Q: Is clay pigeon shooting allow at this range?

Q: I have a couple of somewhat wierd questions ... 1) Is there any camping on this range? 2)when does the range close for the winter season?
A: The hours for the range are sunrise to sunset.
- Ryan Ketchum (6 years ago)
A: There is no camping and the range is open all year.
- Big AL (6 years ago)
A: Hey Marc. No, there is no camping on the range. There is camping in nearby areas though. The camping at Lake Oroville for example is less than 30 minutes from the range. The range is usually open all year, except for times when the range has been flooded by rain.

Q: Can I bring my 11 year old to this range?
A: Yup. I take my 10 yr old all the time.
- Fel (3 years ago)
Q: Can you use steel targets at long range?
A: Probably ok.
- Morgan Green (6 years ago)
A: Yes.
- Evangelist001 (3 years ago)
Q: What are the hours will they be open on Christmas
A: Open all year, sunrise to sundown
- James Garcia (3 years ago)
Q: When is the trap range open?
A: You would need to bring your own thrower. Off to the left people typically shoot clay pigeons. This is a uncontrolled public range. You might see an occasional Game Warden or Sheriff's Deputy, but other than that there is no range officers.

Q: Is there shade
A: That is a really good question. There is not any shade, and the shooting postions (concrete tables) are not covered. Some shooters bring an Easy-Up to shade their table. Summers in Oroville typically reach the 100 degree range, so late June, all of July and August can be very hot.

Q: Are air rifles and airsoft allowed? And can you shoot full or empty soda cans or melons what type of targets are allowed and not allowed Or
A: Grizzly, I don't think there are any restrictions bringing air rifles or airsoft to the range, but there are many areas that may be better suited to airguns. Regarding targets, no glass is allowed. Even though the range is cleaned by the CCC, each shooter is expected to pick up all of the targets they've brought. There is a dumptster on site.

Q: Do I need to bring my own firearm?
A: Yes and targets and whatever you need to hold the targets

Great place for a long range .and up close pistol. But sometimes you really get some younger 1 handed long gun shooten yahoos out here that really make it unsafe. If you're shooting guns, then remember we have CHILDREN learning from what they see out here, and we need to be mature and responsible examples so that we can protect future generations with responsible handling of firearms . Respect the gun and respect your fellow neighbors at the shooting range. Safety first!!!!!!!! This is not a video game. This is real lives at stake .keep it safe and fun .😄😄😄😄😄

A ways away, but worth the drive if you have a variety of firearms to shoot.

Only go here if you like being harassed by game wardens, court dates, and confiscation of your guns. Glad I moved out of Commiefornia.

Friendly people and nice tables. Guys next to me let me use their spotting scope. If you reload, this is a good place to get free casings, there are thousands. Only complaint is littering, come on folks take your boxes and junk home with you it's not a GD landfill.

Ranger pulled up today and tripped on metal targets that I used. Although he gave me just a verbal warning, it still sucks not shooting the favorite targets…. So just be aware of ranger

I have used this range for many, many years, and I have discovered many advantages and a few disadvantages. I like that I can shoot out past 400 meters, and I like the measured berms. I like the short hand gun range. I like the shot gun range. I like that it's close to me and that it's free. Bring your own drinks. I like how I can collect my brass for reloading. I like the tables, but I'd warn shooters in winter to bring a cushion to sit on, as concrete gets mighty cold. In the mornings the sun is in the shooter's eyes, as the range faces mostly East. I see that as a challenge rather than as a disadvantage. Because it's a free, unsupervised range, we find a few disadvantages. I would avoid leaving one's guns on the table when going down range--lock them in the car. When calling "clear," meaning you'd like people to clear their weapons and place them safely on the table for going down range, make doubly sure that everyone has safely placed weapons on tables before stepping out onto the range proper. Don't wear sandals, as there are rocks and stickers. So: almost no downside and lots of upside. Shooting stuff is fun. Update 02/2020: I read this review again, and if I wrote it today, it'd all be about the same. My seat cushion is thicker for the winter, is all that changed. Michael Bertsch, Chico, CA.
