ranges for rifle, black powder, skeet, and bow/ archery. The Mima Marauders run a 3-gun cowboy competition range every month. Supervised multi-use rifle/pistol range is open Wed-Sun from 10-4. If you found this post to be helpful please consider adding a thumbs-up. 👍

Shot 5-stand and skeet today. Layout was both challenging and fun on 5-stand. Had a great time. Jeremy was all over refilling the carousels when we ran dry. EZ pull card system and remote nice to have. Highly recommend!

We had a great time at the range. My friend and I were new to shooting rifles, and went to practice. The safety officers went out of their way to give us pointers along the way. 10/10 recommend.
