Questions & Answers

Q: Do you classify M855 "Green Tip" Ammo to be armor piercing?

A: Negative, that's a mild steel core which is not considered a true AP round :) come on in and enjoy!!!

- Matt Sebesta (6 years ago)

Q: I want to learn how to shoot a gun, do you give lesson and how much does it cost?

A: I don't give lessons, i just go there to practice shooting..

- junior roman (5 years ago)

Q: Do you allow ammo with steel casings?

A: Of course, just no tracer, explosive, incendiary, or true armor piercing ammo allowed....we wouldn't want to start a fire :)

- Matt Sebesta (5 years ago)

Q: Do I need to bring targets, or are they available onsite?

A: They are available on site! They run from 25 cents to 2.50 each and we even have one that if you cam shoot a smiley face in it you win a free range fee!!!

- Matt Sebesta (6 years ago)

Q: Can I rent a gun rest? Might be a no brainer question, but I'd rather ask then to assume.

A: Yep! Delta rests on all windows with spotting scopes AND lead sleds are free to members or just $5 for the day

- Matt Sebesta (5 years ago)

A: Yes you can rent a gun, you will have to leave a credit card and an ID at the desk, as well as buy the ammo from them (square deal, really).

- Yiftah Niv (5 years ago)

Q: Can i bring my own 45 1911

A: Absolutely just make to bring it in a case or holster- something that covers the trigger guard :) see you soon!

- Matt Sebesta (5 years ago)

Q: Can one shoot black powder revolvers, and rifles here?

A: Yes, you can.

- Jim Coggins (6 years ago)

Had an awesome experience first time shooting my Glock. Shoutout to Adrian for showing me some tips and tricks! Made a night and day difference. They also have a great deal on 9mm ammo, make it in before they run out!

Great quiet spot with all the ranges. Always have a great time at the clay range and the personnel are super helpful! Matt helped us out when we forgot our trigger guard key and got us going for a great time.

I started shooting at the Family Shooting Center about a year ago. And I'll keep coming back! The staff are friendly and attentive, making sure that everyone has a safe, enjoyable time. This is the best value for money that I have found in the Denver area and includes rifle, pistol, and shotgun ranges. The staff were helpful in offering advice to me as a relatively new shooter and their enthusiasm encouraged me to start clay shooting. Thank you all!

I like this place, no frills just show up. They have a 100 yard range for rifles. Usually come at least a couple times a year just to make sure my equipment's all sighted in correctly before hunting season.

Not a great experience over the weekend. Guy inside the shop was nice but The RSOs can be quite overbearing. I get that it's a public range but it's not fun going there. Between that and a $27/person range fee, it just isn't worth it anymore.

First time visitor. Wish I wouldΓÇÖve read the reviews. As some have mentioned - gentlemen behind the counter was friendly and helpful. The RSO left much to be desired. DonΓÇÖt shoot too fast. DonΓÇÖt shoot the wood, or youΓÇÖll have to pay for it. Save your money.

3 strikes, first the guy at the counter tried to overcharge me. Then, on two visits in a row they weren't open when they were supposed to be, customers waiting in parking lot. On both occasions I left 15 minutes past opening time so I don't even know when they finally did open. Poorly run is my conclusion.

Fantastic to have a nice place to shoot in the middle of a hugely leftist anti gun city. I have been going there for about 10 years and havenΓÇÖt had too many problems, ways to get yelled at by any RSO anywhere are to step across the yellow line when the range is cold, handle a firearm in any way when the range is cold, forget to leave your action open, etc. Only nick is I went there about a year ago with my son, we both paid, and the RSO made us share a lane. There were about 3 people there. I asked him why we had to share a lane when both of the lanes next to us were open and swear to god his answer was ΓÇ£because I said soΓÇ¥. People with an attitude like that need to lose their employment situation immediately.

I have I have visited this range a number of times and have been very impressed with the staff and the facility over the last few years. The quality and infrastructure has been improving drastically. I have been very excited to find that they were able to start doing sales here and I have found they have a wide selection and a assortment of firearms that are new and used high-end and introductory models. The staff is fun and keeps everything interesting and safe along with an atmosphere that you want to return to. Of course you will see that there are a lot of customers that will habitually break the rules in that case they get kicked out or yelled at which then they go leave a terrible review then thereΓÇÖs other ones that tend to just have a bad attitude and take it out on everybody there. This is a fun range and I encourage everyone to go visit!!!

