Orvis Sandanona Shooting Grounds

Q: What is price for day of shooting. or a family price ?
A: Thats dependent on what you need. It's $85 dollars per round, per shooter, non-member pricing. A gun rental is $50 which can be shared between max 2 people. Ammunition per round, per shooter, is going to average around $50, depending on Gauge choice. A cart rental $50, or you can walk the courses. Reservations are required. And tips to your trapper are suggested to be between $15-$20 per shooter, per round. They also have a lunch room if you'd like to eat their as well. I highly encourage a call out there. They are all very nice and would be more than willing to talk you through anything.

My partner and I visited this location last weekend with much anticipation and excitement! It was the last stop of our weekend before heading back home. Upon walking into the store we were immediately met with looks of disgust and terrible attitudes from numerous employees. Choosing to ignore this, we moved forward and decided to continue shopping. The second and I mean THE SECOND I tried on a jacket, I was approached by an older shirt woman with glasses who proceeded treat me as if I didnΓÇÖt know how to size my clothing properly. Again, thinking nothing of it, we continued to shop. My partner then noticed that the short women was sneaking around corners and watching our every move as if we were trying to steal. We were followed throughout the entire store and went left alone one single time. All we wanted to do was PURCHASE some clothing. At this point it has been forty minutes of this and we decided it was enough so we put our items back on the shelves and walked to the car to leave. We were ready to spend thousands in that store that Saturday 10/19/2024. Multiple jackets at $300 each, many items for our dogs and many pairs of jeans. We will take our business to L.L. BEAN where we are accepted as we are being covered in tattooed and with shaved heads. This is hunting cosplay for rich New Yorkers who want to be seen but canΓÇÖt afford to polo club. Do better Orvis

Last year at Sandanona Game Fair I had my very first fly-casting lesson with Bill. The experience gave me the confidence to try fly fishing. Recently I went fly fishing with Bill and I have to say heΓÇÖs the best teacher I have ever had for a recreational sport. He provided genuine support and encouragement through the whole experience. IΓÇÖm in my 70ΓÇÖs, have some ability limitations and IΓÇÖve never fished before. Bill had to modify the process to accommodate my needs and explain and demonstrate many times so I could grasp the technique. He did this seamlessly and respectfully, so I was able to enjoy the entire experience without feeling limited in any way. Imagine the exhilaration I felt when I actually caught a rainbow and a brown trout! I highly recommend Bill to be your fly fishing guide, whether you are experienced or beginner or someone with ability challenges. He has a calm supportive demeanor and a great personality. While I canΓÇÖt guarantee that you will catch fish, I am confident that you will have a wonderful experience. I look forward to going back to the Game Fair again this year, and fly-casting with Bill will be my first activity!

Free Fly Fishing Class. Great Deal!! I recently attended OrvisΓÇÖs Fly Fishing 101 class at the Millbrook, NY location. It was fantastic! And it was free!! The class was taught by the store manager, Maria. She was extremely knowledgeable, approachable, and enthusiastic. Maria simplified fly fishing by teaching us that there were only two knots that we needed to know. She also simplified the process of choosing flies by explaining the broad categories into which they fall. Maria even gave us the experience of fighting a fish by grabbing the end of our line and running around with it. As she was running in all different directions, she would shout out instructions to us about how to fight a hooked fish. She really was wonderful and went above and beyond. This class is a great way to learn about fly fishing without having to spend any money. Orvis provides all the equipment. And itΓÇÖs their top of the line gear: the rods we used retail for $1,000! MariaΓÇÖs expertise and enthusiasm made it a fun two hours. It was a great learning experience, and I highly recommend it to newcomers and to people like me who used to fly fish, but who havenΓÇÖt done it in a long time and need a refresher. IΓÇÖve signed up for the follow up class, Fly Fishing 201, and it too, is free. And they give you discount coupons for gear and classes. Orvis made some of their money back because I bought two rod and reel combos and two assortments of flies. Plus I had lunch there. Very good burger! The entire Orvis staff at Sandanona make you feel like you own the place. I canΓÇÖt wait to go back.

Always a great experience at Orvis. Friendly trappers and instructors, and straightforward check ins. The shop has any gear you might need last minute, and the bistro is great for a quick lunch after your shoots. Looking forward to a few more shoots this year.

Really fantastic experience. IΓÇÖve been shooting since I was a teenager but I had never been professionally critiqued. I learned a tremendous amount about weaknesses I didnΓÇÖt know I had. It doesnΓÇÖt matter if youΓÇÖre a rank amateur or doing this all your life, you will learn a lot.

What a great place! Few of us went to Sandanona on the weekend, we were greeted very nicely by the ladies behind the counter. They made sure we had everything we needed to go out. We then met our guide, Rod Stewart, who was phenomenal. We had a couple new shooters in our party and he went out of his way to make sure they felt comfortable the whole time. Highly recommend him as your guide the next time you book! A++

I took my boyfriend here for a fun surprise and we had the best time! We started with a late lunch at the cafe. The food was delicious and the service was impeccable. The service in the shop and during the reservation process was also perfect. I bought the Groupon for a one hour guided session, Erik was our teacher, and we had the best time. I couldn't recommend Erik enough. He was so professional, polite, and incredibly good at what he does. We would love to come back to take another class with him in the future!
