Decent inexpensive range with indoor pistol, 25 yard outdoor pistol and 100 yard rifle range. Grounds are owned by PWD. If you need to contact someone there, call on Sundays between 9 -12pm. That's about the only time you will get info.

The only outdoor range in the area. Shotgun and rifle ranges are both open again since Nov 2024. Members and members' guests only; memberships and orientations are open 9am-noon Sundays. However, weekday evening Bullseye Pistol matches (held when in season) and Sunday morning matches are open to the general public. This is a target & hunting sportsman's club, not a general shooting range being run as a for-profit business, so don't expect to have your preferences catered to just because you're paying a fee. This is reflected in the relatively stringent safety rules which are mostly targeted towards use for precision shooting sports and sighting-in for hunters. Hopefully everyone understands that Philly is not the most friendly jurisdiction for a shooting range to operate in, and due to the city owning the land, the club only continues to exist if it stays in the good graces of the city. The strict rules are intended to keep things that way as it has been for almost 100 years. If you're looking to rapid fire or practice Steel Challenge and the like, you will find a better experience in the indoor ranges in the city or further outside Philly. But if you want to pursue the traditional shooting sports then there are few better places in the northeast.

good outdoor range. rifles currently closed. they do need to loosen up on mag restrictions and ballistic gel shoots would be cool

Great place, only outdoor shooting range in the city. Bring all your own equipment. Membership required. Well worth the low fee. Cool clubhouse. Monthly meetings

Definitely a great place to visit. The staff are friendly and helpful. Especially my buddy Gary. He is always there willing to help and answer questions if needed.

Holmesburg Fish and Game is a great place to go to enjoy the art of shooting. It has three ranges. Membership is 100 dollars a year. It is a great place to socialize and make friends.

It's a good environment for both beginners and veteran shooters. They keep it well maintained and members are a great bunch of guys very knowledgeable always willing to help whether it's info or help sighting guns always done with the appropriate safety measures.

Great place to practice or shoot just for fun! Filled with people who share a common love for hunting,fishing and target shooting! I've been a member for 1 year now and have always had a great experience while at the range. Always someone there with helpful advice and safety is CARDINAL rule #1. Which is fine with me.

If I had to use a single word to describe our experience with H.F.&G.P.A. it would be WOW. This association and it's members went above and beyond for us today. From the way we were greeted and welcomed at the clubhouse by other association members and Board members/ training coordinators, to the way they put safety of all person's (and wildlife that occasionally enters the ranges) at the absolute TOP of their priorities, to the orientation they asked that we attend as a condition of membership, the abundance of competitive matches and classes they offer, to the several different ranges available... this place is 100% worth looking into. They're primarily a competitive shooting type range, you shoot at 25yds for pistol on most instances- but with permission from RSO's they can accommodate for closer target practice. They even have an archery program, and do fishing outings! They run a Junior rifle program for children between 12-18 too! Following the orientation class (about 2 hrs where they really emphasize safety being of the utmost importance) they give you a guided tour of the facilities, followed by a 10 shot qualification shoot on the pistol range. Don't worry about being the fastest, take your time and get 10 shots on paper. If you need assistance during this time, THEY'RE NOT JUDGEMENTAL, they'll be there to help you. If you don't do so great, don't worry... they offer several different classes from handgun basics, to advanced courses. If you're worried about being looked down on for not being as experienced as others, toss that thought right out the window: my mother is scared of handguns and was very nervous during her qualifying time. The RSO's worked with her to ensure that she was safe and accurate. The officers recommended that she takes a class or two in order to gain more experience and confidence in herself. Never during the visit, or their direct interaction with her did they make her feel as if she wasn't good enough for the range. That's something I have a lot of respect for. Other members are more than welcoming and willing to help you get the most out of your time and learning curve as well. All in all, I give Holmesburg Fish and Game Protection Association 5/5 stars, and a very big thank you for all they do in the community.

Courteous but strange crowd. If you're a "precision" shooter and need to zero in frequently at 100yds., you might like the place. If your only interested in getting range practice time in, you'll be very disappointed. I understand the safety concerns, but maybe they can invest in a better setup? Brass all over the ground, some pressed into the dirt from sitting there for obviously months. No fast shooting, no more than 5 shots at a time, crazy pricing scheme, sometimes long waits on the firing line while 4 guys stare at a target for 10-15 min pointing at the holes. I prefer a good indoor range. No 100yds., but I can double tap, fast fire, practice mag reloads, and a machine moves my target, so no stopping.
