Foothills Public Shooting Complex of Cleveland County

Q: Can you shoot a 22 rifle at the steel targets
A: Hi Tony, you can shoot any firearm that uses handgun caliber ammunition on the steel target range. Thanks TheMick26 for the direct quote from our website FAQs!
- Foothills Public Shooting Complex of Cleveland County (5 years ago)
A: Hello Tony. Per the FAQ on their website, I believe you can. Have a good day. Why can I not shoot rifles at the steel targets?  You may use pistol caliber carbines or rifles chambered for .22 caliber or standard pistol calibers on steel. Shotguns with a maximum shot size of 7 1/2 can also be used on the steel range. The restrictions are in place for the safety of shooters from bullet fragments and to extend the service life or our steel targets.
- TheMick26 (5 years ago)
Q: Is Green Tip 5.56 excluded from use at the range? I know it's not illegal but some ranges don't want it shot.
A: Yes. All steel-core ammunition is banned. They check your ammunition with a magnet when you arrive on the range.
- Michael Carnes (3 years ago)
Q: What are the prices?
A: $12 per day
- Bruce DeHaven (3 years ago)
Q: Do we need to call before coming out to shoot? Or is someone on site?
A: We are a first come, first served public range. Admission is by the day, for all day. All ranges and office are staffed during range hours. There are no memberships, just daily admission.
- Foothills Public Shooting Complex of Cleveland County (4 years ago)
Q: Hi can rent guns to shoot if u donΓÇÖt have one
A: We rent 12 and 20 gauge shotguns only. You must have a current concealed carry or pistol permit and current drivers license to rent one.
- Foothills Public Shooting Complex of Cleveland County (4 years ago)
Q: Can we shoot FMJ ammo? Needing to site in the rifle. 17 hmr.
A: Yes. FMJ has no bearing on what the projectile is made of. We will check all ammo to ensure that the projectile does not stick to a magnet. Steel or bi-metal projectiles are not allowed on our range. Steel casings are fine. See you soon!
- Foothills Public Shooting Complex of Cleveland County (5 years ago)
Q: How much does it cost
A: Our prices vary. Please check our website or Facebook page for details. http://foothillspublicshooting.cc/range-fees/

Q: Can someone from out of state use the range?
A: Sure can, they are open to the public. Just watch safety video and sign waivers and agreements.
- Bonner Pittman (6 years ago)
A: Yes u just have to watch a 10 min safety video and fill out a form then pay and u ready to go shooting
- Charles Wharmby (6 years ago)
A: Yes. I have met shooters from several states there. Have fun!
- Sly Mitchell (6 years ago)
Q: Do you guys have instructors for people that have not shot before?
A: They have range officers that are there to keep everyone safe and probably won't be able to provide much instruction. I think your best bet is to take an intro class or NRA safety class at a local range. That way you will learn safe habits but will be more comfortable when you go to Foothills and have a lot more fun. It's an incredible facility that we are really lucky to have access to.
- Bill M (6 years ago)
A: Yes they are instructor for help with this jusy let them know during registration's
- Rebecca Moore (6 years ago)
A: Yup some good ones too.
- O'Shea (6 years ago)
A: The range officer will help you most of them r Cleveland County Deputies and will be glad to give u some instructions
- Marshall Beheler (6 years ago)
Q: Do you sell targets?
A: Yes, also get one free when you pay for the day.
- eye osirus (7 years ago)
A: We sell targets here, you can bring your own targets, and you get 1 free target with each lane that you will be shooting on.

First time at this range today. Facilities are very nice and well constructed. Ample parking and all staff where very friendly and welcoming to someone new to the facility and public ranges in general. Everyone was exceptionally good at maintaining range safety without being over bearing. It was very well communicated when rage was hot or cold. And I did not see anyone not following the rules during my visit. Spent the day(3-4 hours) at the 50 yard rifle range and had a great time despite the extreme wind we had. I will be back again, It's about an 90 min drive from me one way. And I hate driving if that tells you anything. Also i'm a pretty big guy and was able to comfortably sit at the rifle benches without any issues, which I was a bit worried about.

