Q: What's the length of the longest lane?

A: 50 yards, well lit (led) and clean. Friendly staff

- Bob B (5 years ago)

A: Hi Carlos! Our Range is a 50 yard indoor facility. All lanes are the same length. The target carrier system allows you to send your target out anywhere from 5ft to 150ft. We look forward to having you in at the Range.

Q: Can you shoot a T4E tr50 11j self defense pistol and a byrna SD pistol at the range?

A: Hi Ron, From what I have seen on the web, I'd say that you can shoot those here. What I would like is for you to bring them in for me to take a look at the projectiles. Naturally, you cannot shoot any chemical rounds (pepper ball type ammo), etc., but regular kinetic rounds should be fine. As the max effective range is only 20 yards, I cannot see how standard kinetic rounds could pose a threat to the range.

Q: Hi, is there a possibility of renting weapons and ammunition? Thanks.

A: Ricardo, as Jason replied, we don't rent firearms, but we do sell ammo. Two ways around the firearms rental issue: 1) bring a friend who has firearms, or 2) make an appointment with an instructor (they usually can provide firearms for classes or lessons). Thanks for the question! Hope to see you come in soon. Jason, thanks for answering Ricardo's question.

Q: hello, I would like to use my 357 mag revolver on your range with different ammo rounds grains and type. what are if any restrictions on the type of 38 special, 38 +P or 357 mag. ammo that I can use on the range?

A: Hi J R, In those calibers, the only restrictions would be a prohibition on the use of ammo with steel jackets, steel core or penetrator nodules, tracer or tracer-like materials, shot shells, etc. Most of those are very atypical for .38/.357, but... We applaud the effort to test your gun with various loads -- it helps you to discover what your gun likes to shoot and shoots best and helps you to understand what different loads will feel like to shoot. I will assume/recommend that you read the owner's manual to ensure that your revolver is designed to handle the loads you are considering. Other than that, come on in!

Q: Do we have to take the classes if weΓÇÖve already shot a weapon before?

A: Hi Gavin, I'm the new Range Manager. I don't see when your question was posted, but it is still a valid question. No, you don't have to take classes before you shoot at the NRA Range. On your first visit, we'll have you fill out a short application for a Range Card and take a short safety quiz based on a sheet of rules we give you. With that said, we always recommend continuing training. Professional guidance helps you to become a safer/better shooter more quickly, which usually makes shooting more enjoyable. Our Range Officers will do their best to make sure that you are safe on the lanes and can often offer you a tip or pointer or two for improving your skills.

Q: how much is the price please???

A: Hello Oussama. I am the new Range Manager. I don't know when your question was posted, but yours is always a good question. There is a one-time $10 fee for the application process for your Range Card. Then, we charge NRA Members $15 for the hour on the lane, and non-NRA-members $25 for the hour on the lane. Note that we charge on a per person basis rather than a per lane basis. For example, if two people come together, we charge each of them the appropriate lane fee regardless of whether they shoot on the same lane or on separate lanes.

Q: Can I bring my own Air Gun?

A: Absolutely! We do not carry pellets however so please bring everything you need to shoot! Thank you and we look forward to having you in at the Range!

- NRA Range (3 years ago)

Q: Do you guys rent out guns?

A: We do not. All of our customers must provide their own firearms. Let me know if you have any other questions or you can consult our webpage FAQS page for reference. Thank you!

Professionally operated. Their shopette has all the additional accessories you would need, including ammo. You do not need to be an NRA member to use the range.

Comparing this to some of the other ranges in the NOVA area, I'd say this is right in the middle which is a good place to be. The prices for range time are excellent, and you can get an associate NRA membership for $10 which gets you an hour of range time for $15. This is a pretty good value if you go less than 3-4 times a month. Plan for an additional ~20 minutes to go through the safety test and briefing if it's your first time at this range. It is a longer briefing with a lot of details. I'm guessing they are more strict on safety here than other ranges since it would look pretty bad to have a safety incident at the NRA. The lanes are in fair repair. They're in better condition than Sharpshooters, but not as nice as SEG. The lane controls are starting to show their age, but they're functional and legible. Bathroom and waiting/lounge are clean and decent. The range goes up to 50 yards which is nice for rifles, but it can make target setup a little more specific to avoid having your rounds hit high or low. For example, a center mass bullseye on a silhouette target should be at eye level, which means you shouldn't aim for the head bullseye or you'll likely hit the support rail towards the end of the range. Location is pretty good, right off I-66. I've never had an issue with parking. If you have an issue parking, you're also likely to have a long wait. There is no rental/loaner safety equipment (eyes/ears) or rental firearms, but they have targets, ammo, and accessories for sale. I have only been on the weekends, but they get pretty busy if you go right when they open or you go after lunch. Wait times are usually only about 10-15 minutes if there is any wait at all.

Better range in the area. I won't mention the other ranges, as they aren't as nice as this one. Great ventilation so no one chokes on fumes. Don't take pictures inside the building, it's not THAT cool.
