Questions & Answers

Q: How much to use the lane and rent a gun but whatΓÇÖs the age limit

A: Age limit is 12 price of renting a lane is in the website but I canΓÇÖt remember off the top of my head

Q: My gf and I would like to come and rent some guns and shoot . Neither one of us have ever shot a gun before . What do we need to do to be able to shoot at targets ?

A: Mark is on point. I believe that you will both need a current identification. Not 100% what forms are acceptable. Drivers Driver's license always work. They have ammo and targets on site that can be purchased. I believe they have you use the ammo they sell(which is at a reasonable/ competitive price). Basic targets are cheap, however they do have some fun zombie targets or fancier ones at a higher cost. The range also does have a range warden that can assist with basic gun safety practices, but like mark said it would be advisable to take a firearm into class to understand mechanics. Definitely recommend this location they have a great selection and staff is very knowledgeable.

- Dustin Smith (5 years ago)

A: Dustin is pretty spot on for his answer regarding Keystone. We only require you to purchase our ammo if you rent one of our firearms. A class or 1 on 1 or 1 on 2 instruction is also available. If you come at an off peak time and have never shot the Range Safety Officer will certainly assist you and help you out as that is what they are there for. Shooting is an enjoyable fullfilling sport and useful in todays world to be knowledgable and safe. Hope to see you on the range soon. KSC Management

A: Thank you everyone for your time and information.

A: I would definitely recommend taking a class! Neither of you want to get hurt. Not that guns are that dangerous, but they can seem somewhat complicated to a newbie. The instructors at Keystone are the best you can hope to find. Former military and law enforcement...but very polite, gentlemanly, and patient. The classes are not that expensive considering that you're handling a piece of equipment that can seriously injure or kill. I personally have instructed many new people on handling guns...and they are very glad I did...I caught some of them just before they hurt themselves. Once you learn the basics....it's a REALLY fun time! Everyone has a great time shooting! I totally agree with Dustin and Mark as to the specifics.

- Shawn Morris (5 years ago)

A: Go to them tell them this. There is an on line waiver you have to fill out that's good for a year they rent guns so that isnt a problem. Also I recomend doing a firearm intro class. They do it there check their scedual about it.

- mark hoag (5 years ago)

Q: Can you test the firearms before purchase?

A: Yes. The rental cost will be waived if you purchase the weapon. If you want to test 2 or 3 and compare them, the rental cost will be waived for all if you buy one of them.

- benjamin plazek (4 years ago)

A: Yes. Thier new policy is only the one you buy is waived

- yehuda shomer (4 years ago)

Q: Can I shoot at this location?

A: Hi Caroline, This location is our Corporate Office. For all of your firearms needs including indoor range, retail, and training, please visit our 925 Sheraton Drive Mars, Pa location just north of Pittsburgh. Thank You!

A: You can but itΓÇÖs gonna piss off the neighbors

- Matthew Wicinski (3 years ago)

Q: has anyone taken the situational comprehension class? if so, was it worth it and did you learn how to defend yourself?

A: Hi Christina, Many people take the Situational Comprehension class. It takes people through various situations that could be dangerous and teaches them to recognize them prior to getting into the situation. It also shows them how to avoid those situations. It is not however a self defense class. Hope this helps clarify. Thank you, Keystone Shooting Center

Q: How old do you have to be to work there ?

A: 18 years old but you can't buy a pistol at that age. Ty Eggemeyer

Q: Any restrictions on picking up your own brass as long as it's behind the firing line? I load odd calibers and brass is quite expensive.

A: As long as the brass falls behind the firing line you may pick it up. It's your brass! Thanks!

Q: Me and the wife went in today to sell a gun , gun isn't even a year old ,hit us with low price we took it ,he did paperwork put in computer, said I'll be back with check, said we changed our mind don't want it ,don't go there .

A: Not sure why this is posted as a question to be answered lol. If you're only experienced with them is trying to sell a gun, I don't think it's fair for you to recommend other people don't go there for any reason whatsoever. I like their lanes and their staff. But you do you

- Robb Ryniak (8 months ago)

Q: I see your open on Sundays 10am-6pm...is that true? And can you do a firearm transfer there?

A: Hi Bill, We are open 10am until 6pm on Sunday and you can do private transfers here. I believe I spoke with you earlier this morning? Thank you for reaching out to us. Thank you, Tom R Keystone Shooting Center

- Keystone Shooting Center (a year ago)

Q: Can you bring your own gun

A: Hi Eric, Yes, you can bring your own firearm. If you bring your own firearm, you can bring your own ammo or buy it here. If you rent a firearm from us, then you have to buy our ammo. Thank you, Tom R Keystone Shooting Center

Don't buy online from this place. I ordered a store pickup and they couldn't even go in the back to get it for me 4 days after ordering. Not a place to do buisness with when something so simple isn't possible. The complex will be impossible. Id recommend any other gun shop and I frequent all the big ones.