I signed my two adult children up for concealed carry classes, which didn't tell us until AFTER being there for 8 hours, that once completed, they now have to go pay the county $90 MORE, to actually get the permit!!! THIS SHOULD BE TOLD UP FRONT!!! during phone intake!!! But no.. it wasn't.. I waited in my car for 8 hours, spent $85 TWICE, FOR WHAT??? The pizza and drink you provided my kids with during their lunch break?? I mean WHY?? WHY WAS THESE THINGS NOT SAID AND MADE CLEAR DURING INTAKE??? VERY disappointed.. understatement.. website says it provides proper PPE (ear muffs, safety glasses) and that's A LIE!!! We were told we had to purchase them ourselves and bring them.. Just REALLY aggravated and disappointed.. DO BETTER!!! Your instructors are RUDE!! And eyeballing my daughter's butt the entire time.. DO BETTER!!!

Large, beautiful facility. I've enjoyed the steel challenge and metal madness unlimited competitions at this range. I'm a fairly new shooter, and everyone made me feel very comfortable and welcome.

The Foothills range is arguably the best open range within a 100-mile radius. It offers excellent facilities, a variety of spots for rifles, handguns, archery, and both paper and iron options - all at a very reasonable price. For me, itΓÇÖs like Disneyland for gun enthusiasts. While IΓÇÖve been exploring alternatives in the area to broaden my options, no other range has matched the quality and experience so far. Kudos to the Foothills team for creating such an outstanding facility!

IΓÇÖm reviewing this range from the position of a more advanced shooter. If you are new this facility is a WONDERFUL place to shoot and learn. This review would be 3 star and a bit more favorable if not for one rule. You have to qualify on the 50 yard range to shoot at the 200 yard range. DoesnΓÇÖt matter if itΓÇÖs your .22, a .308 hunting rifle, your AR or a custom 6.5 Creedmore youΓÇÖve won national ELR matches with, you have to register your gun and if you make any major changes you must redo the qualification. The qualification expires as well, I believe itΓÇÖs an absurdly low 90 days. The facility is public and with that of course comes RSOs. All that IΓÇÖve met are pretty cool dudes so good on them for that. Another issue I find myself having is no steel case or steel core. When shooting paper this rule makes no sense because there is a dirt backstop and all 50 yard rifle range targets are paper meaning thereΓÇÖs no chance of ricochet or damage to range property, so IΓÇÖm sorry if you shoot a Mosin, SKS, AK or anything else. The range says no M193 ammo though this rule clearly isnΓÇÖt (and canΓÇÖt) be enforced. Virtually all ammo for 5.56 that isnΓÇÖt 855 or 262 adjacent is 55 grain 193 so nothing to worry about there really. PISTOL BAYS they have a semi dynamic steel bay for handguns and itΓÇÖs pretty solid. They donΓÇÖt let you get close to the targets because you can (and probably still will) catch spall so wear eye and ear pro here. IΓÇÖve heard their trap/skeet range is good but I canΓÇÖt comment since IΓÇÖve never done it here. This gripe is quite minor to me but may be bigger to some. I LOVE free movement shooting and this place is strictly bench shooting when it comes to rifle. TLDR This range is good for new and inexperienced shooters but anyone wanting to get into tactical training and engaging man sized targets at 100 yards and out in realistic shooting positions would be better served elsewhere. The gun registration and 50 yard zeroing is an absolutely awful decision and the only reason for it to be required is if they setup the 200 yard poorly somehow.

Well worth the visit no matter how far you drive. Good prices, friendly RSOs, great shooting. Get there. I've been visiting Foothills for years. They are always evolving and adding new events... still one of the best places to shoot.

Friendly folks at the desk and on the range. Great price for all day shooting. I will be back very soon! 8/22/24 - went back to be sent to a different area from the weekend but same rules so nothing different. Staff is always friendly and will assist you if you have any questions. They are also willing to give tips for better shooting if you need them.

My husband and I took an archery class at Foothills last weekend. Top notch! They had multiple very patient instructors to help with the multiple ability levels in the class and had brought different types of bows and releases for students to try, which was great. Would definitely take the class again.