I used to have a membership here. I didn't renew it, and after today, won't return there. It's not the static targets on both the pistol and rifle ranges. It's not the annoying "no rapid fire" rule. It's not even the extra $5 charge for "backboard replacement" if you want to shoot tactical shotgun on the pistol side (even though you'll obviously have to replace that backboard eventually anyway). What my last straw was is that fact that this place rarely opens on time. There's 20 people waiting outside your gate at 10:00am. You're supposed to open at 10. Then, it's another half hour before the shooting starts because everyone has to check in and pay at the office, then check in with the RSO, then wait until the RSO watches each individual person uncase their weapon, then everyone walk out to place targets. Get your act together, Family Shooting Center. Try opening when you are supposed to be open. Update: back up to five stars. They're mostly open on time now, and if they're not, there's a Very Good Reason why. Like a tractor breaking down 5 minutes from open but it's a 15 minute walk back to the office. They're also full of great plans for improving the entire facility over the next year, and I can't wait for it. Weekends are still....sporty. There's still the usual amateur hour of people who don't have any clue what they're doing, but the crop of RSOs they have are fantastic at heading those folks off before they do something uniquely stupid, and giving proper direction and training instead of just screaming at them. All in all, great place that's only going to get better. Dear Matt, two words: new stools.

Excellent range with good prices. RSO's were very friendly. Took their concealed carry class as well, the instructor was hands down amazing, and the class was very informative.

Never open on time. Ever. Some of the RSOs are cool but several of them will take their bad day out on you because they can. I wouldnΓÇÖt bring a family here but if you like dealing with dbags barking orders at you then this is the range for you. IΓÇÖve been here many times and given them a lot of my money. Todays trip will be the last.

This place.has a trap shooting facility! Yes, they also have pistol & rifle but for me, trapshooting is my sport. It's the closest trapshooting range in Denver, so for that reason alone, im adamently supportig them. good customer service, reasonable priced, and friendly atmosphere. A+++

Great range and accommodating staff. Any negative reviews are by folks who don't understand ranges. I am very grateful for a local outdoor range.

This was the first range I went to. Made me never want to go to another. The rude condescending staff made the experience awful. Turns out not all ranges are like this actually none of them are. Maybe the staff here should visit other ranges to see how professional businesses operate

Family Shooting Center provides an exceptional experience for both novice and experienced shooters. Best thing is you arenΓÇÖt going to smell gun powder. The staff is knowledgeable, safety-focused, and friendly. The range is well-maintained, and their equipment is top-notch. Whether you're a beginner or a seasoned pro, this is a fantastic place to enjoy a day of shooting. Highly recommend! Luke is the man over there. Awesome and super helpful guy.

It was a great place. I am bummed as we seem to have gone at a busy time. We are brand new at shooting. We knew nothing. We walked in and didn't realize the $25 on thier webside didn't include the pistol or rifle. We had to rent the gun too. As we were checking out some people behind us said don't for get the target. Then we paid. We headed out the door a sign said ear protection and ear plugs needed. It would have been nice if the guy that checked us out, ask if we had this stuff. They charge .50 for ear plugs. that should be included. seriously! They eye protection was $2.50. We also had to pay for amo All and all an adult would have to pay almost $60. So we could only have our 12 year do this as it was $12 cheaper and couldn't afford for our whole family. Also, the 22 rifle the rented him kept jamming. He shot four rounds and had to wait for help as they were really busy. The rifle got jammed 3 different times. We had to trade it out. The other gun he was able to shoot may 10 rounds before that got jammed. The guy said they must need cleaning. so we basically sat around most of the time as the guns didn't work. I would think they would have refunded us when they clearly stated it was on them and the guns need cleaning. My suggestion is to post a sign saying everything they need before going on the range and on thier website. They need to make it clear range fee, gun rental, fee and something that says you need to bring ear and eye protection if they don't have something they can purchase at the range. They worker on the range was really nice.
