Overall there are a lot of rules. The range goes out to 300m , they have target stands but you need to bring your own targets. If you are a warrant or higher the OIC position is a little annoying but the range is free and range ops is super helpful/friendly. Overall if you are into shooting long range there are better ranges in the area for an annual membership of $200 for military. If you shoot a lot and want less rules I'd try either tri-state or the other one in daleville. If you shoot occasionally and want to shoot without spending an arm and a leg this place is for you. Outside under an awning with benches and an area for prone shooting.

Great ranges come with great numbers of rules, so this place is no exception. Don't be surprised to get stuck with a radio, a procedural book, and raising and taking down flags. If you can handle that, this is a clean, orderly range with nice benches, well marked lanes, and free plastic silouhettes and frames for shooting. Bring your own targets if you use a scattergun. Great long hours on the weekend with friendly and experienced shooters attending.

Love this place, especially being that it's free and I can shoot my rifles and pistols here.

FREE to service members and retirees. Open dawn to dusk when helicopter gunnery range cold. Range operations across street will provide further details.

You have to visit Range Operations and show your military ID, Fort Rucker weapons registration form, and sign for the range at Range Operations (across the road) before using the range. They're usually open when the suns out and when the other ranges aren't in use. It's free and well maintained but there are a lot of restrictions.
