Questions & Answers

Q: How long is the range

A: 100 yds

- Chris Hammond (The Game Wyzard) (7 years ago)

Q: As a public resource- why is this only open on weekends?! The state range in Rhode Island is open and staffed seven days a week from 8:00-6:00

A: Because elections have consequences. Like RI and their new standard magazine ban, Connecticut dislikes the exercising of freedom. The irony is CT's nick name "The Constitution State"

- Tom R (2 years ago)

Q: Are shooting rests available? (Sand bags, etc ...)

A: Never ask for them. I take my own. But the place is Amazing.

- alberto rodriguez (3 months ago)

A: To answer my own question... Sometimes... They have a few, but not enough for everyone so don't count on it, but you might get lucky

- Andrew (3 months ago)

Q: Does the Glastonbury range close in winter?

A: Yes it does. Last weekend in november then closed until spring. I think april it starts back up.

- Jim Hickey (2 years ago)

Q: Hi! Do you have moving targets shooting

A: No moving targets available. The DEEP provides target frames, but you must bring your own targets (paper only)

- Tom R (2 years ago)

Q: How do you make a reservation online cannot find it anywhere ???

A: You must create an account with the CT DEEP, this will grant you a conservation ID. That ID will be used to gain access to the Online Sportsmen Licensing System. Once you have access to the Online Sportsmen Licensing System you will log in, go to the "Product Select" page, select the "Other" tab, find and click the "ADD" icon next to the "GLASTONBURY SHOOTING RANGE" this will give you available dates and times to be added to your cart for checkout (it is free). If it seems like a PIA that is normal, it is because we live in CT.

- Tom R (2 years ago)

Q: Can pistols be used on this range?

A: Yes, but you need to have a current CT State Permit to Carry Pistols and Revolvers

- Tom R (2 years ago)

Q: What is the maximum distance from a target you can be?

A: 100 yards

- Chris Hammond (The Game Wyzard) (6 years ago)

Q: (Translated by Google) How much is admission (Original) Cuanto cuesta la entrada

I enjoy the regimented rules and structure. There are 3 range officers for the 10 benches and they do a great job making sure everyone is being safe. Usually a good crowd of people there. Make sure to show up 30 min early. The website says 15, but it's wrong.

If you'll deny anyone that doesn't show up 30 minutes early, why not put the start time at 9:30 instead of 10? I Arrived at 9:45, as nothing in the sign up process indicated I should arrive earlier, but was turned away. This is clearly a problem you deal with regularly. The range overall is of a quality commensurate with being run by the state of CT, and staffed as poorly.

Checked in 4 minutes late to the 15 minute early rule. I was immediately turned away despite me apologizing and explaining we came from over an hour away and hit some traffic. The guy who spoke to us said ΓÇ£too bad read the rules, we donΓÇÖt make exemptions for anyone your not shooting todayΓÇ¥. I donΓÇÖt think IΓÇÖve ever met someone more condescending in my life.

Absolutely had a blast here. Joe, Ty, and Dylan were phenomenal! My son and I are new to hunting with shotguns and we went to Glastonbury Range to learn and get some tips from much more experienced people. The Conservation Officers started off with the range rules and remained close by to assist with any questions or just to give advice. We can not wait to return in the spring! Thanks Joe, Ty, and Dylan, your help at the range was incredibly helpful. Looking forward to going back again. Hopefully the State of Connecticut will open more facilities that operate just like the Glastonbury Gun Range.

This range is great, up to 100yds. The RSOs are very friendly, knowledgeable, and responsible. Anyone claiming theyΓÇÖre on a power trip is lying.

Went for the first time it was 104 degrees outside. The staff was outstanding and friendly. They had ice cold waters for those who wanted some. I look forward to many more future visits.

I've lived in town for years and have always wanted to check this place out. You can't book very often, but its a very convenient range and for no fee you can't go wrong. There's a lot of range officers staffed who were all fun to talk to. Will be returning on a regular basis at this point.

I've been shooting at this range for the past 7 years. Hands down, the best public range in CT. Atmosphere is very pleasing. For a 100 yard range, it has a very open feel. Well defined boundaries between shooting stations. Brass netting and target stands provided. Range Officers are informative and take safety very seriously. I have a Socom II that I shoot regularly here. Have not once received a dirty look or "warning" because of the noise. (This has happened at 2 other ranges in CT). This isn't a range where your going to practice your rapid fire or tactical draw techniques. It's simply a place where you can go, and shoot holes in targets for free. I've seen a couple of reviews where people say the Range Officers were on a power trip. I can say I have NEVER experienced this. Most of them are retired State Cops and very good guys. I've only seen them shut the range down twice, and that was because of gross negligence on a shooters part. In one case the shooter was not practicing proper muzzle control and flashed the entire group of shooters with their shotgun. The second instance involved someone trying to re-hang their target that fell down, while the range was HOT! If you go there, be safe and have fun. You wont have any issues!

Awesome safe place to go target shoot. All of the officers really care about safety. They do well to accommodate people either new shooters and disabled shooters. Also they are very knowledgeable and helpful when problems occur with firearms.

Surpassed all expectations! I highly recommend this shooting range. We are a family of four with two children (14 and 11).The Range Officer's couldn't do enough for us. Their support was outstanding and safety was of the utmost importance. They took time to go over gun safely, proper handling and gave us the support needed to proceed confidently and safely. We will absolutely return and with donuts or coffee cake for the guys!

Today was my first time. After 30 years of shooting im convinced these guys want to diminish all interest in the shooting sport. They yelled more than my ex at everyone and expressed an interest in expanding their power trip. Yes its free...but i want my money back. Trust me,id rather pay for range time and get respect...much better than a condescending civil employee.
