Farragut Public Shooting Range - Idaho Fish and Game

Q: Is the range still open seasonal?
A: Posted hours are 9am-4pm Friday Saturday and Sunday. They do close if weather is especially bad, but they post that on the website.

We took a big party there to shoot. He immediately judged us having kids and said oh this is going to be fun. Also said I can tell you havenΓÇÖt been here. Not even worth my time. Better out in the woods. Rude and not helpful. I had my Down syndrome kid with me and he discriminated against him thinking IΓÇÖd actually give him a gun. A lot of judgement in the matter of minutes. We left not worth the judgement. We know how to shoot .

Waste of time and money. Drove from Coeur d'Alene to check it out for the first time with friends. Paid $10 each and shot a total of 4 rounds before I got tired of the range officer Michael telling me how to shoot my rifle and move my targets the whole time, I had to say I'm done and leave. Unfortunately I won't be going back because of my first experience with this range.

I love this range! And even more so the volunteers that put on the classes for adults and youths! You guys are so awesome and I very much appreciate you as do so many other people if it wasn't for you kids without dad's wouldn't get the opportunity to learn how to hunt, track, trap and fish

Very nice, covered, facilities. Could use an access road to drive out to the 200 yard targets, though.

If I could rate this with zero stars, I would. My best friend and I were in town from Tacoma Washington, and he brought his two black powder pistols with him. The volunteer range safety officers were completely shocked when we told them we were going to be shooting black powder. They acted as though we had no experience with firearms, and micro managed everyone who was there. When the range was hot, I was behind my buddy abs one of the grumpy volunteers yelled at me to be behind the yellow line. I stepped back even though your allowed to be next to someone when the range is hot. When the range was cold, they rudely motioned for my buddy to step back from the line when one of his feet was a fraction of an inch over it. When the range went hot again, I stepped up to press the record button on my GoPro so I could record my buddy as he was firing. Here he comes again and tells me that if he has to talk to me again, we'll both be told to leave. I told him that at every firing range I've been to, you're allowed to be next to the person firing, and that everyone needs to step back when the range is cold again. These people barely even knew who they had on their range. I got yelled at for not wearing eye protection which I simply just forgot so just to make him happy, I wore my reading glasses, then he tells my buddy not to blow himself up. I've never been to a range that was anything like this in my life, but I won't be back to this one.

Nice small gun range. Friendly staff. Casual yet professional atmosphere. Just wish it went out to 500yds.

I took my son there today to sight in his new rifle he got for Christmas. We were first barked at to read the rules as soon as we walked in the front door. Then we had at least 4 range masters hovering over us in the range as well as other patrons that were there with us. When we left I asked my son if he had fun and he said it was ok but I was really intimidated by all the questions I was being asked and said he would rather not go back. I think this is pretty sad. They have really nice facilities but a bunch of volunteers range masters whose wives donΓÇÖt want them at home. I would also add they are raising their prices to 10 dollars per person so for a family of 4 itΓÇÖs 40 bucks. My advice is join a local gun club. After a few trips with my family it will pay for itself and you get a key and get to enjoy yourself instead of being hounded by a bunch of x security guards with a power trip.

Just a nice clean shooting range to get ready for big game seasons with 100 and 200 yard ranges available. I didnΓÇÖt shoot any pistol or do any archery while I was there, but the facilities look good for that shooting as well.

This is a nice clean range with shooting distances out to 200yds and for 5.00 per person its pretty affordable. It gets only 3 stars because it lacks on hours and days open for those that wants to shoot year round. It's only open on weekends and closed after November, no good for some people. Otherwise it's decent.