My daughter and I came here for a shooting session. WeΓÇÖve been to other ranges in our old town but this was our first time here. The evening started out great as the young man helping us at the counter was very nice and courteous. Trouble started at the range. My daughter and I were in two adjacent lanes and at one time I took one of my unloaded guns from my lane to my daughterΓÇÖs lane for her to try it out. The person that was working there, Ed as I learned later, then started yelling at me for being unsafe and not following the rule and kept on lecturing very loudly. This was not our first shooting experience, and we had many sessions at our old range before moving here. And this range rule was new to us. And actually Ed, first of all, never greeted us when we entered the shooting lanes, also never explained to us what the lane rules were. Safety in the gun range is very important and we understand it. But my mistake could been pointed out and the rule stated much more respectfully. It was just one mistake. I apologized but Ed was still standing in my booth lecturing me about the rules. Finally I decided to put one of my completely empty gun from the shooting table down to my bag - still in my booth - and grabbed it. ThatΓÇÖs when he shouted on top of his lungs not to touch my gun and went on to tell me how he told me not to touch my gun. I mean screaming at me loudly right in front of my daughter. I just couldnΓÇÖt believe that an employee could be this rude. I told him that IΓÇÖm just putting my gun to my bag and he told me ΓÇö screaming at this point, that he just told me not to touch my gun. I just didnΓÇÖt know what to do at this point. This was an awful experience. My daughter gave me the Keystone gift card for X-mas, so I wanted to try the place out, but I certainly wonΓÇÖt come back here with this kind of experience.

Went in today to pick up a rifle. Owner was knowledgable, staff was friendly and helpful. They special ordered the item I needed and made me feel like a valued customer. 10/10, will recommend this place to all my friends. I plan to come back here to take some friends shooting at their amazing range.

My second visit to Keystone. Love the facility, great staff (most of them), and reasonable prices. Took my best friend, my son, my granddaughter, and my son-in-law for their first visit. Everything was great until we entered the range. Immediately one of the range employees (older one) began very unprofessionally berating us for setting our guns, in cases, down in the wrong place. The unprofessionallism continued throughout our range time. I am 100% for safety, especially with my 12 year old granddaughter there, but there is a better way to talk to people. We have all been around guns our entire lives and are very careful with them. That being said, I understand correcting people when needed. Even the other employee seemed to apologize to my son-in-law for what was going on. This was not right and I didn't appreciate it in front of my granddaughter. I hope if someone reads this that you consider some additional training on professionalism or address this individual because I see other similar reviews. Not sure we will be back.

Had an issue with a range officer there, they went more than out of their way to fix the issue at hand and it was handled extremely professionally, itΓÇÖs not very often you see companies that actually care anymore so itΓÇÖs nice to see keystone is one of them.

Not a first time gun owner but a rookie on all accounts, walking into this place can be a bit intimidating. Luckily I quickly met Andrea, and was able to get the direction I needed to narrow a few purchases down. Friendly, Knowledgable, and willing to go the extra mile is how I would describe my experience at Keystone. Andrea even helped an out of state friend track down a few items he was unable to find locally. I canΓÇÖt recommend Keystone enough if you are thinking about buying your first gun, or looking for the special piece for the collection you canΓÇÖt seem to track down. No review would be complete without mentioning the ranges which like the rest of the store are top notch. Make sure you ask for Andrea when you stop by.

Good range, usually has a spot open and isnt too expensive for an hour. HVAC has gotten squeaky recently, but the gunfire covers it well!

Disappointed with My First Visit to Keystone Shooting Range I was very excited to visit Keystone Shooting Range for the first time today. As someone new to shooting, I was looking forward to a great experience, especially since IΓÇÖve heard so much about the place. Unfortunately, my experience was far from what I expected. The visit started off wellΓÇöthe person at the reception was friendly and explained the basics to us. However, things took a turn once we began shooting. My friend and I are first-timers, and while I completely understand that public safety is of utmost importance, the staffΓÇÖs approach to enforcing rules was unnecessarily rude and condescending. ItΓÇÖs one thing to correct someone for safety purposes, but itΓÇÖs entirely another to treat paying customers with disrespect. A staff member made a dismissive comment that felt judgmental and uncalled for, saying something along the lines of, ΓÇ£ItΓÇÖs so dangerous,ΓÇ¥ when asked about ammunition. This came off as unprofessional and made me feel unwelcome. Everyone makes mistakes, especially beginners. A little patience and guidance would have gone a long way in making us feel comfortable and ensuring we wanted to return. Unfortunately, the attitude of the staff turned what should have been an exciting experience into a disappointing one. If Keystone Shooting Range wants to encourage newcomers, they need to work on their customer service and train their staff to correct mistakes respectfully. First impressions matter, and sadly, mine was not a good one.

