Staff was the best. Everyone was upbeat and happy. The facility was clean and organized. Great atmosphere. Had my younger boys with me for their first range experience, and they learned a lot and want to go again.

I bought my first precision rifle and started shooting LR 7 weeks ago. Instead of buying a flashy custom precision rifle, I decided to buy a reliable low tier production rifle and put the money I saved on training. I learned enough in the first month to ring steel at 1200 yards, but I relied too heavily on my ballistics calculator, a chronograph, a wind meter, and a spotter. My goal with the Fossil Pointe (FPTX) training was to acquire enough skills to be able to independently call my shot at extreme long distances no matter the wind condition and terrain. In short, I want to ΓÇ£seeΓÇ¥ my wind calls. This requires (1) solidifying fundamentals, (2) mastering key techniques, and (3) having a keen understanding of the physics involved behind a ballistics solver. So I sought training for the first two at FPTX, and as an engineer, I would supply the third. When searching for a trainer, it's crucial to have someone who knows what they're talking about and can communicate abstract concepts in an easy to understand manner. For this, Rhett is definitely your guy. Rhett set me on the right path in our 1st session by helping me make equipment modifications, correcting bad habits, adjusting my technique, and giving me pointers to tighten my groupings. Prior to this training, I was holding for both elevation and windage. While this technique allowed me to get on target fast, it left me questioning whether my hold values were correct as I quickly transitioned from one distance to another. Rhett showed me the value of dialing for elevation and holding for windage. He then showed me how to construct a DOPE chart. In our 2nd session, Rhett continued to fine-tune my technique and then showed me how to make wind calls using my gun number. I qualified for the LR range, ringing steel at 300, 400, 500, 600, and 700 yards with a single shot each. We then moved on to 750 and 800 yards. My ultimate goal is to hit targets beyond a mile. This will require well-trained powers of observation for wind calls. But thanks to Rhett and FPTX, I can now hone these skills at sub-1000 yards and use it as a foundation to get out past 1760 yards. Whether you're new or seasoned, I highly recommend getting training from Rhett at FPTX.

Great place. IΓÇÖve come here twice to trap and skeet shoot and had a great experience but the second time we came, their machines kept messing up and lagging with delays or non working posts and running out of clays which delayed our time and experience. We will have to come back to shoot on their long range. The food is good and service is great though.

Out there today at the Long Range facility. GREAT outing for four of us. Rhett came out for instruction (2 of our 4 shooters had limited bolt action rifle experience, only one shooter with long range experience). We took rental guns: 6.5 CM, sub MOA, silenced. Rhett got everyone zeroed at 100. Had us use the reticle to calculate elevation adjustments and then dial the equivs to demonstrate the relationship. Got everyone out to 500yrds on steel. Ended a 3hr session shooting 450 stacked and offset pair of steel targets. Some learned everything and one learned a bunch. Could not have been a more relaxed, educational and entertaining outing. Rhett, flat out, is outstanding as both coach and leader. It was about 100F-- but under the cover and with the breeze, no prob. If you are looking to plan an outing and you are at or near DFW, this is THE PLACE. Range is immaculate with target berms every 50y from 250 out to 800. Obstacles too if desired. The best outdoor range IΓÇÖve ever been to. Excellent trap, skeet and sporting clay courses. The pistol and gun range are also very good. ItΓÇÖs a bit of a drive but well worth it. The gun ranges have never been crowded when IΓÇÖve been, but maybe I shouldnΓÇÖt say that. Help keep the place to the people in the know.

Great facility and clubhouse. Be sure to order the Philly sandwich. 800 yard range. 50,100 and 200 yard standard bench range for rifle. 15 yards for pistol. I will repeat!!!

Not only was the shooting experience an absolute blast, we ran into some transportation issues so Chef Dave drove us to the nearest town so we could get home. Great guy and everyone at Fossil Pointe was extremely friendly and helpful. Thank you!
