I've been going there for years. I've only been twice since the renovation/upgrades. Safety-To the newcomers or "know-it-alls": Keep in mind, it is the RSO's job to make sure every one is being safe. So, if you're fiddling with your firearm or appear to have a malfunction or doing anything that could remotely pose a level of danger, it is their job to monitor and correct you if needed. They don't know you or your abilities/intentions. You're not at "Granddad's farm". However trivial you may think the rules are, they are in place for a reason. I've never had a RSO there that made any unreasonable requests. Targets- I will mirror what others have said about wishing there was still a paper target option. I'm a little old fashion, the paper doesnt lie or need calibration. However, the electronic targets are handy and will absolutely suit most people's needs. The electronic targets also keep guests from needing to go downrange. They also have steel targets at 100 uds and 200 yds. The 200yd white tail target w/vital zone is real handy for the average deer hunter trying to gain proficiency with his rifle. The hand gun side looks real nice but I haven't had a chance to utilize it yet. I tend to be a critic of government spending but, all in all, this facility is a good use of taxpayer money. This is a good place to take your family shooting, or sight in that deer rifle, or get some trigger time in with your self defense firearm, or refine your rifle skills. Good job on this facility, GA DNR.

Have visited this gun range4 times this year and each range officer that I encountered were helpful, friendly, encouraging, and approachable. I’m bad with names so I won’t mention any names. They make you feel at ease and relax. 5 ⭐️

Had the pleasure of holding a training class for basics of pistol shooting this past weekend and it was wonderful. The Range Officers were excellent. The officer by the name of Ron was very helpful and made the entire group feel very welcomed! They all agreed that they would most definitely be returning! Thanks to all officers!

Went for FatherΓÇÖs Day for the second year in a row. Very nice range. Range officers are helpful and knowledgeable. You can shoot anything from bows to ARs. Any Georgia fishing or hunting license grants you access. Daily or annual passes/licenses are easily purchased online.

It's bad cause I love going here but the reason I give it a 1 star is for one person. Ron is there all the time and doesn't know anything and is the hardest person in the world to deal with and thinks he knows everything and has consistently costing me money in ammo and so much time wasted from forcing me to re-sight in guns that was already sighted in. He had threatened to have me removed from the range if I refused to re sight my gun every time I come when he is there to the point if I get there and see him, I just leave. Taz is honestly one of the only ones that actually knows anything out there and makes going there enjoyable. Taz is always nice and if I ever have any questions has willing to help. I didn't want to give a low start but due to Ron, I just can't give it anything higher.

been shooting here since 2019 a lot of rules have changed over the years ,electronic targets ,sign it rules, no putting up your own targets, when the range goes cool you have to stand back form your station no loading mags or nothing, and the range officer are hovering to say the least. just wasn't like this 3 or so years ago but its a great place to shoot just too many rules that are constantly changing

I spent some time this past Thursday and Friday at Mike Commander Shooting Range. This is certainly not my first trips to the range, but it did remind me of how lucky we are to have this recently renovated facility in SWGA. The range officers ( Taz, John, Jeff, Jim, Daniel) are helpful and courteous. We are particularly lucky to have some accomplished shooters on staff. Taz in the rifle area and Jeff in the pistol area both have a wealth of shooting knowledge they are willing to share. We all appreciate Ashley's excellent management of this resource and Taz's gunsmithing ability certainly comes in handy when someone has an equipment related question. I do have one suggestion. For those of us that are trying to do precision shooting, sighting in, or reloading, it would be nice if there was a provision for a shooting lane or two on the rifle ,as well as, the pistol side for paper targets. The electronic targets, while great for general shooting and sighting-in a hunting firearm, are not the best for discerning small differences in group sizes of precision rifles or target pistols. There are paper targets that have multiple aim points so that activity is not continually disrupted by making the range "cold" to hang/retrieve targets. Thanks for this great facility!

If I could not give this place any stars I would. Beware when sighting in your hunting rifle at this place; the new high tech targets do not correspond on the computer tablets with where you are actually are hitting the targets. Also the Range officer named John was very rude and condescending. You would ask him a question and if he had to repeat himself because you had hearing protection on he would be extremely short, rude, and condescending, especially to younger people. The only good thing about this place is the range officer named Taz he was very friendly and informative. Other than that this place sucked and will ensure you don't get your rifle sighted in. I wasted a lot of time and money going to this place. I WILL NOT BE BACK. DO BETTER GEORGIA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This used to be a good range. Now, electronics have taken over. I don't enjoy shooting at a target I can't visually or physically inspect or looking at a computer screen that may or may not work. 3rd visit today and I was very disappointed. I've utilized this range for years, but not after today. Paper targets actually show you an accurate bullet strike. It doesn't delay 20 seconds or longer after you've fired your round. Go back to paper targets. It seems like the state of Georgia has turned our beloved shooting range into an expensive video game. Go back to paper targets.

I shoot there all the time. The cost is a hunting or fishing license. You can buy it online. The pistol side has steel targets and the rifle side uses electronic targets. It is definitely worth the drive and the staff are extremely friendly and knowledgeable. If you see me out there, say hello!

Top notch outdoor shooting range. It's come a long way from a field in a WMA. individual lanes up to 200 yds with partitions and ambidextrous benches, rifle racks, bolt flags, hot/ cold lights, hot range alarm. Can borrow glasses, ears, shooting rests. Covered facility. Has bathrooms now! Top notch professional facility. UPDATE for 2022, they have updated to electronic targets on all rifle lanes. Send to work well, made it easy to zero the scope then move over to shoot longer. You also need yearly pass - free, but you have to watch a safety video

I enjoy going out to this range. Very relaxing environment and friendly staff. Bathrooms are very clean which is a plus in my book. I would have to say the one thing that separates this range from the other I have been is the staff. The range officer named Taz ( I hope I am saying and spelling that right) is definitely one of the most experience people out there. I havenΓÇÖt been shooting for a while. So it was greatly appreciated and welcomed all the advice and pointers he gave me. I go on the days he works because if there is a question about a gun or a better way to be more accurate, he has the answer. Thank you for having a place like this with great staff and family friendly environment. A++++ in my book.

What an awesome gun and bow range. It only doe ether pistol range have great targets, then rifle range is above reproach with state of art computerized target marking so no walking down range to check your shots. The RSOs are very helpful and experienced. The bow range is very well planned out and the walking course is outstanding.
