Questions & Answers

Q: My wife wants a gun and has never owned one. Do you rent guns to shoot at the range? I would like her to test a few different guns before buying one

A: I believe you can at most shooting ranges. I would just call and ask first. Main thing if you bring your own ammo, make sure it's not steel inside the casing. They will magnet test every bit of your ammo. Even some not supposed to be are found to be steel inside. Casing doesn't matter, but the inner bullet does! Had my shooting day ruined by learning that unfortunately.

Q: Do they have an archery range in powder springs ?

A: They do not. The only one they have is in Kennesaw.

- Adam Pierce (3 years ago)

Q: Can you shoot long rifle or shotgun there?

A: You can definitely shoot shotguns with all forms of shot, not sure about all calibers with slugs. I know you can shoot .300 blackout and. 223/5.56. not sure beyond that. Call is best option.

- Allan Loudermilk (7 years ago)

A: I shot both 6.8SPC II and 30-06 at the Range. Last I was there, I did see a note as they don't allow 270's.

- Michael Roach (6 years ago)

A: Yes. There are limits on which caliber rifle round can be shot. Shotgun rounds allowed are buck shots and slugs. Birdshot is not allowed.

- Anthony Davis (6 years ago)

A: Long rifles lead core only. $100 fine for steel core. Shot guns, Buck shot.

- Joe Adams (7 years ago)

A: 308 and under

- Nick Theodocion (7 years ago)

Q: Can I register my gun there and get a permit to carry? Di you have classes to learn how to vlean, load, unload, and shoot?

A: There is no gun registration in Georgia. You don't need to take any class for your carry permit. Go pay to the courthouse and pay the fee, get photographed and fingerprinted. Then you can carry the gun on your body. No permit or registration is required to own or transport a firearm because this isn't a communist state.

- Chad L (7 years ago)

A: As others have said, this is still a free state so there is no gun registration. You can go by the probate court in your county to get a weapons carry license if you choose. All that said, you don't need a carry license to go by governors and take classes or private lessons. I know several of the instructors there and you simply can't go wrong. Just be safe and attentive and you will get what you need to be proficient with your firearm. Hope this is helpful. Be safe and have fun.

- Christopher Becker (7 years ago)

A: You have to get your permit to carry at the courthouse. Yes they have classes. Why would you want to register a gun?

- durell barber (7 years ago)

A: Do you have 380 or 9 mm rounds for sale

- Dwaine Crawford (4 years ago)

A: Great place, highly recommend

- Pat Idel (7 years ago)

Q: Why does the website say unsafe? Im not allowed to view the website or something?

A: The website lacks encryption that we have grown to expect from well made websites. Your data is more likely to be stolen from this site than others.

- Rhett Frank (3 months ago)

Q: If i wanted to walk in, rent a gun, and shoot on site. How much will that cost and what are the steps?

A: Probably best to call.

- Brian Gibson (6 years ago)

Q: If youΓÇÖre not a member, how much does a rental bow cost? I used to do archery and have been wanting to get back into it but donΓÇÖt have a bow right now.

A: As far as I know there is no archery equipment at the Hiram Governors anymore there are some from what I saw at the Kennesaw location

- Derek Fager (6 years ago)

Q: I want to learn shooting and archery for this which procedures I need to follow and which kind of requirements i need ??

A: You'll need a gun and a bow, or the have both you can rent at the club. The also have tons of classes you can take for both. As far as requirements you must be a U.S. citizen with no felonies, and 21 years old you can shoot hand guns. If your are 18 or older you can shoot long guns. If not you need to be accompanied by an adult. As far as archery don't think there is an age requirement. Just bring your ID and credit card and they'll take good care of you. Look online at up coming classes. And last but not be safe and have fun. Welcome to the wonderful world of weaponscraft.

- J.R. GALMISH (6 years ago)

Q: What are the qualifications to participate

A: Participate? Anyone able to own a gun can be a member but you don't have to be a member to shoot there or take lessons. I took both of my ar classes there and reccomend them. Great facility and teachers.

- Brian Gibson (6 years ago)

Q: Is steel case ammo allowed?

A: Only brass case ammo allowed.

- Will Carter (6 years ago)

A: No, you'll get a large fine if shot.

- Brian Gibson (6 years ago)

A: So I went today. They check the CORE of the BULLET not the casing. But steel case copper jackets stick to the magnet too. They let me use SST Horniday ammo with steel cases. Their 100 yard range is cool, definitely worth checking out if you never shot digital targets.

- Andrew Hudson (6 years ago)

A: Hell no! They are banned from all ranges because it bounces back and kills you. Stoddard range is better place to shoot in my opinion. Temple has a outside range. They might let you shoot metal rounds. You should call them to find out.

