Highlands Sporting Clays

Q: Where can you stay if coming from out of the area?
A: The resort is in Somerset, PA, there are several hotels there. 7 Springs resort is next to the Highlands, but to my knowledge their hotel is very old and over due for a remodel, perhaps you can find a house for rent as an air b&b at Hidden Valley or 7 Springs

Guide was not good at all, offering very little useful instruction and made rude comments. Also, they put you on the spot at the end to provide a sizable gratuity for the guide. Just not a good experience. And, to top things off, the restaurant food was awful.

We had fun shooting here but this course isn't what is used to be, looks a lot like the mars wasteland, great trapper and nice staff.

Had a great first time experience shooting clays with a shotgun. Provided my friends and me with nice caddies to drive around and our assistant trapper was the most patient nice guy who taught us well. Highly recommended!

We were staying for the Thanksgiving holiday and I decided to add Clay shooting to our trip. I must say it was probably the best decision IΓÇÖve made in years. I wish I could honestly remember the name of the guides we had but both were phenomenal. They made everyone feel at home, and we had the most phenomenal time of our lives. Everybody left With a huge smile.

Nice people and guides. Great instruction and equipment. They also seem to care about the forest and the animal creatures there, which is wonderful

Had a great time here for a bachelor party, nice stations with bathrooms and cold water along the way. Andrew was absolutely awesome, really cool guy that knows his stuff and gives good tips but doesnΓÇÖt act like an arrogant weiner about it. Expensive if you donΓÇÖt have your own stuff ($200) but still a fun group activity.

I was here recently for the BOMA sporting clays shoot and i must say that it was a delightful experience. The trappers were all awesome and friendly and each station unique and challenging. I would 10/10 return for personal shoot.

We came to a shooting fundraiser for Noah's Hope and got the perfect combination of good weather, good company, a good cause and a good time. The staff was friendly and helpful, while the sporting clay stations were challenging. We shot at the upper course, which we found very challenging and varied as far as the different combination of skills necessary to muster up a good score. Their expertise is obvious. This is a professional outfit for sure! Would love to come back again next year.

Great place to shoot. If you think it's expensive lol. The guns cost thousands and the ammo is super expensive now too. Had dinner there too Prime rib sandwich for 18 bucks. Expensive? No! I literally had a pound of prime rib on my sub roll plus fries. How do they even make a profit?? It was good too! Great time?

A little pricey if you donΓÇÖt have your Own shotgun but fun and worthwhile. We paid 70/person for guide, clays, shotgun, and 25 shots each 12 gauge. Lots of course stops with varying levels of difficulty from somewhat easy to very hard. They took us Around in golf carts. Frank was our guide, super nice and helpful in tips for the new shooters in the group. Shotgun- 12 gauge over under worked like a champ they clearly take good care of their guns. Was great as part of a bachelor party weekend.

Nice location, nice course, really didn't appreciate our guide telling me to "take up tennis" at the end. Don't care if he was joking or not. Only second time ever try this sport, I know I struggled and didn't do well, why be a jerk? I would NOT recommend this for someone who is new to the sport.

First time shooting clays. Was there for a company event. The staff member with us was very patient and taught us everything we need to know about how to enjoy shooting clays and having fun. Found a new fun hobby and anytime IΓÇÖm back in the area IΓÇÖll be sure to do this again!

Excellent location and the people there are so fantastic. We had a clay shoot for charity, and they worked with us the whole time. Priced very well, and helped us with our out of town participants as well. Our after event lunch was really tasty. The inside of the venue is cozy which was perfect for our rainy cool day of shooting.

I would like to respond to a negative post by Jeff Tomlinson (who gave the facility one star and wanted to give it a zero). My son and I have been members since the facility opened. I could't disagree more with the claim that there is "absolutely no gun safety." The writer took issue with his trapper telling them "We don't use safetys here." This is standard practice in sporting clays. The rule is that the muzzle of the gun must be over the rail of the stand before the gun is loaded. This ensures that a loaded gun is ALWAYS in a safe position. Trappers are expected to enforce gun safety in a polite but firm manner. In my experience they do this well and consistently. Regarding loading traps while shooters were active: if this actually happened, it is an egregious breach of procedure that I have never observed in all my years shooting at Seven Springs. Director Mike Mohr runs an exceptional facility and demands the highest level of professionalism and hospitality from all of his employees. Don't take my word for it. See for yourself.
