amazing experience as an inexperienced young woman wanting to learn how to shoot! Ty did a great job instructing me, leading me to perfect aim and pure confidence at the range. This experience has taught me so much and I will be coming back.

The range itself was okay. However the instructor that my friend and I had today, really had an odor and stunk up the room. It was so bad. We did not expect to encounter a hygiene problem in this establishment that we were referred to. It was totally unacceptable especially feeling his wandering eyes as well. The instructor was a bigger gentleman, I believe his name was Christopher. Philadelphia training academy, do better.

Pristine range with well built target carriers. Huge selection of firearms for purchase at competitive prices. Extremely professional staff. Liked this place so much I got a membership on same day I tried their range.

Great range/shop with solid owners and staff. IΓÇÖve been a member for 4 years now and I go 3-4 times a month. IΓÇÖve purchased several times from them and done many transfers and they always make sure IΓÇÖm taken care of. The range and retail space are modern, well maintained, and one of the best indoor non private ranges IΓÇÖve ever been to. The only place you should be shooting in the city.

I have been going to Philadelphia Training Academy for 15 years. It took a little adjustment to how they treat customer service. I am going to have to disagree with most 1 star reviews. Call before you go to ensure they are open and if the range is open. This is a really busy shop and range. James, one of the owners, is very direct and straightforward. The first time I visited the shop, he was ΓÇ£managingΓÇ¥ the entire store. I wouldnΓÇÖt walk out. I would recommend introducing yourself if you get a chance. If you go in with no knowledge, tell them. If you want to discuss a purchase, go to a sales associate. I observed transactions in the store and my guess is the 1 star or 2 stars come from those deer standing there looking into the headlights and not approaching the counter. ThatΓÇÖs why they ΓÇ£ driveΓÇ¥ around you. If you donΓÇÖt have the confidence to approach a sales person, you probably wonΓÇÖt have confidence to own a gun.

I like the banter and honestly me and my friend once went there and we were having trouble with my 5.7 so a gun instructor helped us out.

What a great experience! Safety is paramount here. The staff is friendly and professional. They have a great showroom and the cleanest range in which IΓÇÖve ever shot. IΓÇÖm not sure about the previous reviews with claims of racism, the staff and customers are just as diverse as anywhere in our great city of Philadelphia. Philadelphia Training Academy is a quick 5 block walk from the Broad St. Line through a nice neighborhood. I couldnΓÇÖt leave without treating myself with a membership, IΓÇÖm looking forward to going back often!

This is a great range with awesome staff. I've been shooting here regularly for a couple of years and can't say enough positive things. The range is clean, the guys and girls that work here are super friendly, funny and most importantly very accommodating. My buddy has had new sights put in several guns, top notch gun Smith. Reasonable prices, try and catch the father's day special for membership (Thanks Nicole!). They do it right here. I don't get the 1 star reviews but they did say clip instead of mag so take it with a grain of salt 😁. Seriously if you're in the city or a little outside, give them a shot! Thanks, Ron

Moved from north to south and this became my new range, absolutely love these guys! Super friendly staff and great place for beginners and experts alike. I'm a woman and have been to gatekeepy ranges before; never got that vibe from these guys in the slightest. They have a very "trust but verify" attitude which is perfect. Overall, lovely! Plus, they host pink pistols meetings so you know they're LGBTQ+ friendly.

The best range and gun store IΓÇÖve ever been to. The only thing better than the facility is the staff; great people, very friendly and very willing to help with anything you need, especially if youΓÇÖre an amateur shooter. I wouldnΓÇÖt go anywhere else.

I purchased a gun in the summer time. Clip kept coming out went to get it checked they said I needed a spring and that ordering the spring from them would be cheaper and fatter, rather having it shipped. THAT WAS OVER THREE WEEKS AGO. IΓÇÖve called once a week to basically be told NOTHING. I donΓÇÖt recommend this store if purchasing a gun. Their customers service sucks. I rather spend my money somewhere im appreciated and respected.

I called randomly one day looking for a place in the city to shoot regularly. I was lucky that I caught the last day of a special for their membership program. They allowed me to try out the range for an hour to see if I liked it and I knew after just a few minutes that I was going to become a member. The staff is extremely welcoming, diverse, professional, and calm. No range officers with an ego-complex here! They always greeted me by name after just a couple visits, and itΓÇÖs just a great feeling. The membership has enabled me to shoot a couple times a week, on my way to or from work, even just for a few minutes. I think itΓÇÖs invaluable for keeping your skills sharpened and safe especially if concealed carrying. Such a great value, I honestly donΓÇÖt know how they are even making any money on these. IΓÇÖm saving at least a $500 a year in range fees, training regularly! IΓÇÖve since taken my girlfriend and a few other first timers here, even people who were extremely skeptical about learning how to shoot a firearm. The calm, safe environment has changed their mind about it and theyΓÇÖve expressed interest in coming back. The whole experience was so much more pleasant than they imagined, and that is thanks to the great staff here. Thanks PTA, IΓÇÖm very grateful to have this range in my backyard. Joe

I wanted to give an updated review as I only have given one since I have been visiting this place for the last 4 years or so. Having a shop/range in the city seems to me, from my experience, to be extremely more difficult in terms of selection of inventory and prices on ammo. This has been for the industry as a whole since the pandemic, but much more difficult for city shops. Throughout the last 2 years or the pandemic this place has consistently come through as a shining star given the circumstances that have been place upon it. I want to not only re-iterate the great aspects of this shop in terms of being a generally professional, well-run, and all around great business; but I also want to commend them on remaining stable, fair, honest, and courteous throughout these last 2 difficult years. There is more excellence to this place than I could explain but taking everything into account along with them being a great ship and range....I would give ten stars if I could. In conclusion I want to thank the PTA and all the staff for everything they have done for me and the city and I urge anyone I'm the city to visit this place if they have not already.

Well well well. Phila Training Academy is one of those places you have to go experience for your self and not listen to the reviews. I came in very last minute to sign up for the Act 235 class. They squeezed me in. The teacher of the class is one the best teachers IΓÇÖve ever had in my life. DO NOT attend any other place in Philadephia for your class. Go to Phila Training Academy and get the Mike Hall experience!
