Nassau County Rifle & Pistol

Q: Do you have to have your personal firearms and can anyone shoot or do you have to be some form of law enforcement to shoot at the range?
A: They do not supply firearms. If it's a pistol it has to be your own and you have to show your license. If it's a shotgun or rifle you or anyone else can shoot it as long as everyone is 18 or older. You DON'T have to be law enforcement to shoot at the range. It's open to the public.

A: Do they supply guns there to shoot ? Or do you have to actually bring a gun there ... first time ... me & friends would like to go
- Monique Matthews (3 years ago)
A: It has to be your pistol and have the proper license.
- ROLANDO BOSTOS (5 years ago)
A: You must have a lisence to have a firearm, and have your own firearm to shoot there.
- keven cruzado (5 years ago)
A: Own firearms cannot share
- Anthony DeMarco (5 years ago)
Q: ******** Attention guys the range is closed till April 3, 2019. Whoever is in charge of this range should have made sure it was posted online. *******
A: They were closed because of an incident where 2 employees hired a friend to clean the casings. It wasn't sanctioned by the county and the employees were fired. They had to do an investigation and then hire a real company to clean the range. Newsday reported on it. That's why they randomly closed for 2 weeks.

Q: Can you shoot AR15 firearms in this range?
A: Yes you can shoot AR-15s there.
- MK 69 (5 years ago)
A: Thank u all
- K J (5 years ago)
A: Yes no green tips
- Kenneth (5 years ago)
A: You can but the ammo has to be soft point. No FMJ or surplus ammo
- Matt (5 years ago)
A: Sure can 🙂
- Laureen Bellamy (5 years ago)
Q: Do you sell guns? How do you go about buying a gun for target shooting. I already have a rifle permit.
A: They don't sell guns and you only need a rifle permit in NYC. In the rest of New York state and Long Island you can buy and shoot anything that is not a handgun as long as you are not a convicted felon and 18 or over.
- JM (5 years ago)
A: U need a pistol license to start if you want to buy a gun. There is a bulletin board there where people might post to sell their gun. This has to go through an authorized dealer. Hope this helps you? You said you have a rifle permit? In New York you do not need a license for a rifle or shotgun.
- howard weinstein (6 years ago)
A: NO
- Simcha Katz (6 years ago)
A: The range does not rent or sell any firearms.
- Chris Goemans (6 years ago)
Q: Can I fire a shoot gun there
A: You can SHOOT your SHOT-GUN there, but they require the shooter to use SLUGS not regular shot shells with the buckshot in them, have fun, they need to refurbish the facilities they are very outdated!
- Ken Gothelf (4 years ago)
A: Lol shoot gun
- Tekk Neek (a year ago)
A: They have just painted the range and it's pretty nice now.
- Joe Schmidt (7 years ago)
A: Yes sir, shot guns are permitted.
- Chris Goemans (7 years ago)
A: Yes must use slugs. You mean shot gun right not shoot gun
- howard weinstein (7 years ago)
Q: Can I shoot an air rifle here
A: yes i used my 22 cal pellet guns
- George Evans (2 years ago)
A: Bring ear protection
- ROLANDO BOSTOS (6 years ago)
A: I would say yes. Use ear muffs definitely. U have to be over 18 or you need parent.
- howard weinstein (6 years ago)
A: I don't see why not. And you better have ear protectors.
- keven cruzado (6 years ago)
Q: OK, 1. need to kill squirrels on my property, if that's legal ? 2. Do I need a permit to Own or Fire an Air Pump .77 BB Rifle in Nassau County? property if thats legal 🤔 If that's legal in Nassau County 🤔
A: Sir, this is Wendy's......are you a moron?
- Nassau County Rifle & Pistol (8 months ago)

- David (9 months ago)

A: I don't believe so however check with range staff or the website

ItΓÇÖs ok. 2 stars for being a clean range. Wish they have a vent in the room and maybe spread us out a little bit when thereΓÇÖre many empty rooms. Put 4 of us in one room when other rooms are empty, I understand when thereΓÇÖs a lot of people we have no choice but 4 guys in one room creates a lot of smoke felt like I was getting lung cancer in there. One older woman works here was nasty, bad attitude, talk to me like I owe her money or something.

