Q: I read the range rules online and just want to verify that one of them is accurate. Do they actually limit loading rifles to five rounds and pistols to ten rounds? Why force customers to reload that much? Am I missing something?

A: Update, both rifles and handguns may now be loaded to 10 rounds with a range rule change. Yes, those are the current range rules. Having shot at numerous ranges over the years this is not an uncommon rule. I understand that some ranges do not have any limits. I have seen semi-auto firearms malfunction and fire the entire magazine before. This has actually killed people (I personally know of one myself). Thank you for your input an interest in the club.

A: Wow, I won't be going there again.

A: Your microcompact carry pistol is now holding too many rounds; you'll have to cycle one out of the mag, lol

- A Google User (a year ago)

A: It's true but you aren't limited to how many clips you are using so I don't have any issues since I have two clips for all my guns and usally find I need a fresh target so I can accurately track my progress.

Q: Do you have to have magazines that only hold 5-10 rounds or can you just have that many loaded into the mag? I don't have any small magazines.

A: Thank you for the question. You may use magazines of any size at the range; they can only be loaded to 10 rounds for both rifle and handgun. We do have some events with exceptions to this general range rule. No need to go out and purchase anything new. Additional information regarding membership is located on our website or please feel free to contact us.

A: Please contact us for additional information as we have orientations and other opportunities to show you around the facility. There is a contact form on the website home page. Thank you for your question and hope to see you at the range.

Great club, offers a variety of classes/group events including a "Ladies only Shoot night" the third Monday of each month and host the Salem Chapter of AWA on the first Thursday of each month. You don't have to be members to join in. I appreciate the wonderful support and teaching aspects of both these events.

My husband and I enjoy our time here very much. We're so glad we joined. While nothing is perfect when ran only by member VOLUNTEERS, it sure seems to work well. Thank you for all the time and effort it takes to keep a great place up and running.

Pretty fun place to hang out. Not sure why there are so many negative reviews involving rules. The place is pretty relaxed, but still plenty safe. Updated universal 10 round limit, so bring plenty of mags and that's no issue at all. They have steel targets and cardboard silhouettes to put paper targets on. Good 100 and 200 yard outdoor range. Really fun gallery type area connected to the clubhouse if you want to be mostly indoors. Coffee pot and a working air conditioner in the clubhouse. Can't ask for much more honestly.

Got my rifle sighted in here today! First time trying this range out. It was a busy day but the volunteers working all did a great job!

Not surprised to find that the hunters safety class on 9/21/2021 was a room full of 20-30 unmasked individuals.

What a terrible experience here, especially considering the facility itself was nice enough and clean. Where to start? The customer service was awful, the management is old and out of touch, and while the place was clean and relatively well-taken care of, it also has multiple onerous rules that don't make sense. For example, I can understand no full-auto or bump firing on the range, that's sensible for obvious reasons. But magazine capacity limits of only 5 per rifle or 10 per pistol? What the hell for? Every magazine I own has more capacity than that, and I'd like to practice with my firearms in the same setup I'd need to use them in. When I tried to ask about this rule, the aforementioned old (OLD) men took umbrage at being questioned and essentially told me to pound sand. Then, after my first year at the club, the club did not send me my renewal notice as they should have. Several months after the renewal period (renewal was in July or June, I believe?) I received a call from the club asking if I would like to renew. I asked if I would be prorated for the cost of the years membership, since several months had passed already and I wouldn't be getting a full year's worth for my money. The man on the phone took OFFENSE to this and seemed baffled why I would request it, and I was flatly denied. I decided to renew anyways, and set a calendar reminder for when to renew so I (or really, THE CLUB) wouldn't miss the next renewal period. Shortly after this, Coronavirus struck and the club shut down for a period of time with barely any communication to members (that I am aware of, at least), forewarning, or AGAIN, compensation due to the club being unusable for that time. That was the final straw for me and I haven't been back since, and I don't plan to, unless the people running this place are put out to pasture. It's a damn shame, too, because the club itself is close to home and fun to use.
