Hot Brass Firearm & Bow Range

Q: Do I need a permit if I just want to shoot for practice or fun?
A: Unfortunately at this range they require it. They also do not allow you to shoot with a friend. Since you can shoot legally under the supervision of anyone with an LTC basically under their license. They also prohibit children without licenses from shooting under their parents license. This is 100% a personal preference of the range and has nothing to do with legal or insurance.

Was invited to go shooting at this range by a friend and I was excited, as I just purchased my first gun the day before. But my experience was completely ruined by the older mustached RSO that was there. DidnΓÇÖt catch his name cause I was upset from how I was treated. He started off by yelling at me cause I didnΓÇÖt staple the target right! He kept belittling me and treating me like a drill sergeant! Picture the movie full metal jacket, and IΓÇÖm private piles. ThatΓÇÖs how it was! Constantly picking on me cause I didnΓÇÖt know how to fully use the new gun, and falsely accusing me of damaging the target holder, which already had scuff marks when I got there. Was it the fact that IΓÇÖm a Spanish guy and covered in tattoos? At least thatΓÇÖs how it felt. Little does he know that IΓÇÖm a tattoo artist. I donΓÇÖt know how I feel about this place now. If he wasnΓÇÖt there, then I probably wouldΓÇÖve had a better experience.

What a experience at the Hot Brass shooting range.. It was great all around,, the people in the front desk, the place, and of course our instructor Rob. He was amazing, very knowledgeable and professional. Focused on safety, great instruction and fun. I brought my nephew from Spain to the range, and we both agree that it was an amazing experience. I will do it again and I will bring my wife next time. I think I'm hooked. Love it!!

Great environment, great staff. I am terrible with names, but Anthony is my go to guy always on top of everything, even when he is the only one at the front desk. They say multitasking is impractical, but Anthony has it mastered!

IΓÇÖve been going to this place for years!! Unfortunately itΓÇÖs not as good as it used to be!! I got there at 7.08 and they didnΓÇÖt want to let me shoot because the kid said oh we close at 8pm! If youΓÇÖre not a member you canΓÇÖt buy a lane after 7pm!! I live in Windsor, ct and drove all the way there just to have a kid who wants to close and go home early telling me I canΓÇÖt shoot!

I am a member at Hot Brass and went there tonight with my daughter who was only watching because she only has her FID but when the manager, Rob asked my daughter if she has her FID and he taught her how to fire a 22 rifle tonight on his own time. They all are a great group of people there. Super friendly and helpful. I started going there not knowing much about guns and aiming and they have helped me more than I can say. Highly recommend to anyone looking for a safe and friendly firing range to look into Hot Brass. You wonΓÇÖt be disappointed.

The range itself is fantastic, but itΓÇÖs the employees that really make Hot Brass stand out. Big shout out to Nate, who is super knowledgeable, helpful, and friendly, IΓÇÖve learned a lot from him and always look forward to seeing him. The RSOs are all exceptional, very friendly and always willing to help. ItΓÇÖs a real privilege to be a member here!

This is a fantastic company. The instructor was very knowledgeable and left us with the confidence needed to safely own a firearm. Bow range is an added bonus.

The range itself is not bad, however, I’m not big on the staff - particularly the range safety officers. While I fully support having range safety officers for everyone’s safety and liability, I’ve had a lot of negative experiences with different RSOs here. Some try talking to you the entire time when you’re just trying do your thing. Tonight, my friend and I went and Gary was the RSO. Gary sat on a stool approximately two feet away from us and was practically breathing down our necks the entire time. He also warned us “not to shoot the top left corner,” when the target was hung below the line and no shots were going off paper… Again, to reiterate, I see the need for RSOs, but there is no need for them to be all up in your space at all times unless someone isn’t being safe. Because this has been the theme on several occasions, I will be looking for other ranges / clubs to join.

IΓÇÖve been to a few shooting ranges, and this one tops all of them. The employees here are great, the range officers take the time to help you understand your gun and how to shoot it accurately. They will teach you how to hold your gun, and how to position your body to be able to handle the recoil of your gun. I really can only say good things about this place. I have a membership and pay about $30/month and can go practice shooting anytime I want. Definitely would recommend this place to anyone looking for target practice.

Overall, I had great experience. Staff is kind and professional, took time to notice help, and guidance was needed without asking .gave good step by step instructions of proper form for accuracy. The only issue is ammo price is an arm about 5 bucks more than average cost anywhere else .

Had an awesome time shooting at Hot Brass today. No membership needed. Try whatever you want for 10 bucks+ ammo as long as you have an LTC. Staff was customer friendly and went out of there way to offer pointers.

This place is great! This was our first stop for a bachelor party and it was exactly what we were hoping for. I came in with zero gun experience and the instructor took the time to make sure we knew everything there was to know about the guns we were shooting, and that we were prepared and comfortable to shoot some of the higher powered guns. Staff was super knowledgeable and friendly, and they had great suggestions on which guns we should try out. I'll definitely be back for the range and any future firearms purchases. Thanks Hot Brass! 10/10 Γ¡É - would definitely recommend!

Recently got my license and was looking for a range. I found Hot Brass, which was only about 15 minutes from where I live. This was all new to me and when I went into the range (very nice building, by the way), everyone I spoke with was very helpful and guided me through the process. Brett, instructor, was awesome to work with. Made me feel comfortable in the range and watched my shooting and gave me tips. Good guy. Cody, behind the counter, processed me (paperwork, guidance) prior to going into the range. Nice guy, very helpful. Had a discussion with Arlo about different types of ammunition. He was very knowledgeable. I had a question about a charge that appeared on my bank statement and left a message late in the day for the accounting department. I got a call back the next day from Cheryl. She was wonderful. Very helpful. I enjoyed speaking with her and she had a cheerful attitude and you could tell she enjoys working with people. Overall experience with Hot Brass has been excellent. I'll keep on comin'. Howard S.
