Very informative CCW class. You will leave with a solid base of fundamentals for Concealed Carry. The classroom atmosphere was very relaxed. I do not have enough room for all the good things to say.

I went for Pistol1/CCW class this past weekend. It was a long day, but I absolutely loved it. I had no experience and was very anxious. They were very thorough and knowledgeable. They created a great learning environment where I was comfortable asking questions. By the end I felt much more confident! I want to sign up for all the classes! I will definitely be back. Thank you!

I spent a few years as a deputy with the local sheriff's office and am currently with another local law enforcement agency, among other qualifications. So, I am coming to you all with some good knowledge of local, state, and federal firearms laws. A friend and I met at Nevada Firearms Academy so they could complete a transfer of a rifle and suppressor. The first red flag was when the woman behind the counter asked for my ID for my own background check and asked how IΓÇÖd be paying. She said she wasn't sure how it worked, so called the owner/supervisor, and they both agreed that I, the seller, was also required to do a background check in order to sell a firearm. I informed her that I had never heard that before and just did a transfer the week prior without having to go through that process. She told me they were in the wrong and could lose their license, but would waive the fees since I wasn't aware of the actual process. During the wait, I was scouring the internet for any additional info I wasn't aware of. There was nothing saying this was required anywhere - which everyone but them already knew. The next red flag was even more blatant and could have all parties involved going to court to avoid a hefty prison sentence. They completed the standard background check paperwork and transfer paperwork they needed for my friend to make the purchase. After a short delay, she informed us that everything was good to go and that they would call my friend once everything cleared so he could come to pick up the rifle and suppressor. Both my friend and I looked at each other in confusion. Where was his Form 4 and other tax stamp paperwork for the ATF? They didn't have any of the paperwork there but thought that was all the process entailed but was content giving it the good 'old "college try.' It took the woman behind the counter calling both her supervisor and the owner of the store in order to come up with a plan on what to do after we questioned them. They decided to make the transfer back to me so I would keep the items in my possession until the background check cleared, and give them time to figure this out. This makes me wonder about previous sales that have gone through this store and those that will be going through this store in the future. They are an FFL yet after two people were present in the store and making a phone call to a third, were still not familiar with the process of the most basic level of firearms transfers. Now add an NFA item, and they were literally about to do a quick background check and hand the item off to another person. This location is in need of a wake-up call about how serious these mistakes are and why it helps to read the laws that apply to everything - especially basic-level firearm transfers. Personally, I don't know how something can be such general knowledge to the public yet an FFL be so oblivious to it. Watch out for places like this. They may have 5-star reviews (almost all of which were there from previous business) but theyΓÇÖre from people who donΓÇÖt know any better. These people are dangerous to do business with and thatΓÇÖs why most other LEOΓÇÖs I know what go near this place. This just confirmed everything IΓÇÖve heard about them since. EDIT: Apparently, we can't respond to their comments back to our reviews, so they can come up with whatever. They're thinking of someone different because WE were the ones to end the transaction because WE weren't comfortable. No one bullied anyone. Let's not be dramatic. "Hello, we'd like to do a transfer." "Sure!" And no, I couldn't remember the "girls" name from over two years ago. Document me? For what? That's not how that works. It wasn't me transferring. I'll agency-to-agency request it since it'll be a fun read - if it happened. We were right beside her for the conversations. You really can't just be like, "Yeah, we messed that up, man. We should have sent you elsewhere. We're so sorry you had that experience. We got it down now so feel free to give us another shot when in the area!" Really don't have it in you? Crazy.

