Hill Country Shooting Sports Center

Q: What's the maximum range for rifles?
A: 100 yards on a daily basis. We do have a 500-yard range. However, it is not open every day. Once a release is signed, monthly emails are sent to inform customers of our schedule.

Q: This range is for rifles and pistols too - correct ? Do they provide targets ?
A: We have rifle and pistol ranges open daily as well as skeet and trap.
- Hill Country Shooting Sports Center (11 months ago)
A: Yes they have rifle and pistol ranges. They offer cardboard target backers and sell several different targets. They also offer skeet and trap shooting.
- Gregory Gibson (5 years ago)
Q: Do we have to supply our own guns
A: Yes typically you do. There are a few that can be rented but are very limited. You need to bring ammo with you as they don't typically have ammo for sale either.
- Gregory Gibson (6 years ago)
Q: What days are the 500yd range open?
A: It is open one weekend per month. We send a newsletter with that information at the first of each month.
- Hill Country Shooting Sports Center (2 months ago)
Q: -just a quick question, are children allowed to shoot with a guardian?
A: 100%!! We want kids to learn the safe use of firearms.
- Hill Country Shooting Sports Center (10 months ago)
Q: Do you offer classes?
A: Yes, ma'am. We have instructors for all disciplines.
- Hill Country Shooting Sports Center (a year ago)
Q: What is the age limit, can I bring my grandson to watch and teach him some gun safety?
A: No minimum age. All children must be under adult supervision whether shooting or not shooting.
- KVBOB (a year ago)
Q: I see a question about membership. Is there a daily fee? What is a membership fee?
A: William, Daniel is correct on the daily fee. I would add that the daily fee covers both the rifle and pistol. Membership is not required. If you use the range quit a bit, It may make sense as this reduces your daily fee to $6.75.
- Hill Country Shooting Sports Center (2 years ago)
A: I don't know the membership fee but the daily fee is 10 dollars
- Daniel Vasquez (2 years ago)
Q: Do they offer handgun rentals?
A: Nope
- John (3 years ago)
Q: My son is coming for a visit. If 3 of us want to come, do we need protection stuff--ear and eye? Only have 1 set of these.
A: When I went there for my license, they were able to supply us with eye and ear protection.
- The King In Yellow (5 years ago)
A: Yes you need eyes and ear protection. Foam ear protection is suitable and maybe available at the office. I'm not sure about the availability of eye protection.

I took my kids here over winter break to sight in and adjust settings on our hunting rifles. The staff is very friendly and helpful as well. For under $100 I paid for an annual membership, which gives me access to everything they offer. I was also pleased to see that every range had an RSO, which gave me peace of mind when sitting on the firing line.

Very friendly and helpful staff. We only used the 100 yard rifle range and it was very nice. The range officer kept everyone safe and was very knowledgeable. Bathrooms were clean and accessible.

Nice people from the office staff to range staff. You can buy targets here and soft drinks. The range also has some blocks for resting the rifles and the stands you get are perfectly setup for your targets.

Not the best experience with a range, a range master was constantly on me and my friends about rapid fire when we were just firing one person after another at a slow pace, not only that but another range master was forcing us to shoot with a target when we were just wanting to try out new firearms, like their shotgun rule we were shooting without targets to not damage their equipment, and just have fun but I guess not.

I was there on Wednesday and Sunday and it was excellent. The Range Safety Officers on both days were knowledgeable, helpful and courteous. I will definitely be back.

This is hands down the most poorly managed range in Texas maybe in the United States. The owner is lazy, rude and cheap. ItΓÇÖs a shame, the terrain and facilities have so much potential but because of poor management the facilities are worn out and in various states of disrepair, there are constant malfunctions and machines run out of targets frequently. All of which are easily avoidable by just doing the bare minimum. The owner only gives the exact amount of targets to shoot a round of skeet or trap, so any show pairs, malfunctions or broken targets come out of your round and you have to add another full round to finish. I understand running any business has itΓÇÖs challenges and running a shooting range is no different but this is just laziness. I hate to leave a bad review on any business especially one that is related to shooting sports or the shooting industry, but the owner of this range needs a wake up call or he needs to sell it to someone who will give this range the love and care it deserves. Having facilities where people can come and shoot their firearms and train with them is critical to keeping the second amendment strong. Ranges and owners like this leave a bad taste in the mouth of new gun owners and seasoned gun owners like myself. I wonΓÇÖt be back until I hear news of new ownership, if that day never comes IΓÇÖll take the time to drive to the National Shooting Complex in San Antonio or Copperhead Creek in Marble Falls. Both ranges keep their equipment running, are well managed and well kept.

I saw a couple poor reviews about the service/staff, and I couldnΓÇÖt disagree more. Best service at a shooting range hands down. Everyone was super helpful and accommodating! The staff took the time to make sure we were comfortable with the equipment. We had a party of 6 and shot for about 2.5 hours. The skeet and trap shooting is one of the best in the area. My only gripe would be their website. While it provides decent info it seems to be old, outdated, and slow. I would highly recommend spending some time a hill country shooting.

Nice ranges, good range masters, good prices. Once you're on the property it's better for trucks, SUVs and other larger vehicles. Low cars be careful.

Visited Hill Country Shooting Center to break up a long weekend in Fredericksburg. The gentleman who was working that day was so generous with his time ΓÇö he even helped me get comfortable with my new Benelli. Great prices, pretty area, not too crowded in the AM. Next time IΓÇÖm in the area, IΓÇÖll definitely be back!

Not really busy but it needs to be cleaned up & organized. When you arrive it's unclear where to go or what to do. Just needs a refresh of the grounds & buildings.

Nice affordable place to shoot. It is outdoors and wish it was more climate controlled. But either way a safe, friendly and clean place to shoot.

Disrespectful Range master touching my rifles and lording over me while I was ask my scope. I was in complete complicity the range rules but because i asked him to not pick up my guns, he decided to be a jerk. The person who takes the payments, was also a jerk. Truth: anyone who has been here realizes that this range is setup like a hillbillies back yard with range masters that act like they are part time navy seals but truthfully he used to work at Walmart in the produce section. And thatΓÇÖs ok, but act your experience.

I've known the owner for several years and I have to agree with the 1 star rating by Danny. Actually I don't think this place is worth one star. The owner, as Danny says, has an extremely condescending pompous attitude. One wonders if they are causing them hardship by being a customer. I will not go back. I suspicion that many of the 5 star reviews found here are totally bogus from parties who have no knowledge of the place. In particular I refer to the multiple reviews that contain no comment. Something doesn't smell right with those reviews.
