Q: whats the youngest age that can go there and shoot with there parent
A: Don't think there is a age limit. I would think as long as they can control a gun in a safe manner its okay.

Q: Is there anything I need to start? I would like to get my gun permit. What's the process?
A: In oder to get a permit, you should check with on of the gun local stores. Many run permit classes where you get your safety course and learn what to do next..

A: Okay great, I'll do that. Thank you so much!

Q: Full auto sub gun shooting?
A: Doubtful. I know of no public range in CT that allows full auto. Most don't even allow semi auto rapid fire.

Great place to shoot. I am a new shooter and am thankful for the friendly, helpful staff that is always on hand. Always willing to help or offer assistance. You can pretty much shoot wherever you'd like at the various ranges around the state, but it's the rso's and general good feeling about this place keep me coming back. Come shoot at the Rock, you won't be disappointed.

Was cheap, that was about it. If I could give it zero stars. Staff is amazingly ignorant and rude. Set one of my buddies away due to having a hard time signing in due to his dyslexia and not assisting signing him in. At the same time a father and son were going back to the car, the father asked if he could bring his stuff back to the car. The RO then "jokingly" stated that would aim at him if he attempted to drive off. You are an RO officer and are threatening to shoot someone due to not paying? Most of the RO's just yell and think they are big shots. All need a reality check and leave how to work and talk to people.

Getting to naugutuck state park and the entrance is difficult. The road is washed out certain areas. Once through gates a couple of large pot holes. The facility is small but well run. The volunteers of the association are helpful and professional. The price is excellent. $10 first hour $5 each one after. Bring your own paper targets. Bring your own bullets. No bathrooms. You can use long rifles, shotguns with slug only, pistols, revolvers. The bay areas are covered and if a colder day they usually have a fire going. Bring your own water. Def a must stop. Fun time.

Today I had a disappointing experience here. I normally bring my 15 year old to practice shooting his BB gun as we donΓÇÖt have a safe area to shoot. I want to teach him safety when handling any firearm weather it be real or not. All the other times I have come, the range officers are extremely helpful and nice and even the first time I came, they called the board to make sure itΓÇÖs was allowed which it is and is no problem at all. Today however, it seemed to be a huge problem and the officer who nicely greeted us wasnΓÇÖt sure and asked anotherΓÇÖs gentleman working. He remembered us from another time but immediately seemed annoyed we were there and questioned why we we come there to shoot it. He also rudely said to myself and my son that they would give us a spot but if even one bb came back at anyone that we would Be removed immediately. I am just shocked how rude and nasty he was. Instead of seeing that as a mother I want to I make sure my children are being safe, he decided it was better to shame us for coming there. I even told the nicer guy helping us that if anyoneΓÇÖs needs our spot to let me know and we would leave as my son is free to shoot for being under 16. After one round we left and cleaned our things. I felt like when were an inconvenience although we never bother anyone or cause an issue. I hope the range officers take into account that you actually cannot shoot BB guns anywhere like that range officer told us. ItΓÇÖs not safe and should not be encouraged. IΓÇÖm just disappointed he thought it was ok to treat us that way and make us feel that we came to the wrong place.

Beautiful location in the heart of Naugatuck State Forest. Not a country clubΓÇövery basic, small shooting pavilion run by a volunteer association. Volunteers are all well intentioned, but as with any group, individual skills and personalities vary. ThatΓÇÖs probably why I read so many widely differing comments here about the quality of interactions with staff. Keys to a good day at any range are a safety first mindset and patience. All in all, liked it so much I became a member.

I mean it's the only public shooting range that is close and cheap as hell. Some Staff are awesome while others are over bearing and newbies who tend to be acting like your daddy..makes it hard to focus on my shots and magazine reliability and training when I know someone is constantly breathing down my neck. Time between target switches can be over 30 minutes, so be prepared to wait a long time to change target and get shot feed back or just only use for one grouping then leave..def prefer indoor range. It's a good range for people who just want to shoot and pretend they are getting better but to actually train and improve your skills..this most definitely is not the place... UPDATE: went many months later and the range is still filled with old mall cops who pretend they were in the military or maybe they were but assume they were master of arms in the military. I CANT STAND THE PEOPLE AND PLACE. Just let us real professionals shoot and train, and maybe make something of yourself besides being a mall cop boys club to make you feel like you are sorta special.

I had a great time with my son here today. Great price. Really competent and respectful RSOs. Love the smaller, more friendly atmosphere. Will definitely come back. Downer: MY GPS said I had arrived at a closed gate. Entrance was 200 yards down the road. Obviously not the ranges error.

The volunteers need to be trained in social skills. This is a public range and safety is a must, communication is key, and this is where they need help. Rangers Come across rude, irogant. Rather than explaining or training the shooters, they dictate. Posted hours are not correct, website not current. Has potential, start by training the volunteers.

Good range but don't properly post or communicate their open hours. On a few occasions I've gone there to find it closed. Listen to their voicemail today January 10th and the recording is from October.

UPDATE: went back to this shooting range and unfortunately nothing has changed, If you are new to shooting this place will work for you, but if you are a seasoned gun owner it is not worth the low dollar to shoot at this range. Unnessesary rules and power hungry range officers make this shooting range intolerable. There should be rules at a range, agreed, but when a man grabs MY gun out of my hands as I was putting it away and said "your handling it wrong" when it was unloading and action clearly open is a huge red flag to me. Such a shame to have a great location mixed with low quality staff.