This indoor shooting range offers a solid variety of options for enthusiasts, with lanes for handguns, rifles, and shotguns. The atmosphere leans toward a classic, old-school vibe, which may appeal to those who enjoy a more traditional shooting experience. The facility itself is well-maintained, and the staff seem knowledgeable and professional. However, one major drawback holds this place back: the complete lack of an online reservation system. In an age where nearly everything can be booked with a few taps on a phone, itΓÇÖs baffling that they havenΓÇÖt caught up with the times. I once found myself waiting for 45 minutes, only to be informed that I'd have to wait another hour because a group of school kids had reserved several lanes. It was incredibly frustratingΓÇöespecially since this whole ordeal could have been avoided if they simply allowed online bookings. In 2025, thereΓÇÖs really no excuse for not offering a way to reserve a lane ahead of time. Without this convenience, visits can feel unpredictable and inconvenient, which is a shame because the range itself has a lot of potential. Until they modernize their system, itΓÇÖs hard to recommend this place for anyone on a tight schedule.

Excellent to hone your shooting skills. My biggest gripe is they allow big bore in the room as a guy shooting a 22 It's very hard on the ears

Decent indoor shooting range with options for handguns, rifles, and shotguns. It has an old-school vibe, which some might appreciate. However, the lack of an online reservation system is a major drawback. I once waited 45 minutes only to be told I'd need to wait another hour because a group of school kids was coming in. It's frustrating that in 2025, they still donΓÇÖt offer a way to book a lane online, making the experience unpredictable and inconvenient.

People work there are well respected professionals. For anyone whoΓÇÖs into shooting sports, this is the place to go. Nassau county resident can get discounted price with a leisure pass which could be obtained on the spot for 36 dollars with proof of address. It could be packed over the weekend with possible wait up to 2 hours so if you can somehow manage to go there on the weekdays, lucky you.

It's a great indoor range, a little old and outdated, but simple. It goes out to 25 yards. You can place your target at a close distance or far distance. Make sure you have proper identification and permits for your handguns or you may be denied entry. Remember you are not allowed to video your shooting. And you aren't allowed to share guns and swap back and forth. It's all about safety. The range officers are there to help you, but you should know how your weapons operate. If you don't, inquire about classes.

The people I give 5+ stars. Knowledgeable, friendly, disciplined etc. I truly respect and appreciate them. However, I wish the town would update the equipment, do something about the ventilation, etc

It's a great range to shoot pistol, but when it come to rifles it sucks, And why still to this day they they never installed benches to shoot Rifle from, and about 100% of the time you have be in a stand up to shoot Rifle, its real more of a Pistol Range then anything else. I have been going there since 17 and now 66, 47years that shit hole Nassau County never upgrade, What a shame then really need to upgrade and install shooting benches so you can sight your rifles in better!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

11/23/2024: 9am was told card reader not working, paid cash and no receipt given… Room# 1 had so much smoke from shooting shotgun… and vent wasn’t working as expected… Positive: good staff. Helpful. Cons: targets hold by cheap old paper clips. Targets slips off often. People with shotguns, R15 shooting in same room where people with pistols. Those rifles indoors create very loud noise even you use ear protection, especially when they start shooting synchronically. Rifles and pistols should use separate rooms, at least tried to. Charge: per hour. Many people I saw they just rushing to shoot and leave. Needs some work at range, probably management.

OLD & OUTDATED ⚰️🪦😒😔🙁☹️ . STAFF IS RUDE & NEEDS TO BE TRAINED ON PROVIDING BETTER CUSTOMER SERVICE POORLY RUN & MANAGED. RAGE IS OVER 50 years old. Needs to be completely redone. No climate control 🌡🔥☄️☃️❄️, very hot in summer and very cold in the winter. Poor air quality and filtration. Very short range, ok for pistols. Not good for rifle shooting. The lighting is very poor. The county needs to overhaul the shooting range and fix it up. It's falling apart. The shooting counters are uneven n with scratch your firearms. So bring a mat or something to put down. THE RANGE IS VERY EXPENSIVE 💵🪙💰💵💶💷💸💴, ITS LIKE SHOOTING IN A BASEMENT. The sad fact this range is one of the only indoor ranges in Nassau, Suffolk and new york city.