A few years ago, when I was brand new to shooting, I wasnΓÇÖt sure where to go in Reno. IΓÇÖd heard some mixed things about the previous owner of the Pyramid location, but when I saw that Nevada Firearms Academy NFA had taken over, I decided to give them a shot and IΓÇÖm so glad I did!! From the moment I showed I was immediately welcomed. The staff were super friendly and they made me feel comfortable right away even though I was a total beginner. They didnΓÇÖt just hand me a lane and send me on my wayΓÇöthey actually took the time to educate me and help me build a solid foundation. Over the years IΓÇÖve built a great relationship with the team there and now theyre my go to spot for everything. I also took my CCW permit class with them and it was a fantastic experience. Makala and Scott were incredibly knowledgeable and made the process so smooth. They broke everything down in a way that was easy to understand and really emphasized safety and confidence. The whole team is just top notch, professional, patient, and genuinely passionate about what they do!! NFA has a great vibe and I always recommend it to my friends and family! Whether youre a complete newbie like I was or have been shooting for years, this is the place to go. Plus, theyΓÇÖve got some really exciting plans in the works to expand and offer even more services, and I canΓÇÖt wait to see whatΓÇÖs next!! Huge thanks to everyone at NFA for creating such a welcoming space. YouΓÇÖve earned a lifelong customer here!

This place was amazing. We took the CCW and Pistol 1 class. All of the instructors were kind, friendly, and knowledgeable. Kept us safe while challenging us to get better. All of us left there more educated and better marksman. Only complaint is that we had such a good time and were so impressed that we are already talking about the next class, they got us hooked. The drive really isnΓÇÖt bad and it goes quite quick. Totally worth it.

After signing up for a membership around June, I was very pleased with the facilities and staff for the short period of time that the location remained open. 2 or so months later I drove down to the range one day, only to find a sign letting me know they had shut down their physical location and would be operating the National Shooting Center, which is over an hour away from their original location. No email was sent to me as they claim, no text message or any other form of communication to let us know they were closing down. I have since reached out 3 or 4 times since August, only to be told they are struggling financially and can't afford to repay everyone at once. So they offer a 20$ a week repayment plan and keep telling me his accountant will reach out. To date nobody has reached out and they continue to prolong the repayment process. I find it unlikely I will see the refund of my membership without further action.

This was a wonderful indoor range in South Reno. Great instructors, very welcoming. Made several visits before deciding to join the beginning of July. Paid our family fee and expected to have lots of family fun. Two weeks later they are gone. Relocated to outdoor range at Pyramid. I asked to have our fee refunded, because we signed up for indoor range. No joy. We paid for indoor range not outdoor. We can shoot outdoors any time we want without driving 1.5 hours one way to get to Pyramid.

Just recently did the pistol 1/Ccw course! Awesome staff, very safe, fun, and professional. Jesse gave me a multitude of pointers that improved my shots tenfold! Would totally recommend to anyone seeking professional help with a fun environment! Also IΓÇÖd like to add that they have an answer for almost any question you could have!

My husband and I recently visited Nevada Firearms Academy & Range while on a trip from out of state, and we couldn't be more impressed! We found this place online, and the great reviews led us here. Now, we completely understand why it has such high ratings. We had the pleasure of working with Brandon and another gentleman who seemed to be the owner or manager. Both were incredibly professional and focused on safety, ensuring that we were comfortable and treated according to our level of experience. Brandon, in particular, was exceptionally friendly and welcoming, making sure we had a pleasant and enjoyable experience. The range was clean, well-organized, and provided a fantastic environment for all levels of experienced shooters. We felt safe and well-cared-for throughout our visit. We highly recommend Nevada Firearms Academy & Range to anyone looking for a top-notch shooting experience in Nevada. We'll definitely be back next time we're in town!

The two young men that helped our group were great! I have been to many fire ranges and they always have douchebags that talk to you like your an idiot and are extremely rude. This place had cool guys that just let you shoot and assisted us when we needed it. They didn't treat us in any type of condescending way. The price was right as well. Hightly recommend.

NFA is the best gun range in Reno. Scott and Makala are awesome and have done a great job making this place a great spot to practice. They have a ton of classes for women, men, and even kids. Also Tyson teaches the archery classes and is super patient with my daughter and she has improved a ton.

Scott and Makala are building an amazing resource and community here in Reno and their Pistol 1/CCW class lives up to its 5-star reputation. While not typically a highlight, the classroom presentation was interesting and highly informative. Scott updates the content as new laws and regulations are passed, so it was wonderful to have the latest knowledge presented by someone who's intimately familiar. And a big thank you to the whole crew running the range session and qualification - all of their feedback was actionable and had me clearing out the X in the target center by the day's end. If you're considering a CCW, I couldn't imagine a better class.

