Questions & Answers

Q: A couple yrs ago the RSO said they were checking into building covers for the stations, are they still checking into this or has it been done?

A: IN DNR is working to update JP's range. There will be covered shooting stations. Check in with the property in the spring of 2025!

Q: What is the price?

A: There are no entrance fees. Federal funding & a small amount of State funding are used to run this range. Bring your own paper targets and either tape, push pins, or a staple gun to mount your target to cardboard (for the 10, 15, 25, 50, 100 & 200 yd ranges)

Q: Do you have to book a slot at the range ?

A: J-Ps firearm range is open: **Wed-Sun .... (closed every Mon, Tues, New Year's Day, Thanksgiving Day & Christmas Day) & THE HOURS ARE: CT: 8am-4pm / ET: 9am-5pm *NOTE: final CEASE FIRE is called 15 minutes prior to close. ......... ** Don't forget your cardboard to mount your paper targets.... About a 2' x 2' piece of cardboard should work. ... **Days of operation differ in Jan/Feb (FRI - SUN only)

- Cameron W. (5 years ago)

Q: Is Jasper- pulaski open in the winter months

A: Assuming you're referring to their shooting range - it used to be open year-round. All the gun ranges managed by the state DNR now have winter hours in January & February. You can pick up a flyer with hours every time you sign in. They're only open Friday, Saturday & Sunday in Jan & Feb. Hours of operation stayed the same. If you mean Jasper Pulaski's 8,000+ acres of hunting land, that's different. The property itself, the office & the archery range is open year round

- Jo Bu (5 years ago)

- Ben Chin (6 years ago)

A: No minimum or maximum age as long as those under 18 are always under "direct supervision" of an adult, age 18 or above

- E LeRose (2 years ago)

- BIGG TIGGAH (3 years ago)

The need to stop allowing Illinois people at our ranges!…too much bs with them people and build some awnings PLEASE it’s way too hot under that sun out there with no shade Worse of all,,,,the jack legs they hire as range officers!..had one messing with me the entire time, even got in my face!…I told him to back several times!…it was during Covid….not cool. At the 200 yrd range I went all the way down to put up a target,I HAD A MORON WITH ILLINOIS PLATES SHOOTING DOWN RANGE MY WAY THE ENTIRE 200 YARDS BACK!!!!!….I WAS LIVID!!!…I got the range officer that day and he just told the guy not to do that!..,, Didn’t even throw him out!!! I couldn’t believe it

Unsafe. Range safety officers are mostly inert. A majority of shooters do not practice good muzzle discipline and will point firearms sideways down the shooting positions when loading and unloading. They also handle weapons during ceasefires while people are down range attending to targets. It's the biggest bunch of unsafe losers I've come across in a long time. Avoid this place if you don't like the idea of getting shot by a negligent fool.

Absolutely amazing range, RSO was extremely polite and answered any questions we had. Range itself was super clean, and the setup was super easy. Definitely recommend this range as it's one of the best I've personally been to!

If you don't like the JP range you're probably an unsafe shooter! The old guy in the truck is awesome! Made me feel completely welcomed and safe!

Great place to go shooting for free. ~20 yard pistol range, shotgun range, and rifle ranges of 50, 100, and 200 yards. It would be great if it was closer to my house, but you can't have everything .