I recently visited this gun range with my girlfriend to enjoy some time at the range and help her purchase her first gun. Unfortunately, our experience was ruined by the behavior of one staff memberΓÇöthe security guy inside the lanes. (TRUTH LANE 2) After about an hour and a half of shooting, this individual approached us in an extremely rude and disrespectful manner. Without any explanation, he touched me from behind, pointed at both of us, and made a cutting gesture across his neck, signaling that we were "done." This was completely unprofessional and unnecessary. To make matters worse, there was no time limit on our session, and we were happy to pay for additional time to keep shooting. There was no clear reason for this treatment, which made the situation even more frustrating. We went to the range with good intentions, but this incident left us feeling uncomfortable. ItΓÇÖs disappointing, especially since we were planning to purchase a firearm and build a relationship with this business.

Good buying experience. I was not sane to travel to the store so I ordered online. It took about a week to arrive and received for transfer. When it was confirmed that it was ready for pick up (thank you for the help TJ), I went to the store where I was greeted by the employees at the front desk. I told them while I was there and my firearm was brought to me. They opened the box and asked to verify that it was what I ordered and was ready to answer any questions I had. I completed the forms and off I went. As a veteran myself, I feel itΓÇÖs a great service to purchase from a Veteran Owned business and not from a major retailer.

Very friendly every time I've been there. New gun smith is way better than the old one getting repairs done on time and correct. It would be nice if they gave a Military or First Responder Discount like a lot of other places. Thank you for the friendly service.

UPDATE 12/23/24: Well, as you can see, the response from leadership at Keystone Shooting Center was nothing short of impressive. I called and spoke to their GM, Kirk, who was extremely understanding and assured me he would work with me on a resolution that was fair to both parties. If someone had asked me what it would take for them to earn my business again, it would have been exactly the response I received. With that said, I'm updating my review to 5 stars, and I'm very much looking forward to doing business with Keystone Shooting Center again. Thank you, Ty and Kirk! I bought myself a G19 Gen 5 MOS and my wife a G43X MOS at Keystone. I'm a rookie in the gun game, so I got home and quickly realized my wife's G43X was miles more comfortable to carry AIWB. I took the G19 back 2 weeks later and asked to trade for another G43X. Dude offered me $200 for the G19. I paid $679 for it, and never even fired the gun. I'm not an unreasonable guy. I understand the value drops the moment you carry it out the door. But offering me $200 was a slap in the face. I'll never spend another dollar there, and I have all intentions of spending lots of dollars as this addiction grows. Lol

I've been shopping at keystone for years and have dozens transfers and/or purchases from them and go there frequently to look at firearms or to have work done on firearms that may need repaired I took in a brand new unfired Palmetto State Armory PA16 20" Upper receiver to have a quad rail installed for the firearm and when I returned home after they worked on it I noticed the bolt was completely seized and i could not charge the gun. Upon removing the lower receiver I noticed the upper receiver was bent outward. I then returned to keystone to have the issue rectified and they decided to attempt to bend the upper back to straight and said the gun was safe to use and sent me on my way I returned home and for some reason the firearm would not feed so I took it back to Keystone for a second time, I met with an employee and a manager who were reasonable and let me shoot a couple rounds through it at the range for free, the gun worked okay and they said the gun will wear in after about 300 rounds I took the gun out to the range with a friend the following week, and the bolt was still difficult to move and would get sticky on charging, which I found to not be ideal, so I took it to a different gun store to have it looked at by another Gunsmith because I had suspicions that the gun didn't feel safe to use The other gunsmith said the gun was in fact unsafe and would eventually fail, his recommendation was that I take the firearm back to keystone to see if I could get a replacement upper. A manager at keystone then denied me a replacement upper and told me they would contact the manufacturer because they blamed it on a manufacturer defect and essentially called me a liar even though the gun functioned perfectly fine before I brought the gun to get those parts put on in the first place Ive always have had a good experience here but this absolutely unacceptable customer service and the complete unwillingness to help solve the solution and only taking a convenient approach of essentially saying go away has permanently damaged my opinion of Keystone Shooting Center, and I will not be recommending this company anymore The manager said he would call me back when I went in on Tuesday as of Sunday the 21st I never heard anything back from them