Great shooting range with knowledgeable staff. My wife and I recently took our CCW renewal class here and found them to be friendlier and more knowledgeable than some of the other local ranges. Will return 100%

Tray... Tray... Tray... such an experience... ZZ Top lookin' @$$ man... he was great! I had the privilege to take a course from him and previously I had gone to this gun range 1-2 times. and each time it was extremely cool. the staff were knowledgeable for anything you need to ask. and if they didn't know they were happy to go find the information you seek. so, this being my 3rd time-Ish I took a class. and Trey was very knowledgeable, highly approachable, and he kept it every clear that we need to know the Local laws and revised statutes. and that the choices you need to make are heavy and life altering. overall, i would highly recommend this place. I was a bit sad to see the Outdoor Range at Pyramid Hwy isn't included in family packages. as we want to shoot long range as well, but it's not included. this range is a bit, Shory Imo. but that's just not good for long rifles. otherwise, perfect. but that is what the other range is for. and hinestly in the family plan id be out at the other range every week if it was included. so long story short. so far great experiences. when i have a question, they are very candid and honest which i respect. especially when it comes to firearms. It would be Amazing if they could work a way to include the other rifle range on pyramid Hwy to be in the family plan. and... I actually had one big disappointment and it was in myself for not asking him what he thought of Cowboy Buster Scruggs... Shut up Earl. haha Im hanging up now...

Really fun place to shoot! They have a solid selection of guns to choose from and Jesse and Tom were very helpful. If you are a beginner/intermediate it is not an intimidating place. They also donΓÇÖt beat you up on the price. Ear/eye protection and targets were included. I believe they also have an outdoor range that is open on weekends. If you are in Reno give them a visit!

I have had nothing but the best experiences here. My family and I all went through the ccw class and became members, we were able to figure out what guns we like from their array of rental guns and now my whole family is knowledgeable in gun safety and ready for whatever life throws at us. Thank you Scott and Mikayla you guys have been great.

Just a great spot overall. The range and lounge are nice and clean but the thing that made me go out of my way to write a review is definitely the warm / welcoming / approachable staff.

The staff here are very knowledgeable and very helpful. I have years of experience with guns, but taking their CCW class taught me better trigger control. I am definitely glad I got the year membership. They now offer archery, which I know nothing about, looking forward to taking that class too. Very awesome people!

Got a membership here at a great price, came with free rental and range use. Had a bad experience buying a firearm there, was told right out the gate background check would take 3-4 days and they did not make the order when they said they would, the only person that was able to handle the ordering was a nice gal but ended up not being reliable. I was given excuses that would make sense if I was born yesterday. I came in last Friday to have a private sale transfer completed and the young men that were working were not of any help. The one person present who could help complained about trying to go home, then decided they were going home and I would have to wait 10min for the next qualified person to help me. They were cussing like I was their friend but I was more embarrassed since I brought the seller with me. I left, got a cheaper membership at RAC, they did my background check in one hour. I will not renew my membership here. Not to mention a month after I got a membership here for shooting my rifle in the range , they changed the rules and I couldnΓÇÖt shoot any of my rifles in the range anymore. I do not recommend this place.

Great CCW class. Friendly and helpful owners and team. And, FREE cookies; what more could one want? Went for my CCW renewal class after spending some time on their range for a little practice. Everyone I encountered was friendly, knowledgeable and helpful. Their prices are competitive, including the ammunition I needed. Woman/veteran owned and family operated.

Excellent class! This is the 3rd state I have taken the CCW class and this one was by far the best. The amount of time on the range is a definite plus, especially for shooters who have had little or no experience in firing a handgun. The staff is patient and goes into detail to help a shooter improve. If you come away from this class with less than 100% on target you probably should reconsider your decision to own a handgun. Great job to all staff. I highly recommend NFA for all your firearms needs.
