Hite Hollow Rifle Range

Q: Is this currently open?
A: No. They close it January thru May 1st. We just tried to go there the other day 😣

Q: are there shooting targets or do you have to bring your own
A: bring your own --and some rope in case the line is down,. something to hold the target on the line, and target black & white target paste circles. something to drink and a rifle cleaning kit are good too. This is a reasonable furnished state park property for pistols and rifle ranges.

Love this range, not long enough for some of my firearms but long enough for a fun day. I can also get some pistol practice in. So far all the fellow shooters I have meet on site have been pleasant and helpful. Road in can be a little rough but that's why I have 4WD. Please clean up after yourselves if you pack it in pack it out, it's too nice of a place to be turned into a dump. Let's continue keep this a nice place so donate what you can, if you have the cash for the firearms and ammo you can toss a few bucks in the can.

Great spot. Needs a broom and pan for us to sweep our own brass and keep it clean. But love the place.

Awesome little FREE shooting range in Craigsville, VA about a half hour outside of Staunton, VA. Bring your own targets, snacks & water. Subscribe to @ArmedCivilianVA on YouTube for some video footage of the range.

They need to fix the website. The internet says open but clearly it's closed. Really don't understand why it can't open April 1st.

Nice shooting range. Leave a few dollars! However, I went to insert money and wasps came boiling out! Sent me running but no stings. Still fast on my feet. Lol

Kind of in need of a face-lift. That they are only open in the ┬░110 degree, mosquito infested hellscape that summer is these days, Kind of bums me out.

Great range experience here today. Plenty of open tables but keep in mind itΓÇÖs first come first served. Pistol range there too. Bring cardboard and zip ties or duct tape to mount it on steel poles. Fellow rangegoer spotted us some cardboard.

They're closed from January to May first. Would be nice if it were posted somewhere for people to see and know before they drive 30 minites there.

Very nice place to go for some ΓÇ£lead therapyΓÇ¥. Please respect this range. It is very disappointing to see where others have shot up the trash cans and the awnings. Also, This range is not considered FREE. You are expected to ΓÇ£pay what you canΓÇ¥. If one can afford the firearms and ammunition then one can afford to support this range with some cash donations each time. Also, clean up after yourselves. Looks like a bunch of slobs that ΓÇ£just donΓÇÖt careΓÇ¥ come here. Leave it like no oneΓÇÖs been there. I make it a point to pick up a little trash even if it wasnΓÇÖt mine every time i come here.

Range is pretty nice. Someone needs to update this page to say closed Jan 1- May 1st. It really sucks for people that drive a decent distance to find out it closed. Not exactly sure why either though they someone said fire season but that doesnΓÇÖt really make since this time of year.

Outstanding for an outdoor public range fueled by donations, and I donΓÇÖt mean that in a sarcastic way. I had a great time shooting on the pistol range. The gentleman in charge of the range is professional and courteous. The people there were friendly and safe. I wish there were more ranges like this in the central Virginia area.

We really liked this range. You have a little more freedom of movement without square little boxes to squeeze into. YouΓÇÖve got a longer distance to shoot, and you have a pistol range. There were a number of people there when we showed up, but very polite and careful.
