Good place to sight in a rifle. Pretty solid benches. 25, 50, and 100 yard ranges. I have had very good experiences most of my visits. People are usually polite to each other, and communicate to check targets. There are some bad apples though. There is also an area to throw your own clays.

Just an observation....Closing at 5pm on the weekdays and not open at all on Wednesdays. Why can't servicing be done after 5pm? It doesn't get dark until several hours later during the summer...not very convenient for working folks...seems like 7 or 8pm would be a better closing time. While working in Fairbanks, Alaska, years ago, I went to the local outdoor shooting range at midnight once...Stays light all the time during the summer!!!!!

I guess I don't get it. Be one one thing or the other. I'm not really sure what they were thinking when they designed this thing. It has 3 ranges (25, 50, and 100) which are all covered. They are covered to the point where the edge of the roof comes down so low that you will likely bust your head a few times on the rafters. The only way to shoot is to sit down...low...in benchrest position. The problems? One, there is literally no where to shoot a pistol or a rifle from a standing position. As I said, you cannot stand and shoot. Second, anyone who wants to take advantage of this really nice benchrest setup, which includes outstanding benches, wants to shoot from distances longer than 100 yards, and definitely longer than 25 and 50. I just don't get it. I think that if someone was thinking (just using the layout they have now), they would have left the covers off of the 25 and 50 ranges allowing the 25 to be used for pistol and the 50 to be used for standing rifle (like 22 and AR). Then the third could be used as is. That or, if you are dead set on keeping this an exclusively benchrest range (which is fine with me), significantly lengthen the ranges. Benchrest shooters want to shoot 300, 400, 500 yards and beyond. Why in the world waste the money on a low-hanging pavilion and very nice benches for 25 yards? I don't get it.

Closed until October without any warning on the internet. I drove out here after looking on their website and Google. They should probably try to make this public knowledge rather than this pathetic sign once you get here.

Great shooting range. We always have a great time there. Wish it had a better pistol range, which is my only minor complaint.

My favorite range so far. If others are shooting when you arrive, take the time to briefly talk to whoever calls for a cease fire. That person/people are likely "in charge" of their group. Ask "what signal is given before shooting continues", and "no handling of firearms until then, right?". If they don't sound confident in their answer, say "hold tight I'm gunna check with those guys over there" (other groups) "and could you let them" (point to his people downrange that didn't hear any of this) "know too". It's always best to be on the same page and forces them to acknowledge that their group needs to check with yours. If you're thinking this is too much trouble, you've never been walking back from the 100yrd targets when shooting erupts at the 25yrd range. Wish I were there right now!

Golden Valley is a very excellent state ran range (Unless you are comparing it to Andy Dalton near Springfield, that range is AMAZING). It has a very pistol/rifle range and a nice skeet/trap set up. The range doesnΓÇÖt normally fill up until around midday, and if you get there early its not crowded at all. There is only one real draw back here, and that is the ΓÇ£privyΓÇ¥. As someone that has PTSD this thing is like looking directly into the gates of Hell, and is nothing IΓÇÖd ever wish upon my worst enemy. Oh my God, it is the worst ΓÇ£toiletΓÇ¥ I have ever seen. If you have to go poop, I suggest you go off into the woods and hope you donΓÇÖt get shot.