- FRED FLINSTONE (6 years ago)

A: Why would anyone want to shoot steel cased ammo? This will void the warranty on all quality firearms

Great indoor shooting range for both beginners and seasoned shooters, after I proved I was an experienced shooter to both the RSO's Mike and Mark, they let me shoot faster and test my limits, they have a great selection of firearms as well, Taylor and Chelsey helped lead me in the direction of a good Christmas present. They also have a bowling pin shoot that's an absolute joy to do!!!

We have stopped by twice this year and the customer service is horrendous. The first visit we had to wait at least 10 minutes to be helped. We waited over 10 minutes(12/7/2024) hoping for an employee to help us and it wasnΓÇÖt until we turned around to head towards the exit for an employee to ask us if we needed help. Due to the poor customer service, we will gladly go to another gun store to spend our money.

Ryan and the rest of the staff were awesome. Took the time to mount and sight my new red dot and answered all of my questions. Looks like they have a nice selection and very competitive prices on firearms as well.

After calling multiple locations searching for a Kimber, these guys were the most helpful. A few gun stores I called, it felt as if I were educating them on what I was after. Prices aren't terrible either. I've since ordered two guns from them. Pick up was fast & simple, everyone seemed helpful. So far, a positive experience. Will have to toy with the membership aspect once I get more free time.

I donΓÇÖt leave reviews often but felt I needed to. After reading previous reviews I was worried about the customer service, etc. this place was EXCELLENT. I went with a new gun, never having fired it, and never been to the range. Every single person was patient, helpful, kind, and just overall good humans. The facility is absolutely gorgeous and had an incredible time. IΓÇÖll definitely be back!

Mike, Mark, and David all helped me so well. Came in looking for Canik accessories and ended up in a good convo and insightful girearm advice. I recommend whether you are just shopping around or have questions, to come to the Governor's location in Hiram.

My husband and I came in to the Governors gun club And worked with the RSOΓÇÖs. We had no intentions on making a purchase today , but with Mark, we felt comfortable and walked away happy and satisfied. Looking to bring the rest of my family in to work specifically with Mark in the future thank you guys so much for all of your help.

I really want to like this place because it's so close to home, but each trip there is more and more frustrating. Most of the lanes aren't working. One morning we had to switch lanes 3 times before we got one that worked, and it took 25 minutes, and they counted that time against our range time. I'm shocked at the increasing amount of bullets holes in the glass partitions that separate each lane. I was in a lane that had a bullet hole at my head level, meaning at one point some clown in the next lane discharged his firearm towards where someone else was standing! It clearly states no rapid fire but half the people in there unload like they are John Wick, and nobody says a word. The wait times to get a lane are astronomical, and checking out is a lesson in futility. Waited 30 minutes just to pay, while an employee fiddled with an AR behind the counter clearly ignoring the customers with cash in hand, and a manager walked around chatting to people acting completely oblivious to the crowds waiting to get in and out. We finally asked if he could help and he gave us an attitude. This place could be a gold mine if anyone who worked there actually cared.

Horrible customer service. Walked in and told us to watch the safety video and sign the waver took about 15 minutes then Todd/tom said sorry we stop taking people at 7 and it was 7:03.explained to him we had just watched the video and signed the waver on their very slow iPad and he just didnΓÇÖt care. Maybe cause IΓÇÖm a minority

As a woman with no experience I was pleasantly surprised with the level of patience and support my small group recieved. Mark made the experience a lot less stressful and was there to help us at every step. I look forward to my return as I learn to handle firearms.

Negative experiences at this location seem to be the norm lately. If youΓÇÖd like to waste your time, go wait in line to shoot here. Waited an hour and fifteen minutes for a lane to open up, and ended up just leaving. Location has 20 lanes and decides to keep 5 open on a Sunday. Lobby full of people waiting to shoot and staff couldnΓÇÖt care less. Maybe enough people will stop spending their money here and this joke of a range will shut down.

I went with my son to shoot on their advertised 2 for Tuesdays this past week. For those that don't know this is a publically advertised special for buy one get one free on range fees. So we would just pay for one person on the lane instead of 2. On check out the attendant handed me the receipt that had charges for both me and my son. I brought this to his attention and he said "Oh, you have to ask for the special when you check into get it, otherwise we charge you normal price." I responded that these instructions are not posted on the website or posted at the counter how would someone know? He just shrugged and said it's policy. I'm really displeased with this behavior and honestly I'll just go elsewhere from now on...there's many places that are greatful for our business and not semi deceitful in their practices.

Other reviews are true. Spent 20 minutes in line to be treated rudely just for not being a member. Steve had a rude tone and now I am no longer considering a membership.

We had our wedding here and it was perfect. We had some family use the range before hand and they had fun also liked the ax throwing. The indoor and outdoor event space is perfect for any events. We had 50 people and there was lots of room for everyone. The coordinator and staff there are professional and friendly. Will be referring people here in the future. Mallory thank you and the team for a night we will remember forever.
